“Any objections?” Stoney asks, getting ‘No’ and ‘Nope’ from around the table. “Good then it’s settled. We handle this shit without them from now on. Now let’s get out of here for the time being. I need to check on a few things then I’m gonna grab my ol’ lady and take her to my room for the rest of the night. Kids are with Horse for the week since his kids wanted them over.”

Happy for my Prez, I grin, stand, and head for Harlow. Stoney’s got a good plan in spending the night with his ol’ lady. I’m gonna do the same with mine, making her scream my name all fuckin’ night long.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Harlow

It’s been a week since we got back from the beach. During this time, I spent it mainly around the clubhouse, not wanting to leave. Since the rescue, I haven’t had any desire to go anywhere let alone be away from Ranger.

After the incident in them where I broke down and let it all out, I would have thought myself weak in everyone’s eyes for allowing myself cry let alone have a full-blown melt down. But truth be told, it doesn’t as I admit to myself that not in any of the time, I’ve been at the clubhouse have I ever once seen an ounce of pity in any of the guys’ faces. Everyone has been nice to me without making me feel out of place.

Well, I should say everyone but the clubwhores. They seem to be more than a little put out to have me around.

I know this because Jezebel, who is the main one, spews words at every chance she gets. She even had the nerve to threaten me about Ranger. How he was hers and that I needed to get gone and out of their lives.

If only she knew what I could do to her. The woman had to be dumb as fuckin’ rocks to think she could go against me. I would kill her without hesitation, but I don’t want to have to do anything. I know I need to bring it to Ranger’s attention; however, he nor any of his brothers need the headache of Jezebel.

This morning I’d decided I didn’t want to go to the gym like I normally do. Instead I go into the kitchen wanting to do something I rarely did.

  Cook.

Victoria normally is in here doing what she’s superb at. Or one of the other ol’ ladies is in here, only it’s deserted of anyone.

  Good.

Moving around the room, I made sure we had everything we needed and get what I’m making going.

Grabbing a large thing of hamburger, I brown it making sure to add some garlic to this as I do. I also find a large enough pot to make the quantity I need. Once the hamburger is done, I drain the grease and put this in the pot with crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sauce. I then add the chicken stock turning the stove on low. Pulling out a cutting board, I dice up a couple green peppers and an onion adding those into the mix. I snag a jalapeño, mincing this too as well. Once all the veggies are in, I grab the beans to complete the chili. Well almost, I needed to add my secret ingredient to give it my signature. Pulling it out of the cabinet, I add it in and stir it all together.

Once the chili is going, I pull out everything I need to make homemade biscuits. Okay, I guess you could say Victoria wasn’t the only one who loved to cook.

I’m in the middle of scooping out the dough when I sense someone come in the room.

“What the fuck smells so good?” Neo asks as Ranger stares at me inquisitively. I’m sure he’s wondering why I’m in here. I haven’t done any of the cooking since arriving here.

“Um, chili,” I mumble and turn my attention back to putting the dough on a baking sheet for it to go in the oven.

“Smells fuckin’ good, babe,” Neo grins earning a glare from Ranger. “What?” he asks.

“Oh fuck me, what is that smell?” Venom asks, opening the door to the kitchen followed by Blaze and Tracker.

“It’s my woman’s chili,” Ranger grumbles. Lifting my head, I find him frowning.

“What’s wrong with you?” Blaze asks, slapping Ranger on the back.

“Nothing,” Ranger grumbles and moves to wrap his arms around me from behind. I shiver at the press of his lips against my neck. “Wasn’t expecting to find you in here,” he murmurs into my ear. “Smells good, baby, wish I didn’t have to share it with everyone else.”

  Oh my.

  He doesn’t want to share.

“I felt like doing something different today and I love cooking,” I whisper, turning my head to the side to look back at him.

“Next time you can do it in our place,” he informs me.

  Huh?

  Our place?

I mean yeah, I have a house but we’d been staying here.

“Got a house, baby. You’ve been there, remember?” he grins.

  Oh yeah.

He does have a nice place. It’s gorgeous and isolated. I like the idea of living in the middle of nowhere with no one around.

You can do so much without anyone around to complain.

“What about my place?” I ask.

“Do whatever you want with it, baby?” he shrugs. “It doesn’t matter to me. We’re staying at mine.”

“Hey, if you want, I’ll buy it from you,” Neo states having been listening to our conversation. “I would even rent it from you. It’s a kick-ass house and not too far away from the clubhouse.”

Blinking, I think about this for a moment while I let it sink in. I’m moving into Ranger’s, he didn’t ask but it’s a given. I’m not about to be too far from him. I don’t want to.

