The Trouble With Two Alpha's

Ten minutes later they were back. They shifted and told him they had indeed found a wolf pack. “We are on the back side of their territory from what we can tell. We found trails of many wolves. We followed the ridge so they couldn’t pick up our scent. It leads around this mountain to a gate with guards. The road we are on now can get us there in a few minutes, we just need to back track and turn onto another road.”

“Lead the way.” Jack got in his truck and let them tell him where to turn.

Miles had killed the bomber and made it back home. All in all, he had been gone almost two weeks. He hated being away from Gabi that long.

He had checked on everything at the casino from his office at home. He had called Irwin and talked to him to make sure the wolves hadn’t caused any trouble since they had just shown up out of the blue.

Irwin had told him they left without incident. That didn’t set well with him. He was suspicious. He went over things at the house. Everything there seemed to be running smooth.

The next thing he wanted to take care of was meeting his mate. He had sent for Gabi. He had his chair turned to where she wouldn’t see him when she walked in the room. He was staring out the window, trying to stay calm. His wolf was fighting to get loose. His mate was near, and he was going to have her today.

It was very early morning when Jack and his pack pulled up to the guarded gate. He had left part of the pack in the woods in case they were needed. He didn’t want to go in looking like he was there to attack them. He wanted to try and negotiate with their Alpha first before attacking them so Gabi wouldn’t get hurt.

Miles was waiting for Gabi when his phone rang. It was the front gate. What could they want this time of day? It was too early for them to be bothering him. After all, he just got home. He answered it in a huff.

  “What do you want?”

“Sir, there is an Alpha Blackwood at the gate requesting a meeting with you. Should we let him in?”

“Alpha Blackwood? I don’t believe I know an Alpha Blackwood. Is he alone?”

“No sir. There are four guards with him.”

“Only four? I guess he hasn’t come to attack us then. Make sure the pack is aware of our company. Have them look around outside the gate. I wouldn’t want any of his pack to try and sneak up on us. Go ahead and have him escorted up to the house.”

  “Yes sir.”

In the meantime, Alpha Redwood waited for Gabi to come to his study. He hadn’t gotten to see her since she had been brought to the den house.

Gabi was told to report to the boss in the study. She had been working at the house for two weeks and had not yet met this boss. Andrew had escorted her to the house. He was the one she reported to so far.

Gabi followed the hall to the study. She was about to knock when the door was opened for her. A man stood just inside the door and waved her in. A man she hadn’t met before.

Gabi walked in thinking he was the boss she was supposed to see. “You wanted to see me?”

He stood inches from her. He nodded his head toward the other side of the room, then he backed out of the room. Gabi turned to see who he had nodded toward. There was a high back chair turned to where she couldn’t see its occupant.

  “Come closer.” Said a voice.

She did as instructed. She walked over and stood in front of the desk. He didn’t turn to her. That sort of pissed her off. How rude she thought.

“Miss Cross how are you liking it here?”

  “It’s ok, I guess.”

“You don’t sound so sure. Have you been treated right? Has everyone been helpful?”

“I do what they tell me to do, then I go back to my room. I really haven’t associated with them. I am doing my work, working off my punishment.”

He turned in his chair to face her. She gasps when she saw him. She remembered him from the club.

“You? You’re the boss? You’re the one who… I am sorry about your car and the damage to the parking deck. I hope you know I had nothing to do with the bomb.”

He smiled, then stood and rounded the desk to stand in front of her. He reached for her hand and raised it to his mouth. The minute his hand made contact with her skin he felt a jolt. Yes, just what he suspected she was his mate.

Gabi felt like she had been burned when he took her hand. She tried to pull it away from him, but he wouldn’t let her. Then to make matters worse, he bent down and kissed her hand. That made her panties wet. What the hell was wrong with her?

“Miss Gabi it is my pleasure to finally meet you properly. I assume you recognize me from your table at the casino. Yes, I am your new boss. Old one too. We never really got a chance to talk when you were working at the blackjack table. As for my car and the parking deck I do know it is because of you that I am still breathing. If you hadn’t pushed my car into that wall, I would have been in it when it exploded. I owe you big time.”

Gabi was so confused. Was he telling her that he was in charge of the casino? Was he her boss there too? Wait, he was thanking her for blowing up his BMW?

Miles could see the wheels turning in Gabi’s head. She was trying to figure it all out. How was he her old boss and now her new boss too. He smiled, then lifted her chin up, so she was looking at him.

“I am the casino owner. I own several places Miss Cross. I had planned to be in court the day you were brought in front of the judge, but I had to be in a meeting. I had called and talked to Judge Wiggins on your behalf. I explained to her that you were working for me in the casino and that I was sure you had nothing to do with the bomb. I told her that if there was to be any punishment, I would take care of it. I didn’t want you to go to jail for something you had nothing to do with.”

“You seem so sure I didn’t. How do you know I had nothing to do with it?”

“Miss Cross, Gabi I have surveillance cameras everywhere around the casino. I had to go back through them to find out who had placed the bomb. Unfortunately, they wore a hooded sweatshirt and we couldn’t get a good look, but I assure you I knew it wasn’t you even before I looked at the video.”

