Chapatti: It is an unleavened flatbread from the Indian Subcontinent. Chapatti is made of whole wheat flour, salt and water, and is cooked on a flat skillet.
Achaar: A word for pickles in Indo-Aryan languages.
Parathas: It is a flatbread that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is layered cooked flat bread.
Sabji: Vegetables cooked dry with spices and served with Chapatti or Rice.
Sasural: In-law’s house.
Seth: In this context a very rich man.
Didi: Elder sister.
Lehenga: It is a form of skirt from the Indian subcontinent which is long, embroidered and pleated.
Choli: It is a midriff-baring blouse or upper garment commonly worn with the Indian sari or lehenga.
Suhaag Raat: It is a significant ritual in the life of a newlywed couple in the Indian subcontinent, refers to the first night when the marriage is consummated. The bed of the newlywed couple is decorated with flowers, which are believed to bring sweetness to their relationship.[1] This is an important custom followed in Vedic Hindu marriages
Ghoonghat: It is a veil worn by Indian women, especially by the brides in north India, mainly covering their face.
Maang teeka: It is a composite ornament composed of a chain with a hook at one end and a pendant at the other. The hook holds it at the hair end, while the pendant falls on the exact center of the forehead.
Bindi: It is a red dot worn on the center of the forehead, commonly by Hindu and Jain women. It is now available in varied designs and color.
Jamai ji: Son in law.
Dupatta: It is a scarf that is like a shawl and is essential to many South Asian women's clothing (usually matched with the garment). The dupatta is most commonly used as part of the women's salwar kameez costume and worn over the kurta, but is originally part of the lehenga choli outfit. It is used as a veil as well.
Pallu: The loose end of a sari or a dupatta, worn over one shoulder or the head.
Dori: In this context it is the decorated matching two long thick threads attached to the shoulders of the choli and tied at the back which helps in holding the wide necked blouse together.
Shervani: It is a long coat-like garment worn in the Indian subcontinent. It was traditionally associated with the Indian subcontinent. It is worn over a kurta with the combination of either a churidar, a dhoti, a pajama, or a salwar/sirwal as the lower-body clothing. It is often made from heavier suiting fabrics, and by the presence of a lining.
