Tom wasn’t exactly the love of my life, hell, we weren't even exclusive, but that didn’t mean he deserved to be shot.
I nodded. “Alright,” I said. “But he’s going to want to leave from this doorway, just so you know.”
Nathan nodded, looking around, and I could tell when his eyes sharpened on the open door of the half bathroom off the kitchen. “C’mon, babe,” he murmured to Finn. “Let’s get you in there.”
My feet felt almost frozen to the ground, but I moved out of their way, wincing at the pained, cut off grunt Finn gave when Nathan settled him on the closed lid of the toilet. He’d been pale when I opened the door; it looked like he was starting to shake.
Now, free from Finn’s weight, Nathan stalked back to me, gun still firmly in his hand, though it was pointed at the ground. “Remember,” he muttered, “this doesn’t have to be a problem unless you make it one, Cade. Get him out nice and clean, don’t dawdle. I’ll be listening.”
I clenched my jaw. “Fine,” I said. “But for god’s sake, don’t let him see you.”
“Aw, honey,” Nathan purred, “you have such faith in us.”
I glanced around the kitchen once, making certain there was no trace of them where Tom might see. There wasn’t.
I didn’t bother to answer him. I turned on my heel, making a beeline for the bedroom, and with every step I took, I ignored the way my stomach had begun to churn.
I had no business being excited to see them again.