“Okay, if you want it, you can have it,” I say. “I mean it’s not like I’ve lived there in a while. I wasn’t even there before I’d been kidnapped by Ezra.” At the mention of Ezra, the room seemed to grow completely silent and I felt Ranger stiffen.

“Where were you living?” Ranger asks.

“A rundown apartment complex,” I say without hesitation. I don’t need to hide from him anymore.

“Anything you need to get from there?” This time it’s Stoney’s turn to ask me a question.

“Nope, everything of value is in a safe deposit box at the bank under Raven’s and Victoria’s names.”

“What?” Blaze demands, brows furrowed. “Do they know about this?”

“Ugh, no, they didn’t know about it. I put it in their names since what it holds would go to them anyway,” I shrug, placing the last of the dough on the cookie sheet. Stepping out of Ranger’s embrace, I lift the sheet, and move to the oven near where Neo was standing. Without thought, Neo even opens it for me. Sliding the biscuits into the oven, I check the time and set the timer before facing the room once again.

“What’s in the box?” Stoney gets to the question first.

“Several things really. Money mainly, there’s the deed to my house, my car, the cabin, as well as the house in Sandbridge,” I state, going over everything in my head that I had.

“Wait, you have a cabin and another house?” Nerd asks, shocked at this knowledge. “How come I’m not pulling anything up on those. I’ve run searches and didn’t find any of that. I even searched under Raven’s and Victoria’s names. I knew there was a safe deposit box. Figured it was theirs and didn’t bother asking about it. Wasn’t my business, since I thought their men would have known about it.”

“The cabin was transferred to Matthew’s name once he was born and the house is in Jamie’s name. No one’s going to look for infants owning property. I needed places to go and needed to be a ghost. The properties are still theirs regardless if I’m out of the game or not.”

“Hold on a minute,” Blaze mutters, stiffening. “You put a house in my son’s name?”

“Yes, because I knew if something happened to me, Raven would find out and this would give her and Victoria a chance to find a safe haven if need be. Especially for both of their kids. I’m not a complete emotionless bitch. I never was. I made sure to protect everyone by staying away as much as I could.” My eyes begin to burn with the need to cry.

“Baby, you’re good. No one’s mad at you. Blaze is just being defensive right now because of what happened to Raven and Mark,” Ranger mutters, reaching out to pull me into hi
s chest.

“Agreed, it’s a good idea and appreciated. Now let’s hope we never have to use any of them besides for weekend getaways,” Blaze grumbles. “In fact, I need a key. Think me and Raven could use a weekend away. Long as one of the ol’ ladies will take the boys.”

“I’ll take them,” I murmur, speaking up without haste. I haven’t spent enough time with Matthew or Mark, and I want that chance. Besides, I know I could use the practice. I’m not pregnant but with as much as Ranger and I have been going at it, it’s going to happen sooner or later. Especially, since I’m not on any birth control and he’s not using condoms.

Glancing up to Ranger, I give him a smile and his eyes dilate. I know what that means. “Is it okay with you if they stay with us?” I ask him.

“Anything for you, baby,” he remarks.

With the way he says this, I know he means anything. God, I love this man. He’s my everything.

Nodding, I check the chili to find it is ready and begin scooping out bowls for everyone. When the biscuits are done, I pull them out and let the guys have at it. As they’re standing around eating, the door opens, and Rachel steps in looking freaked.

“What’s going on, doll?” Stoney asks the second he sees her as he puts his bowl down.

“I just received this,” she murmurs, holding her phone up with shaking hands.

“Fuck,” Stoney snarls, and throws the phone across the room and pulls his ol’ lady into his arms.

“What is it, Prez?” Ranger asks from next to me.

Everyone in the room goes on alert.

“Seems we’re not done with Spark and he’s making it known. Sent an image of my Corinne playing with Kayla and Mercy. Said they’re up next,” Stoney snarls.

“Who is this Spark guy?” I ask quietly.

“Bad guy, baby, he and his group kidnapped Cara and raped her,” Ranger tells me not missing a beat.

At the mere mention of it all a different form of vengeance begins to seep into me. “Let me loose,” I say meeting Ranger’s gaze.

“No fuckin’ way,” he growls through clenched teeth.

“I don’t mean by going alone, let me help. I can find this Spark. We can’t let him get those girls. They’re babies. I take this on and I’ll do it with you all having my back protecting me as I bring him to you,” I state and I can see the light in his eyes as he takes in my words. I won’t ghost him.

“You do this it’s the last time and you don’t turn into the Harpy, you leave that to us,” Ranger orders.

“I can do that,” I nod.

“Alright then, do what you do best,” he says giving me a look.

Nodding, I reach up and give him a kiss before pulling my phone out. Hitting the second key, I put it to my ear and glance around the room.

“We’re not doing this again,” Trevor snaps instantly through the line.

