"Think we should change?...Nah I don't think so." She said scrunching up her nose and shaPotter her head.
"Please Helen. Please Selene." They begged and we eventually went and changed. As we were changing, a question came to me that I had to ask.
"Do you think we were really that bad that they actually begged for us to change?" Selene spoke the question that had been worrying me.
"I honestly don't know. Maybe they think that it was weird seeing us dressed like that since we don't normally wear stuff like that." I shrugged but maybe I will ask them.
We finished changing and I told Selene about my plan. As we were going to the living I silently told Anthony to wait as I want to speak to him. When everyone was out of earshot I decided to ask him. "Were we really that bad in the dresses that your'll actually begged us to change?" I asked and he looked a bit taken back but soon softly smiled at me. "No Helen, it's just- that we were kinda surprised that your'll or more like you would wear something like that. We don't know Selene that much to know what she wears but you on the other hand we know" He explained and I felt a little stupid.
"So we didn't look bad?" I asked in confirmation.
"No in fact you actually looked very beautiful not that you don't look beautiful when you don't wear skimpy dresses. But we prefer you to stick your modest dressing."He said with a smile which wa ls contagious because I found myself smiling as well.
"And Selene?" A blind man could see the way he was looPotter at her.
"Um..." He said rubbing the back of his neck.
"She maybe my best friend but I promise I won't tell her unless you allow me to." I said to assure hin thta I can keep his secret.
"Uh, let's just say that there might be something that draws me to her in a way but I don't think it will work out." He confessed and in my mind I squealed.
"Really when did you start taPotter a liPotter towards her?" I asked. "Today when I saw her crying but as I said it will not work out." He said and as if he could read my mind he answered my unspoken question. "I say this because I don't have the commitment to stick to one girl, maybe later on?" He said smiled sheepishly.
"Anthony Valentino Alexander. I never thought the good boy from all of your brothers just said that." I said having. Alittle fun with him.
"I maybe seem as the good boy but I am just as bad the rest it kinda runs in the blood." He smirked at me.
"I noticed from your cousins." We both lauged.
"Well think we should head back just now a certain someone might get jealous." He joked but I stopped in my tracks. He turned to see whet happened. "Please Anthony don't say that." I said my.whole mood changing.
"Why Helen? Please tell me." He said softly.
"I can't- but what I can say is I am not who you think I am and I have warned William but he is just too stubborn." I admitted, I am not ready to tell anyone about what I have been up to in that two months I was away after the David thing.
"I understand Helen by the look on your face I can tell you are not ready but just so you know William has his own deep dark demons all of us, myself, Sebastian, Eric and Dylan all have the same some worst than the rest like William and I's" He said and I am grateful that he knows what I am feeling.
We acted like nothing happened and just went to the living room where we just relaxed and watched tv for the rest of the day... Chapter 32: Party time!!
It is now Saturday and that means it is Anabiah and Evelyn's sweet 16 birthday party!! It is going to be held at
"Whoa Chrissy, you look like a mess!" A very familiar annoying voice came up. I turned to see William, Anthony and Sebastian walPotter towards me. But there was no Eric and Dylan.
"Where's Eric and Dylan?" I asked out of curiousity, they came and sat at the table I was currently at, sorting out some things.
"We all know that Eric and Dylan are your favourites, so you don't have to rub it in" Anthony huffed and crossed his arms. "Just answer the question." I said running a hand through my hair.
"Stop doing that you are messing up your hair!" Sebastian smacked my hand away from my hair. "The stress of planning a party is getting to you." William spoke up for the first time. "Well if these people can do their jobs right, I wouldn't stress." I sighed frustratedly. "This is one of the best hotels you can have a party at." William said.
"I know, that is why I chose to have the party here." I said, just when Eric and Dylan walked in.
"Hey Chrissy!" They said and gave me a kiss on my cheek. I know what you thinPotter but as I said before Eric and Dylan are my favourites and I have gotten closer to them, they are like the younger brothers I never had.
"Where were your'll?" I asked as they took a seat.
"The cafe down the street." Eric answered.
"You know that is so unfair." Sebastian mumble but I heard him.
"Jealous of your own brothers. tsk. tsk" I said and he stuck his tongue out like a little kid. "That is what brothers do." William shrugged and I just shook my head.
"
"That reminds me, how come there are only boys in your family except the women that were married into the family" This question had been playing in mind ever since the trip. "Well it's long Alexander histroy." William said.
"Wow me." I said propping my elbows up and nodding my head for him to start.
"It all began somewhere in the 1700s. Our ancestor was a very rich and powerful man and he was arranged to marry a woman of a rich background but he never loved her, his heart belong to a woman who was a maid. He used the woman for pleasure and she gladly gave him but she also slept with other men. So things happened and on their wedding day he left her at the alter and ran off and married his true love." He stopped and I interjected.
