BEYOND THE SPRING

With left hand on hip Alex Richards placed his right hand over his face trying to wipe away the events that had torn everyone’s life around him apart. He watched as Wyre made his way to the
door of the room, his eyes blank and lifeless, his body drained of every emotion.
“Where are you going Wyre?” whispered Richards.
Wyre didn’t turn around or look up from the floor as he made his way along the corridor and grunted back at Richards.
“To spend some time with my dead son and arrange his funeral”
“What will you do now?” asked Montgomery of Richards.
“I’m not sure, I need time to think” replied Richards.
“I’ll keep my eye on the boy and Wyre whilst they are here in the hospital” whispered Dr Montgomery which drew a nod from Alex.
Wyre made his way towards the room where his son Oliver was lay at peace so he could be with him alone again. Alex Richards strolled out of the entrance of the hospital and into the fresh air to gather his thoughts. In front of him stretched the car park where people visiting relatives in the hospital or patients attending appointments made their way to and from their vehicles. Unknown to Alex and watching him from behind a pair of large sun glasses in one of the cars was the woman who had been the cause of him having to face his past by getting involved in the lives of Wyre and Oliver Davis. As Alex Richards walked purposefully along the pavement towards where his car was parked, the car with Susan Davis drove slowly past him. As Richards glanced around to look at the driver she ignored him but smiled as she whispered quietly to herself.
“I’m sure we will meet one day Alex Richards……one day”
