“That will never happen, Chandra. This plane must be made ready for the one who is returning soon.”

“Rafael, don’t you know that before Our Holy Father would allow Satan to destroy this plane, He would come here personally with his legion of Angles and stand between His children and Satan’s wrath? You think your Satan is strong enough to destroy God’s children? He isn’t. Take the rest of your kind and leave here. Or they will all suffer the same fate you have suffered.”

“I cannot leave my grandson to fight this fight alone. He needs me now more than ever.”

“No one needs you, Rafael. Least of all Lawrence.”

“Lawrence is the last of the Hindels. All of our family came here to band together in the destruction of the parish children. They were destroyed along with the Hindel Mansion,” There was genuine sadness in his voice as he spoke his thoughts.

“You are saying that Lawrence is the last of the Hindel name?” Chandra watched him looking for any deception. “The Hindel Family has been living here in Louisiana and abroad for some two-hundred years.”

“Yes, we are much revered. It was a dark day when Jonathan was taken from us.” Anger replaced sadness in his eyes and his voice.

“And even though I am the one to see to his demise you and your family sought a vendetta against Jack and Donavan Hays.”

“Yes.” Although his voice was a mere whisper, the fire in that one word carried all the hatred his black soul was feeling.

“Why have you been so lax in trying to destroy me, Rafael? Were it not for me your son would still be walking by your side.” She watched the anger boiling up and she pushed him to further its heat. “You say you need to stay on this plane even though you are no longer in body, to aide and protect Lawrence?”

“I must. He is all we have now. He must carry on the Hindel bloodline.”

“But you know how weak and feminine Lawrence is. Perhaps he will not want to build the Hindel bloodline.” She disliked talking about her son in such an ugly manner.

“This is why I must stay here instead of finding a fetus to house my soul. I must see to it that Lawrence impregnates as many females as he can. I will not allow our family to be wiped from this plane! I will not allow it!”

Chandra watched as his anger spun out of control and she knew the time had come to bring an end to Rafael Hindel. “Rafael, I am going to tell you something that will release you from your obligation to Lawrence and allow you to go from this parish.”

“There is nothing you can say that can release me from my obligation to my grandson, Chandra. You are but a filthy sow my son rutted with to bring my grandson to this plane. The only reason I did not destroy you when Jonathan found you and kept you as his whore is I knew my son would impregnate you and bring forth another soul into the Hindel fold. The bloodline is all important. I will not allow it to die out.”

  “It already has, Rafael.”

“What are you talking about? Nothing has happened to Lawrence or I would have known it.” He cast her a smug smile and waited for her to enlighten him.

“The only way Lawrence can carry on the Hindel bloodline is if he is your grandson.”

“And since he is my grandson then our conversation here is a waste of time. Make your point, Chandra.”

“Rafael, Lawrence is not your grandson. The one, I refuse to use the term man, who fathered Lawrence is none other than our old friend and caretaker, Mr. Quigly.”

“You lying slut! I will destroy you for trying to make me believe my son is not Lawrence’s sire!” He took a menacing step in Chandra’s direction his hatred of her completely out of control now. “I will destroy you!”

At the same moment two white spirits stepped forth to bind Rafael in chains, a baby’s cry cut through the silence.

“Take him to the dark side and cast him in. He has brought too much evil to this plane.” As the white spirits with Rafael in tow disappeared, Chandra walked into the room to greet Jack’s son.

“You have a strong and healthy son, Mrs. Olivier’. Congratulations to you both,” the doctor said laying the mewling baby on Seelah’s stomach.

A slight tap sounded on the door as Donavan pushed his way inside.

“You’re just in time, partner, Donavan Matthew Olivier’ just popped into the world.” Jack said, uncaring of the tears of joy streaming down his face.

Without a word Donavan pulled Jack into his arms for a big congratulatory hug.

With Barbara and Jenny wrapped safely in his big arms, he watched as Jack and Seelah marveled at their new son.

Seelah felt a touch on her arm and looked up to see Chandra standing beside her. Uncaring of who might be listening she smiled up at the woman who had helped her so much. “Isn’t he beautiful, Chandra?”

“That he is, Seelah.” She ran a hand over the baby’s dark head. “And now with all the Hindels safely out of the way, he can lead a normal and safe life.”

“Thank you for all your help, Chandra,” Jack spoke into the quiet.

Chandra moved over beside Jack and with deliberate ease pulled his face forward to place a loving kiss on his cheek. “You are ever so welcome, my darling.”

As everyone gazed at the newborn son of Jack and Seelah Chandra turned and walked happily into the White Light waiting for her.