“So you couldn’t see who did it? But you’re sure it wasn’t me? I am glad you know it wasn’t me. Does that mean I can go back to work at the casino now?”

“No, I am afraid not. Until I find out who did try to kill me, I want you to be here where you can be protected. (He smiled to himself, knowing it was already taken care of) Now, as for your punishment I hope that my pack hasn’t been too hard on you. They are supposed to be teaching you your place in the pack. You will soon be the one telling them what to do.”

  “I don’t understand, what is a pack?”

“Right you don’t know what we are. For now, let’s just say that is what I call my family.”

“I still don’t understand, how would I be part of your family, we’re not related. As far as I know I have no family.”

“Yes, that is something we need to talk about. See I am a werewolf. You are my mate. My wolf can tell. From the day you walked…

Gabi backed away from him very quickly. Not another handsome man telling her he was a werewolf. Why are all the gorgeous men crazy?

  “Gabi is something wrong?”

She walked over and stood in front of the big window. It was open, but there was a screen on it. If she had to though she believed she could jump through it. She knew there was someone outside the office door.

Miles knew she was thinking about running. He walked over and stood right behind her. He put his arms around her waist. Then he bent down and put his chin on her shoulder. He sniffed in her scent. Oh yes, his wolf thought. He thought he was in heaven.

“Gabi (His voice all rough) Gabi I know you’re thinking about what I just said, and you are wanting to run but please don’t. I would come after you. My wolf would follow you anywhere you went. I can find you now no matter where you go. My wolf recognizes your scent. We recognize you as so much more than human. You’re my other half. My soul mate.”

  Just freaking great another
maniac. He is so gorgeous, but just as crazy as Jack. I suppose next he will tell me everyone here is a werewolf too.

“Everyone in my pack is werewolf Gabi. Once we have mated you will be too. I promise to make you happy. I will give you anything you ever ask for and more. My pack will protect you with their lives. You will be safe here.”

“Um, I don’t think I believe you. I mean werewolf, really? I know they’re only real in movies and books. I will be going now. I will go back to court and take my punishment with Judge Wiggins. I think you need help.”

Before I could move there was a knock on the study door. He told whoever it was to come in without turning to look he spoke.

“Alpha Blackwood, to what do I owe this unannounced visit?”

Jack? Gabi heard the name and then his voice. Oh, crap he had found her.

“I am looking for my mate. She seems to have stumbled into your pack somehow. Her name is…

“Jack, what are you doing here?”

Miles looked down at Gabi. He was confused. She didn’t wear a mark. He was pretty sure, but to be absolutely sure he reached down and pulled her shirt away from her shoulders. She tried to see what he was doing.

“She wears no mark. She is my mate. You will leave here now before I kill you. You have no reason to be here. Now go!”

Gabi was scared they were going to fight. She pushed away from Miles and spun out of his reach to face Jack. Jack started toward her.

“Jack, I don’t know how you knew I was here but really like I was telling Mr.? I am sorry, I don’t even know your name.”

“Alpha Miles Redwood. You do know me. We met at the casino and you have been working for me for a while now. I don’t know why this wolf thinks you’re his mate, but Gabi your mine!”

“Whoa, wait just a minute. I am no body’s mate or whatever. I am my own woman. I don’t believe in werewolves and I do not plan to. Now I realize I owe you for what happened to your car and casino, but I will go back to the Judge and work it out with her. You will get your pay. I am sorry there is some confusion here. Jack and I are not mates either. He thinks he is a werewolf too. I don’t know what you people have been smoking or drinking or whatever, but I want no part of it.”

Jack started to grab Gabi and run with her, but Miles saw him coming. He pushed Gabi behind him and started shifting. Jack started shifting too. Then, before Gabi could do anything there stood two large wolves one Black one Red. She was in shock.

An arm grabbed her out of the way and pulled her out into the hallway, then she was forced to the living room. She couldn’t think. She knew what she had seen wasn’t possible. No, men did not turn into wolves. Not Possible!

The wolves were growling and attacking each other. Men were running into the house from all directions. Gabi was in the arms of someone, but she didn’t know who or care. Her brain was trying to understand what she had just seen.

The two large wolves came crashing out of the study into the living room. Gabi was again pulled out of the way. She heard a howl, then a snap. It wasn’t till she felt something hit her face that she snapped out of it.

Gabi reached up and wiped her face, then looked at the sticky red substance on her hand. She was covered in blood. She shoved out of the arms holding her and ran up the stairs to the room she had been given. She packed her things and jumped out the window.

She had no idea what was going on and she wasn’t going to stick around and see either. She had no idea where she was going or how she was going to get there. She had been driven to this house. Her car was back at her rented house in town. She knew it had taken them a long time to get here.

The wolves were all watching as their Alpha’s fought. The house was being shredded. Then Alpha Miles shoved Alpha Blackwood out the living room window. The fight was now in the front yard.

Wolves circled them and howled as if cheering them on. The fight was going strong till another wolf stepped out on the porch and howled.

