I wondered if he knew how crazy about him I really was.

He kissed the back of my neck again. I couldn’t help but whimper, and I set my sketchbook on the coffee table.

“Mm,” he said, “I must be good if you’re willing to stop drawing.”

  “Quit talking.” I smiled, though.

  Slowly, I rocked my hips.

It wasn’t much, just enough to give me a little friction, right up against my clit.

It wasn’t as good as Benny’s fingers, but it was a start.

“Love when you do that.” His breath was hot on my neck. “You look so sexy.”

I shifted, rising up on my knees and turning on the couch. Benny met me there, kissing me hard.

I slid both hands under his shirt, lifting it up. Benny pulled it over his head and dropped it to the floor.

He was already getting hard in his pajama pants.

  I groaned in anticipation.

He bent forward and wrapped his arms around me. I let him lift me up, over the back of the couch, and put me down on my feet in front of him.

I immediately pulled the tie of his pajama pants loose.

He went for my shirt, pulling it over my head and dropping it to the floor.

We finished stripping each other in the living room, kissing as much as we could with clothes flying off.

I’d never wanted a man so badly.

I grabbed hold of his hips, letting my nails dig in just enough to make Benny hiss.

He responded by picking me up again.

I wrapped my legs around his waist.

  “Bed?” he asked.

“No.” I shook my head. “Fuck me. Right here, right now.”

  “Hang on, hang on. Condom.”

“Okay, fine,” I said with a pout. “Bed. Because that’s where the condoms are.”

He leaned in to kiss me again, holding me as he carried me down the hall.

In the bedroom, he dropped me on my back on the bed. I looked up at him and spread my legs.

I loved how he looked at me—like I was the most gorgeous thing he’d ever seen.

He grabbed a condom and rolled it on.

We didn’t need much foreplay—both of us were ready to go already.

  He started to say, “How—”

“Lie on your back.” I pushed myself to sit up.

Benny grinned, climbing on the bed and lying down.

I moved to straddle him. My hips fit perfectly over his, like we were made for each other.

I reached down with one hand, holding his cock in place.

  Slowly, I sank down.

  “Bryn.” He sounded breathless.

I loved hearing him like that.

I bit my lower lip, lifting myself up before sinking back down.

Benny’s eyes closed. He lifted his hands to my hips, holding them tight.

“You like this, huh?” I asked.

  “Shut up and go faster.”

I laughed, putting my hands on his stomach to stay balanced. I could feel the definition of his abs, perfectly sculpted.

I kept moving, bouncing on him. When my thighs began to burn, I dropped all the way, rocking my hips.

  “God, Bryn,” he whispered.

“Mm. Love when you talk like that.”

He laughed quietly. His hips flexed up into mine.

  I groaned.

He felt so big inside me, filling me.

I opened my eyes, just a little. He was watching me.

I smiled and leaned back, bouncing again.

Benny groaned and thrust up to meet me.

I lowered one hand to my clit, stroking in quick, tight circles.

But his moan was what did me in. Benny tilted his head back, groaning low in his throat.

My legs started to shake, my voice rising. I pitched forward, hips bucking as the pleasure overwhelmed me.

Benny thrust up one more time, his grip on my hips tightening.

  He always did everything right.

  It was almost unfair.

I rolled off when I could breathe again. He tossed the condom in the trash can beside the bed.

For a moment, we just lay still, breathing.

He closed his eyes, tossing one hand over them. “I love you.”

I felt my blood run cold in my veins.

  He’d never said that before.

And I had no idea what to say in return.

  Chapter Eleven

  Benny

  Present Day

“Bryn,” I said, “come back to my place.”

She bit her lower lip—not gently, like when she was trying to be sexy. This was thoughtful, almost hard.

  It was still sexy.

  “I—I can’t, Benny.”

She opened her eyes, looking at me. “Another time, maybe. Okay? I can’t tonight.”

I let out a soft sigh.

I wanted her. I wanted her back in my bed.

Maybe I wanted her back in my life.

But I pulled my hand from her thigh.

  She looked at me apologetically.

  “Another time,” she promised.

  “Okay.” I nodded.

We finished our drinks. She reached for her purse, but I shook my head.

“I got this,” I said. “Don’t worry about it.”

“Are you sure?” She wrinkled her nose. It was so fucking cute.

“Yeah. I was supposed to make it up to you, right?”

Bryn smiled. “Yeah. I guess so.”

I smiled back. “So we’re good?”

“I dunno if we’re good, but we’re better.”

  “Good.”

I paid for our drinks and we walked out of the bar. My car was back at the shop, but I could get a ride there.

I walked Bryn to her car, my phone already in hand to call for a ride.

“This was nice.” She looked up at me. “I had fun with you, Benny.”

“I had fun, too. Maybe we can do it again sometime?”

  “Sometime. Sure. Sounds good.”

  I nodded. “Okay.”

  “Okay.”

  Neither of us moved.

  “Benny—”

I leaned down, my hands on her waist, and kissed her the way I’d wanted to these past few years.

