The Trouble With Two Alpha's

“Miss Cross it will be my honor to teach you. If you would please follow me. We can get started right away. When does he want her to take on a table?”
“As soon as possible. When you think she is ready, bring her back to me and I will give her a uniform.”
He smiled at me and waved for me to walk with him. I got up and thanked Mrs. Bixby for the opportunity and followed him out of her office.
Following him down the hall was nice. I watched his ass as we walked. It was a nice firm ass. He had a nice body period. One a woman could run her hands all over. What was I thinking? I shook myself out of it. I had to stop thinking of every man I came across as a nice body to get laid by.
He led me down a hall into a room that had only a handful of tables in it. He told me to sit and then he proceeded to tell me all about the game.
Once I had the rules down, he had me play a few games with him. Then he showed me what I did wrong and how I would deal the cards when I was on the floor.
Irwin went slow with her, so he could spend more time with her. She was nice to look at and nice to talk to. He wondered if she had a mate. He didn’t see any marks on her or scent another male.
It took hours before he seemed satisfied. Once he was satisfied, he took Gabi back to Mrs. Bixby’s office. She was on the phone when they walked in. He told Gabi to wait. He said he had to step out for a minute that he would be back in a minute.
Mrs. Bixby got off the phone and turned to me. I swear I could still see the anger in her eyes. What did I ever do to this woman? Heck, I had only met her once when she did the interview.
“Here is your uniform you are required to wear when you’re on duty. You will have to provide your own shoes. You must wear at least a four-inch heel. The sexier our dealers look the more people drop money at our tables.”
She handed me the uniform and I took a look at it. There wasn’t much to it. The shorts looked like they would barely cover the crack of my butt. The shirt was in the shape of a vest and was black and white. It wouldn’t cover much either. The front was very low cut.
I took my uniform and headed to the store to find the right size heels. I didn’t usually dress up, so I didn’t have any heels. I found a black pair that I thought would be perfect to go with the uniform.
Once I had everything, I needed I headed back to the little house I had rented the first week I was in town.
When I was getting ready for work, I got my first good look of what I was going to look like in my uniform. I was shocked. Dressed like I was, showed just about everything I had to offer. All my curves were in the right places. My breast stood up and hung over a bit at the top of my vest. My legs looked twice as long as they usually did to me in the short, short, shorts. Then add the fishnet stockings and high heels that said fuck me. I looked fabulous.
I never really thought I looked good before this moment. I always knew my breast caught every man’s attention, but other than that I never really thought about what I looked like.
But you put the right uniform on, and I looked like a model or something. I was truly taken back with myself. Who knew I could look so good.
My first day as a blackjack dealer, and I thought I was about to pass out from nausea. I was so nervous the minute I walked into the casino.
I was watching for her knowing what time she was scheduled to come on. When she walked in wearing that tiny little outfit, I nearly fell over. Damn, she is gorgeous! I couldn’t take my eyes off her and I still hadn’t met her. Miss Cross was everything I wanted in a mate. Soon, very soon I was going to have to meet her.
Then I thought about her in that tiny outfit working with all the men who would come to her table and I about lost it. No, she shouldn’t be dressed like that for every man to drool over.
I was just about to go downstairs when I got a call. I had an emergency out of town. She would have to wait. I called Irwin on his cell and told him I was going out of town for a couple of days that he was to keep a special eye on Miss Cross. That if anything happened to her it was his neck.
Gabi reported to Irwin first. Then he went over everything one last time. She wasn’t so sure of herself. She asks him, “What if I screw up?”
“I don’t think you will have any problems Miss Cross. After all, you were taught by one of the best blackjack dealers around. Me.”
She is the most beautiful human female I ever laid eyes on. When my Alpha called to let me know he was going out of town I thought good. That would give me time to get closer to Miss Cross. Then he had to go and ruin everything. He said I was to keep a close eye on her. In other words, he wanted her for himself and if anything happened while he was gone, I would pay dearly. Damn him!
Gabi was so nervous. Not only was Irwin watching her every move, but so was Brett the floor manager. What if she couldn’t get the hang of it? What if they didn’t like the way she placed the cards down on the table. All these little crazy things started running through her head.
Irwin assured Gabi, she was going to do just fine. His smile was enough to make her think nothing she did would count against her.
I hated leaving Miss Cross at the casino without me there to watch over her. Something about her really pulled my attention in her direction. But I had to go home to the den and see what was going on. Seems my pack had gotten into a bit of a situation when they found a female, they wanted only to find out another pack of wolves had moved in close to her. Close to our home territory.
“Alpha sir, we have been watching them. They stayed with the human female working on her house. Then, once the house was finished, they guarded her. Something about her is special. Why else would they guard her?”
“Yes, why indeed? Where is this human female now?”
“Well, that is the thing, we went to her house only to be discovered. Two of their wolves followed us and we had to take off. The next time we went to her house it was empty. She was gone.”
“Gone huh? Do you think the pack of wolves who found you, took off with her?”