Both Alphas broke apart to look at the wolf howling.

  “She is gone!”

Both wolves shifted back to human form. They waited for more explanation. The wolf on the porch went on to tell them he went up to Gabi’s room to check on her to find her things gone and her window open.

“Shit! I am going after her. Gabi you’re not getting away this time. Elliot let’s go. Call the others and tell them what has happened. We will find her. Then my mate will be going home with me!”

“My pack will find my mate and bring her back here. If you ever step foot on my territory again, I will kill you. Pack search for her. Move!”

No one knew how much of a head start Gabi had. The fight had been going for a while. Gabi had managed to avoid them running through the woods to the left of the driveway. She made it to the road down a ways from the gate. She started running along the road trying to make her way out of there before they came after her. The first car that came along stopped.

“You need a ride young lady?”

“Yes, please. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get home.”

She had to think of something to tell the old man so he wouldn’t think she was crazy. She couldn’t tell him werewolves were after her.

“I had a fight with my boyfriend on our way out of town and he just dumped me on the side of the road. My car is back at our house in town.”

“Which town? You do realize there isn’t a town close to here, don’t you?”

She told him which town and he told her he would see to it she got home. He was disgusted that any man would just dump a woman on the side of the road.

She was covered in blood. He asks if she was hurt. She said she wasn’t. He asks her whose blood, she was covered in. She wiped her face again. Then she looked away from him and pretended she had been hit by her boyfriend.

“You want me to take you to the police station so you can report him? No man has the right to hit a woman. You have lost a lot of blood. I should take you to the hospital. Is it your head that has bled?” He asks her.

“I’m alright. Please just take me to my car so I can leave him. I need to get to my car and get the rest of my things. I only have a few things with me. We were supposed to be going away for the weekend. Then we got into a stupid fight and well he just pulled over and told me to get out. Then he sped off. He just left me standing there on the side of the road. He didn’t care if I was bleeding. He hit me in the nose. My nose bled. But I am alright. I just want to get my things and be gone before he comes home.”

Before they could find her, she thought. As far as she knew Alpha Redwood or whatever his name was knew where she lived. After all, it was one of his men or wolves who had picked her up.

The old gentleman drove her back to her old house. When she got there her car was missing. Then when she tried the front door, she found the door unlocked. She went inside to find the house empty. All her things were gone. There wasn’t anything left in the house. Not even the furniture. Which hadn’t even belonged to her. She ran next door to the landlord’s house and ask him what had happened to her things.

“Some men came and hauled it all away. They told me you had gotten married. Said they were supposed to pack up your things while you were gone on your honeymoon. I take it you didn’t get married. Or you wouldn’t be here looking for your things. Should we call the police?” Ask Mr. Walker.

“I don’t know. I mean I am not even sure who took my things. They took my car too?” She asks him. He nodded yes. She had no idea what to do. Where to go. She couldn’t go back to her house in the woods, Jack would find her. She had no car to drive away in. She could buy another one, but she didn’t want to waste the money. Plus, they could trace her if she did. She couldn’t rent one again, they could trace her.

“Miss Cross are you alright? You look a little green. Are you going to pass out? Should I call an ambulance?” He was very concerned about her. She really looked sick suddenly.

“Could you do me a huge favor if I pay you?” He asks her what she neede
d. She asks him if he would take her to the airport, then buy a ticket for her in his daughter’s name, so no one could track her down. She told him she wasn’t sure who took her things and why they were after her. But she was scared they would find her and hurt her.

“But what if they ask you for ID along the way?” She hadn’t thought about that. “I will just tell them I left it had home and I can’t get it right away. What can they do if I am miles from home?” It was a chance she would have to take.

“I will do it if you think it will help you. But I think you should go to the police. If these people are after you and you think they might try to hurt you, then you should seek help.” But if she wanted to fly away who was he to get involved.

He grabbed his car keys and took her to the airport. Gabi stood in the terminal waiting for him to get her a ticket. She should have known someone would be watching. Should have known it wouldn’t be that easy to get away.

When Jack had left Alpha Redwoods place, he had his pack split up. He sent some to her address. They had finally located where she had rented a house. Then some to the airport and some to the bus station. They had gone to her house in time to see her car and things being taken by what he now presumed was Miles Redwoods pack. He knew she didn’t have her car.

He had followed her scent off the Redwoods territory to find she had been picked up on the road. He wasn’t sure where she had gone after that.

Gabi got the funniest feeling she was being watched. She looked around but didn’t see anyone watching her. She told herself she was being paranoid.

Elliot had spotted her standing in a corridor at the airport. She appeared to be waiting on someone. The minute he had seen her he called his father to let him know he had her in his sights.

“She is at the airport. I am watching her now. Should I approach her or wait till you get here?” Elliot ask his father. He was nervous about waiting. He didn’t want her to get on a plane and leave.

“Stay close to her. If it looks like she is going to board a plane, grab her and haul her outside. Don’t let her leave. I am ten minutes out. Do you see any signs of the other pack?”