  She tensed, but then relaxed.

Her arms lifted, wrapping around my neck.

This was exactly what I wanted.

  “Bryn…”

  “Benny…”

She looked up at me and sighed. “Get in the car.”

  * * * * *

We came through the front door like we always did—already kissing, already pulling at each other’s clothes.

Bryn pushed me toward the couch. I tossed my shirt to the floor.

She dropped her blouse with it.

I unhooked her bra, and she slid it off, letting it hit the floor.

  “God, you’re gorgeous,” I said.

  “Shh. Don’t say anything stupid.”

“Okay, okay.” I leaned down to kiss her again, silencing myself.

She rose up on her toes, arms around my neck.

I unzipped her skirt and pushed it down her hips.

She was wearing lacy panties underneath, the back high-cut to expose her ass cheeks.

As if I wasn’t already hard for her.

I grabbed her ass with both hands. She pushed her hips forward, moaning against my mouth.

I pulled back, just a little. “Bryn.”

  “Shh.”

  “I want you so bad.”

  “I can tell.”

She ran her hand over the bulge in my jeans. I moaned, my head tilting back.

  She undid my zipper.

  Her hand slid inside.

Her fingers closed around my cock and she gave me a slow stroke.

I tilted my head back and leaned on the couch.

“You’re acting like nobody’s touched you since me.” Bryn grinned, obviously trying to tease.

  But she was right.

&nbs
p; After her, I hadn’t let another girl in.

She glanced up, raising an eyebrow. Even if I hadn’t said anything, she knew. “Oh my god, Benny, no.”

  “What?”

Bryn laughed softly, shaking her head. “Guess I better make this worth the wait, huh?”

  “Please?”

She chuckled and lifted her head to kiss me again.

  Her hand kept moving.

I wasn’t going to make it if she didn’t stop.

I reached out, gently grabbing her wrist.

Bryn looked up. Her eyes were bright, heated.

  She liked it rough.

I held her wrist, then turned her around and led her to my bed.

She followed, laughing quietly as we pushed open the door to my bedroom.

It was a little messy, but I didn’t care.

I pulled Bryn to my bed, pushing her to sit at the edge of the mattress.

  “Don’t move,” I murmured.

  She smiled wider.

I stripped out of my jeans and underwear, leaving them in the floor. Bryn started to reached for me, but stopped, groaning in frustration.

  “Benny, please.”

  “What?”

“Please.” She repeated it a little more insistently.

I grinned and sank down to my knees.

Her panties came off easily. I tossed them over my shoulder, moaning.

  She smelled delicious.

I pushed her thighs apart and lowered my face between them.

Bryn’s hands curled in my hair, tugging hard.

I wouldn’t do this long, but God, I’d missed it.

I heard the way she was gasping and knew I had to stop.

I wanted this to last a little longer.

I rose, putting my hands on her shoulders and pushing her to lie back.

She went willingly, looking up at me, her hair spread out around her on the mattress.

I rolled on the condom I’d grabbed, moaning quietly at the touch.

“C’mon.” Bryn smiled up at me. “Fuck me, Benny.”

She didn’t have to tell me twice.

I leaned over her, pushing her knees up toward her chest.

My eyes closed as I slid in.

We’d always fit together so perfectly.

  “Holy shit,” Bryn whispered.

  “Right?”

She laughed softly and wrapped her arms around my neck.

I let myself move, enjoying the first thrust. She felt so hot around me. I lowered my hands to her hips, holding her steady.

She still shifted to meet me, letting me sink deep inside her.

No other woman had ever pleased me like Bryn did.

She held me, moaning in my ear. “Benny…harder?”

I shifted, my pace picking up, my breath coming in soft gasps.

She was too good at this, even when she wasn’t the one doing the work.

I tilted my head, nipping at her ear. “Bryn…”

  “Benny, fuck, please—”

Her legs snapped up, tightening around my waist. Her head dropped back against the mattress. She shook under me, crying out in pleasure.

She was all I could think of.

My cock twitched inside her. I stilled, eyes closing tight as I finished inside of her.

And then it was done. I let her go, shifting to lie down next to her.

We lay in bed together, panting softly. Bryn had one arm over her eyes, her other hand resting over her heart.

  I’d missed her.

  So much.

She swallowed, then opened her mouth.

  Closed it again.

  Sighed.

“Can I tell you something?” she asked.

  “Yeah.” I nodded. “Of course.”

“I left because I got scared.”

  I blinked. “What?”

  “I got scared, Benny.”

  “Of what?”

She sighed. “Of us. Of…how things could go wrong.”

  “Okay.”

“I just wanted to…apologize. And tell you I regretted leaving.”

  “Really?”

“Yeah.” She lowered her arm and looked at me. Her smile was almost sad. “We were good together.”

  “Yeah. We really were.”

We could be good together again.

  If she wanted it, anyway.

I rolled over, putting one arm over her stomach.

She sighed and patted my hand. “I can’t stay.”

  “Why not?”