“We did at first, but we accidentally overheard a conversation in town. Seems the Alpha of their pack is asking questions all over town. Seems he wants to know if anyone sees her. He has put out a reward for her.”
“That is very interesting. Do you think she was his mate?”
“If she was, why wasn’t she living with him and his pack? They didn’t live where she did. We have found their den. They have several cabins on the other side of the mountain. Plus, since she went missing no one has been back to her house. I don’t think they believe she will return.”
“Where do you think she went? Do you have any clues to who she is or why she left in the first place?”
“Again, we overheard things from his pack. They didn’t know we were listening. Seems the Alpha had a fight with her. Apparently, she doesn’t believe he is a werewolf. She thinks he is crazy. He thinks she is his soul mate. His pack thinks she is special. They all have feelings for this human.”
“That too is interesting. Why would the pack think of her as special unless there was something there? So what if she doesn’t believe in werewolves, if she is his mate and he believed it why didn’t he mark her? Why has he not mated with her? Something doesn’t seem right here.”
He had to wonder who the female I question was and why an alpha would think she was his soul mate yet not mate with her. Most wolves when they found their mate, they went after her and marked her right away.
Chapter 12
The first day went by without any problems. The next week seemed to really fly by. I was really enjoying being a blackjack dealer. I was meeting people from all over the world.
Everyone was so friendly to me, especially the men. I was glad to be a dealer. Irwin had stopped standing behind me and watching every move I made. That had been the hardest part about my first week.
“Well, well, Miss Cross we meet again. Tonight, I hope you deal me a winning hand. I am beginning to think you’re getting all my money and I am getting nothing
in return.”
“Aw Mr. Davenport it is nice to see you again. You in town for the weekend or just passing through?”
“I haven’t decided. My next hand may be the deciding point. Or if you agree to go out with me, I might be staying longer.”
Gabi couldn’t help but blush. This old man was making passes at her. He must be fifty. He was nice to her sure, but Gabi was not into older men. Not old enough to be her father.
“Now Mr. Davenport you know I am not allowed to go out with customers. How would it look? People might think you only ask me out to get me to fix your next game at my table. Sorry, no can do.”
Irwin watched Gabi as an old man tried to talk her into going out with him. She had no idea he could hear their conversation from where he stood. Irwin was impressed with the way she handled the old man. Irwin was a good teacher and she had been a good student. Blackjack was her thing. She was raking in the money. People seemed to flock to her table.
Now that Gabi had the game down, she loved it. It seemed like she had forgotten most of her problems. All though Jack had her number and called nearly every day. Gabi just didn’t answer the phone. Thank goodness for caller I.D.
I sit in my office and watch Gabi Cross every evening. Night after night. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. To sit here and watch other men drooling all over her, makes me angry. I had been back from the den for three nights now. And so far, every man within a hundred miles seemed to find their way to her table. All ages drooling over her trying to get into her shorts.
I was so angry I nearly put my fist through my desktop. Thankfully, I had a meeting to attend that would take me away from her for a while. Otherwise I might go downstairs and beat someone up for looking at her.
The first few weeks went by in a blur. I had started working a little later in the evenings and longer hours. Usually getting off somewhere around two or three in the morning. I didn’t mind that though. Less time to think about Jack at night.
I had watched her flirting with so many men it made me sick. I had to meet her. I would introduce myself to her. I headed downstairs to meet her. I decided it best if I didn’t tell her who I was. Why, I wasn’t sure.
I took a seat at her table. I placed my bet and started talking to her. She was so sweet. Her scent was overwhelming. It made me want to mate with her right there in front of everyone. I really had to force my wolf down.
The wolf in me wanted to claim her the minute I caught her scent. What was it about this beauty that had my wolf going wild inside? Did my wolf recognize her as our mate?
“You come here often Mr.?”
“Yes, as a matter of fact, I do. Miss Cross how do you like working here in the casino?”
He stared at my name tag like he was memorizing it. I couldn’t help noticing just how handsome he was. He was dressed to kill in a three-piece suit.
His suit had to have been tailored the way it fit him like a glove. He wore a dark blue suit with a light blue shirt. His shoes were polished black and shined.
His shoulders were very broad. Even broader than Jack’s had been and that was saying something. His smile was alluring. His eyes were a brilliant blue. He had black hair that lay down his back just past his collar. He was tall and dark skinned. He must work outside a lot.
“I like it a lot. I get to meet people from all over the world. So far, I have met people from as far away as China. And everyone has been so friendly to me.”
Yeah, that he knew. Too friendly as far as he was concerned. He sat at her table for a couple of hours till Irwin stepped over to his side and whispered in his ear. He had a call he needed to take.
When he stepped away, he heard her asking Irwin, who he was. He hadn’t given her his name. Irwin said he was just one of their regulars. Nice he hadn’t told her who he really was. Her boss, his Alpha. There was still time for her to learn all about him and his pack once he made up his mind what he was going to do with her.
Gabi watched as Irwin leaned down and whispered something to the handsome man at her table. Then the man smiled at her and walked away. She watched as he walked away.