"The maid." I said somewhat fascinated by their history. He nodded his head and Anthony continued. "But the rich woman didn't stop there. She fell pregnant and was convinced that the child was his. Our ancestor did not believe her as he knew about her reputation with other men. So he did her a favor and made a deal, when the child was born, they would see if the child is his or not... The baby was born and indeed, the child who was a girl was not his but instead was her gardener's baby. She was furious, she wanted him and she went to the means of calling her witch ancestory to get what she wanted. Since he never accepted her love or her daughter, she cursed him to never have a girl born into his family line for an eternity and they will never learn how to love their daughters." Anthony finished off and I was speechless. The suprise was clear on my face.
"Wow that some family history." I managed to say.
"Yeah, that's why there are no girls in our family excluding those married in." Sebastian said somewhat sad.
"Well I for one don't believe in all those curse, spirit kind of things. I will only believe it when I see it." I said and they chuckled.
"So what can we help you with? After being so deep in the past." William chuckled. "Well your'll can do me a favor and go downtown to see how everything is going with the cake." I instructed them and they simply nodded and left the room, while I talked with the party planner. There was only an hour till the party starts and we were currently in the hotel room getting ready. "Hey Chrissy, did you bring our dresses?" Isa asked me as she was getting ready to do her make up.
"Yes. Yours, Eli's, Selene's and mine is in the closet." I said pulling them out from where they were hanging and showing the dresses which Selene squealed and took hers.
"OMG! It looks even more gorgeous than when we bought it." She beamed and took it out of the bag that it was in.
"There is only 35 minutes and we still never get dressed." Eli panic and we all scrambled putting on our dresses, shoes and jewellery. Our make up was already done which was a huge relief. "Happy Birthday Anabiah and Evelyn!!" Everyone cheered as they blew out the candles on the cake. They called me to help them cut the cake when it supposed to be our parents but they said I should go since my sisters wanted me. After cutting the cake, feeding it to them and all the speeches done, it finally w
as time for the slow dance just for my dad and sisters. It was awkward for my dad because it was two of them but it was decided that all three of them would do a slow dance. It looked so funny yet so adorable.
Their dance was finished and soon everyone was able to dance with them. I was standing in the corner maPotter sure everything was alright when someone approached me.
"You really have out done yourself, Helen." His deep voice said smiling at me. "Thank you William." I smiled back. He was quite handsome, they all were. His dirty blonde hair was gelled back. He was dressed in an all black suit with the shirt tucked out and he was wearing a pair of black sneakers. To be honest he looked really really handsome and his pretty blue eyes...those blue eyes...
"Would you like to dance?" He seemed a bit nervous and I was a bit surprised by that. I looked at Anabiah and Evelyn, they were showing me a thumbs up and Selene was there trying so hard not to laugh. I glared at them and paid my attention back on William.
"Isa and Eli put you up to this." I said trying to hide the smile but it didn't work.
"Yeah, also Selene threatened to castrate me with a rusty spoon, if I didn't come and ask you." He smiled sheepishly and I couldn't help but laugh. "So do you want to dance?" He smiled and for the first I noticed he had a really nice smile. "Yes." I smiled at him and it took a while for it to sink in before he grinned a toothy grin.
He took my hand and guided me to the dance floor where couples were dancing. When we reached the middle of the dance floor, he took my hands and placed it on his shoulders and his went to my waist where he pulled me close and started to sway to the music.
I have to admit it I really enjoyed dancing with him and by the look in his eyes, I could tell he enjoyed it too.
"You look very beautiful." He whispered softly to me, his breath fanning against my ear, maPotter me ticklish.
"Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." I smirked at him and he smirked back.
We didn't say anything after that we just stayed there dancing and enjoying each others presence. It was weird how my feeling towards this man have changed so drastically in just a matter of months. The song was over and the song
"Your'll make such a cute couple!!" Selene squealed.
"I wonder where I heard that before..." I trailed off thinPotter about the time in University. "Helen, he is not David. Just give him a chance." Selene said with a soft smile.
"I can't do that Selene and you know it." I sighed and took a seat furthest from the party and Selene joined me.
"In fact I don't, ever since you came back from god knows where. You have been conpletely different, shutting everyone out, being so cold and emotionless." She frowned at the memories. "I know." I said softly.
"But ever since those boys came you have smiled and laughed more and being that Helen that we know you still are." She said and it hit me like a bus. "I know that look, it finally hit you." She said with a knowing smile.
"Yes." I mumbled.
"So are you going to give him a chance?" She asked.
"I will think about it." I answered her. We both walked back to the party to get my sisters to get them changed in their other dresses and also ourselves. As we were changing in the hotel suite, the memories of all those times with William played in my mind from the fights, to the kisses, the confession and the dance...and...I realised that I have some feelings for him but I was still unsure about giving him a chance .
We finished changing and went back to party to see everyone already seated. We took our seats and the lights were dimmed and a slideshow which I put together for the twins came up. Everyone awed and laughed, some even teared up at the memories of the girls.
After the slideshow and tissues being handed to the crying women, mostly those who have been in the girls lives the longest such as our aunts and grandparents etc. The food was served and everyone got eating.
After eating we did presents and photos and lots of dancing, chatting and laughing.
Chapter 33: Him again...