“I just can’t. I gotta be up early.”

“Me, too. I’ll wake you up.”

  “Benny, no.”

  I frowned.

  But I stopped arguing.

Bryn pushed herself up. She climbed over me, found her panties in the floor. She put them back on, then headed for the door.

I just lay there and watched her leave all over again.

  Chapter Twelve

  Bryn

I let myself sleep in. I woke with a little bit of a hangover, but nothing some caffeine and toast wouldn’t kick.

With breakfast in hand, I went to the living room. Normally, I would sit on the couch and draw for a while, warming up for the day.

But it looked like a gorgeous day outside.

I grabbed my art bag, putting it on my shoulder and crossing the room.

A little fresh air sounded perfect.

I opened the door, inhaling. Something sweet-smelling was in bloom, probably at the neighbors’ house.

  I took a step outside.

  And heard a groan.

The coffee mug slipped from my hands. Ceramic shattered on the cement. I whipped around, not sure whether to scream or not.

  Bryan.

He sat against the house, his eyes half-closed.

Somebody had beat the hell out of my little brother.

I tossed my art bag back inside and put my breakfast down. “Bryan. What the fuck?”

He lifted his head. His one open eye was glassy, the other swollen shut. Blood had dried under his nose, all down his shirt.

  “Bryn.”

He sounded like his mouth was full of cotton balls. I’d never imagined that somebody could slur my name, but Bryan was doing it.

I knelt down over him, hands held up. “What—what happened? What the hell?”

  He shook his head. “Just…inside.”

“You need to go to the hospital!”

  “Fuck no.”

My heart was pounding. Tears stung my eyes. The longer I looked at my brother, the more injuries I saw.

“Bryan, come on. What—I can’t even tell where you’re hurt.”

He lifted one hand, waving it at me. “I’m…fine. Fine.”

  He still stank like alcohol.

I didn’t know what to do. I definitely couldn’t move him inside on my own, and he wasn’t going to get up on his own.

“Don’t move.” I turned away from him and rushed back inside, finding my phone on the table where I’d left it.

I called the only person I could think of.

  “Hello?”

Benny still sounded sleepy. Had I woken him up? I didn’t know, and right now wasn’t the time to ask.

  I let out a sob.

“Bryn?” He sounded a lot more awake now.

“It’s Bryan.” I managed to choke the words out through my tears.

“What—what happened?” In the background, I could hear rustling, movement. It sounded like he was getting out of bed, maybe dressing.

“I don’t know. Somebody beat the shit out of him, and he won’t talk, and I can’t get him inside.”

  “Is he at the house?”

  “Yeah, in the back yard.”

“Okay. I’ll be there soon. My car’s at the shop but I can get there fast.”

  “Please hurry.” I sobbed again.

“I’ll be there soon, Bryn. Promise.”

He said goodbye and hung up.

I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. I had to work on getti
ng Bryan cleaned up, at least. Still weeping, I went to the kitchen and filled a bowl with hot water. I grabbed the towels from the handle of the oven and carried them outside.

Bryan hadn’t moved. He looked up at me, but said nothing.

I knelt down next to him, wetting one of the towels and starting to wipe blood from his face.

“I don’t need you fussing over me.”

God, it barely sounded like him.

I sobbed again. “Well, what the hell else am I supposed to do?”

  “Shut up.”

“Dammit, Bryan. I’m your sister. I’m doing this because I love you, even if you are being a jackass.”

He went silent, glaring at me with one eye.

I shook my head. “I love you. I always will. But I can’t help you if you don’t talk to me.”

  Bryan sighed heavily.

I shut my eyes. “Just, start with yes or no. Are you drunk?”

  Slowly, he nodded.

  “Are you just drunk?”

  Bryan shook his head.

  “Pot?”

  No.

  “Speed?”

  No.

  “Cocaine?”

  Yes.

  “God dammit, Bryan.”

  He huffed, lowering his gaze.

“Did you drive here?” I asked.

  Another nod.

  “On your motorcycle?”

  Yes.

“You know you could have died, right? Or killed someone else?”

  He shrugged.

“Don’t fucking shrug at me. This is serious.”

  He rolled his eye.

“So, why are you outside? Could you not get the door open?”

He shook his head. “Couldn’t work the key.”

  At least he was talking.

“Did you get in a fight with another gang?”

  Slowly, he shook his head.

  My stomach twisted.

“Somebody in the King’s Devils did this?”

  He nodded.

  “Bryan.”

  He shut his eye.

“I need you to tell me what’s going on. So I can help you solve the problem.”

He sighed and shook his head. “You can’t help me. It’s too far.”

“Okay, well, tell me? Maybe I’ll think of something you didn’t.”

He inhaled deeply. “I…got caught stealing.”

“Stealing what?” I sat back on my heels, looking at him.

  “Money.”

“Why were you stealing money, Bryan?”

  “For the coke.”

I squeezed my eyes shut for a moment. “Okay. Okay. So, you have a problem.”

“Calling it a problem makes it sound like I want it to stop.”