He was so fine. If only she was his type. There she went again thinking naughty thoughts about a man she had barely met. What was wrong with her? Men didn’t usually get her attention so easily. Maybe she needed to get laid.
Irwin smiled at her and ask how she was doing. She then asks him about the man who had been at her table.
“Him, he is one of our regulars. He comes in often. Don’t you think you should keep your eye on the table? Not the men?”
Was he jealous? He sounded jealous. She smiled at him, then went back to working her table. Irwin was a nice guy, one that could take care of her itch if she could get close to him.
When I got off work, I started walking toward the back door. I had parked out the back on the street behind the casino. I wasn’t permitted yet to park in the parking deck it was for important people. At least that was what I had been told.
Irwin had to be the bad guy when it came to telling her she couldn’t park in the parking deck. It was for wolves only. Most of the employees at the casino were werewolf. The pack was large enough that it took several of them working in the casino to keep the money in the pack.
When Irwin saw Gabi walking out the back door, he called her name. She shouldn’t be walking outside at three in the morning all alone.
“Gabi, wait up.”
I heard him call my name, so I stopped to see what he wanted. Did I need to stay and work a little longer? We had been really busy lately.
“You need me?”
“No, I just don’t want you walking outside this time of the morning alone. I will walk you to your car. Where are you parked?”
“Down the street a little ways. I had to park behind the casino to get a place. Seems the front parking lot is always full.”
“Yes, we like it that way. I am sorry you’re not allowed to park in the parking garage. It would be so much safer for you. But it’s company policy for the most important clients to park there and the top dogs or bosses.”
“I don’t mind. You don’t have to worry about me. I can take care of myself. Why don’t you go back inside? I am sure you have better things to do than walk me to my car.”
“You might think so, huh. But I am going to walk you to your car. It’s dark out and you never know what kind of animals are on the street behind the casino. It really should have better lighting.”
He put his hand on my lower back and gave me a slight push toward the parking on the street. He kept his hand on my lower back as we walked. It was weird, I didn’t feel anything when he touched me.
It wasn’t at all like when Jack had touched me. Just one thought and he was on my mind all night long. I wondered if he had stopped wondering where I was. If he had looked for me for a while. Had he even tried to find out where I was?
Irwin tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. I had gotten lost in my thoughts. My mind seemed to never stop thinking about Jack no matter how much I tried.
“Oh, sorry, did you say something?”
“Yes, I did. Where were you? One minute we were talking then the next you seemed to be far away, gone. Did I miss something?”
“No, sorry. I just was thinking about my life, my old life. What were you saying?”
“I was saying I hope you have a good night. Be careful on your drive home. I wouldn’t want anything happening to my best blackjack dealer. You have brought in twice as much business as the other dealers.”
I watched as Miss Cross started out the back door. Then I saw Irwin running after her. I could only watch while they were inside the building. The cameras out back were broken. I had yet to get them fixed. Nothing much ever went on out back.
But to see Irwin running after her I had to wonder what he was up to. Then I realized he was probably just walking her to her car. That was good of him. I guess he took my warning to heart that if anything should happen to her it was his ne
ck on the line.
I watched and waited for Irwin to come back inside I would call him up to the office to make sure that was all he had done with Miss Cross.
Irwin stood there talking to Miss Cross for several minutes. She was so easy to talk to. They laughed at a few things, then she said she had to go. She was yawning.
Irwin had been outside a very long time it seemed to Miles. As Pack Alpha he didn’t like it when his wolves disrespected his word. He had told Irwin to make sure nothing happened to the human not to try something with her. If he laid a hand on her, so help him, he would die a slow painful death.
Irwin had no sooner stepped in the back door when he felt the power of his Alpha’s anger coming his way. He had no idea why. He looked down the long hall to see Alpha Redwood hurrying his way.
“Irwin where have you been? What have you been up to? Did you see Miss Cross leave?”
He would see if Irwin would lie or tell him the truth. Irwin had no idea he had been watching him.
“Yes, I did see Miss Cross leave. In fact, I just walked her out to her car. I thought with it being so late and so dark out it wasn’t safe for her to go alone. Did you need me for something?”
“No, I was looking for Miss Cross. It is good that you walked her out as long as you didn’t touch her. I don’t know yet what I am going to do with Miss Cross, but I am here to tell you now that I lay claim to her for now. She is under my protection as such you and the rest of the pack will protect her with your lives if it is necessary.”
“Of course, Alpha sir.”
Something about the way his alpha looked at him told him he had been watching and knew he had walked her outside. But why did it bother him so?
“Alpha sir, if I may ask is there something about Miss Cross that makes you think she is your mate?”
“Yes, you may ask. I don’t know what it is about her yet. But something calls to me whenever I see her. I have only met her this night and even before I met her, I wanted her near me. The minute she walked into the casino to apply for the job I knew she must work her. That I must keep an eye on her. Is she my mate, I don’t know for sure. Perhaps if I get to spend more time with her, I will be able to make my mind up. My wolf thinks she is. I have never had to fight my wolf as hard as when I sat at her table. It was almost more than I could do.”