As soon as a member from the security team I hired informed me that there was a man giving the team a hard time, my blood started to boil when I heard that dreaded name.
I walked with the bodyguard who is Sven and out of the party. We went down the hall and I saw the group of big scary looPotter men surrounding the man who seemed to be causing trouble. "What seems to be the problem?" I asked with a blank expression.
"Miss Potter this guy says he knows you and that he has a personal invitation." Gerard informed me and I glared at the man.
"Please Helen, I need to talk to you."He begged like the weak and useless person he is. "That is Miss Potter to you, Mr Wright and I am a very busy woman to stay hear and hear your pointless stories." I said maintaining the cold exterior. "You have changed, I miss the old Helen, the one I fell in love with back in University. The one who always came to me when she needed a shoulder to cry on and I would always give it to her. The one who's smile could brighten up a room. That is the Helen I still love." He said looPotter so sincere but I could see past his façade.
"Well that Helen is dead and gone and she is never coming back." I said darkly and he looked shocked. "You really have changed..." He mumbled to himself but I heard him clearly.
"Well if you don't mind I have places to be and I would appreciate it if you could leave on your own or I could have my guys escort you out and they will not be gentle." I said in a business like tone. "I will go but just so you know I am not giving up." He said and left. I went back to the party and thankfully not everyone noticed my absence except for my parents, Selene and the boys. I walked to Selene and my parents and the confusion and worry was visible on their faces. "What happened?" They asked. "Nothing I am going home." Was all I said and they seemed to understand, as I was walPotter out of the party, William grabbed up hand and turned me to face him.
"Where are you going?" He asked the worry clear on his handsome face.
"Home." I said and pulled my hand out of his grip and continued on my way out to the SUV parked outside the lobby and waiting to take me to my apartment. I have distracted myself in my work, getting to work early and going home late in the night. Minnie has been worried sick about me but I just didn't care. I avoided any calls or visits from my family or friends, just wanting to be left alone.
"Helen, this is not right." Minnie said walikng into my office." You have eaten and clearly haven't slept. Whatever is going on here I am pretty sure it is about your encounter with David Wright." She continued taPotter a seat in one of the chairs in front of my desk.
"I don't know Minnie, I really don't know"
"Well you have a visitor and I am pretty sure you need this." She said and got up. Just a few seconds after she walked out William walked in.
"What are you doing here." I asked or more like threatened him. "Well for starters, everyone has been worried sick about you, Selene, your sisters and mother have been crying because they think you are going to leave them again. Your father is stressing over your mother and sisters. So I think it is self explainatory what I am doing here." He said staring at me, a small frown caressing his features.
When I didn't say anything, he took a seat and spoke."Look I know that David Wright was there at the party and that is why you went home and I believe he is the cause of this distant shit." He said somewhat angry.
"See here Mr Alexander, I don't need you to be messing with my personal problems so please can you leave." I said not wanting to talk to him. "Fine! but just so you know this is not going to help anyone!" He yelled and stormed out of my office. After he was gone I got back to my work...
It was now 6:30pm and I was busy signing some papers that needed my attention. I was halfway through the stack of papers when my phone rang and I was too busy to answer it.
It rang a second time and I hate being disturbed when I was worPotter, so I got my phone and answered it with really looPotter at the caller ID. "Hello." I said. "Helen, this is Anthony, William was in an accident..." Anthony said sou
nding so worried.
"I will be right there." I said and I left the office with my phone and keys and went to the lobby where Sam was waiting to take me to the hospital.
The ride to the hospital was nerve wrecPotter.
Chapter 34: Love is in the air... Myself, Sebastian, Eric and Dylan were on our way to Uncle J's house when we got a call from the hospital saying that William met an accident and is in hospital. I turned the car around and drove straight to the hospital, running I don't know how many red lights. We called our parents and told them to meet us at the hospital.
We got there just before our parents, Uncle J and Aunt Linda. My mother would not stop crying and dad was busy trying to calm her down with us yelling at the nurses because they don't want to let us see him.
They finally let us in and we saw William, he was sleeping and the doctor told us that he hardly had any outer injuries just a couple scratches but he fractured a couple ribs, hit his head pretty bad, got a whiplash and dislocated his shoulder. So even though he didn't look bad but he was seriously injured.
"Call Helen." Uncle J said and I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I found Helen's number and hit the call button. It rang until it went to voicemail, I tried again and this time she picked up.
"Hello." She answered.
"Helen, this is Anthony, William was in an accident..." I said looPotter at my brother lying there, in the hospital bed.
"I'll be right there."She said and cut the call.
I finally got to the hospital and went to the floor which Anthony texted me and looked for the room which wasn't hard since my father and Uncle Franklin was standing outside.
"How is William?" I asked sounding worried which wasn't my intention but I was secretly worried. "Pretty bad, he fractured his ribs, hit his head pretty bad, needed a stictch on his eyebrow and dislocated his shoulder." Uncle Franklin answered and my heart sank feeling the guilt of being so cold to him.
"You can go in and see him scamp." My father said and I nodded and went in, not bothering about the fact that he called me scamp.