“Last time I swear it and I’m not going alone,” I inform him, my gaze meeting Stoney’s to find him nodding at me. “Need you to find information for me. Have it ready before I get to the Devil’s Riot MC clubhouse in Franklin. Guy named Spark.”

“What the fuck do you need to go there for? You said you were done.” Trevor snarls pissed about me doing this.

“Only doing it because there are three little girls who I won’t see harmed,” I inform him, and he disconnects without saying another word. I knew what it meant. Pulling the phone from my ear, I put it in my back pocket. “Give me two hours of a head start and then follow. Once you get to the Franklin charter, I should have him ready for you to pick-up.”

Eyes narrowed, Stoney nods. He knows my reputation and knows I don’t lie when I say I’ll have this Spark ready for pick-up.

“Be careful, Harlow,” Ranger murmurs before taking my mouth in a soul searing kiss. Lifting his mouth from mine, I smile at him.

“Always, Ryan. I know I’ll have you watching out for me.”

“Fuckin’ right you do. Now let’s get this shit done. I’m thinking we need another weekend away after this shit.” I can’t help but smile at Ranger’s remark.

Yeah, we definitely will. Maybe I’ll take him to the house in Sandbridge. It is on the oceanside and like last weekend we could enjoy the sounds of the ocean as he slides into me.

Without looking at anyone else, I give his hand a squeeze and walk away, not looking back. I never look back and never will. My mind turns to the mission at hand.

Keep Corinne, Kayla, and Mercy out of this fucker’s hands.

  Chapter Seventeen

  Harlow

I’m flying down the highway, coming up on Capron when my phone rings. I don’t bother looking to see who it is as I answer the phone. “Turn off to this fucker is coming up on your left, you’ll go about a half mile down, turn right then go another three miles down. This road is a dead end but there’s a white house, you’ll see it. Don’t know why the fuck this asshole picked it but you should know it’s the same one who fucked with one of the Franklin charter’s women, Ally.”

  Shit. Shit. Shit.

I know exactly which house he’s talking about.

  Motherfucker.

“Okay, send coordinates to Ranger, and the rest of them. Might as well send them to Twister and Horse as well. It’s their daughters at risk too.”

“On it. Don’t get yourself killed, I won’t be happy if you do,” Trevor declares before hanging up.

Shaking my head, I turn left where I needed to and follow the rest of the directions Trevor sent me. This shit is too easy sometimes. Then again, those are the times that shit can go sideways right along with the rest of the worst of it because you don’t anticipate anything fucking up.

My phone rings again as I make the final turn. “I don’t have time,” I mutter as I answer the phone.

“Baby, make time,” Ranger growls and I slow down marginally.

  “What’s up?” I ask.

“Want you to pull off to the side of the road and wait for us. We’re about ten minutes behind you and just so you know, we’ll be having a discussion about the way you drive,” he snaps. Narrowing my gaze, I briefly look at the phone but find he’s hung up on me.

He didn’t do like he was supposed to do.

  Damnit.

I don’t know if I should be happy or ticked at him for not listening.

Pulling over to the side of the road, I open my door, pop open my fuse box, and pull out the fuse to the ignition. Once done, I put the fuse in my pocket, so I didn’t lose it, and get out of the car. Moving to the front of the car, I propped the hood up to make it look like I’d broken down. Then I proceed to move off into the woods.

I know Ranger wants me to wait for him, but I can’t.

Trevor had called me ten minutes after I left the clubhouse and reported to me just how fucked up this fucker was. He wasn’t just anyone and it’s no wonder he would go to the house he picked. It was his father’s after all.

I don’t know what’s up with this guy but he was supposedly friends with Nerd growing up. How that happened, I have no clue. Trevor found the mom was raped, became pregnant as a result of this. I’m gathering from the information I can only imagine he’s just like his father besides the sadistic cult part of it.

Shaking my head, I trek the rest of the way to the house, staying just inside the tree line out of sight. Pulling out a pair of goggles I’d had a ‘friend’ design for me, I lift them up and look through them at the house. Thanks to these, I’m about to see infrared forms within. It looked to be about three men standing around. One of them waving their hands around over their head.

“Well okay, mister waving your arms around like an ape in the zoo,” I mutter as I continue to stare through the goggles deciding where to go from here.

“What the hell did I tell you?” Ranger murmurs from directly behind me.

“Shh,” I wave a hand behind me without taking my eyes off the target. “There’s three of them in there. I need to go to the other side and check, confirm those three are all that’s
in there.”

“Fuck, is it bad that Ranger’s ol’ lady is turning me on right now with this shit.” I don’t bother paying attention to who made the comment.

“Fucker, shut the hell up.” I knew this was Ranger since it was his voice and I’d know his anywhere.

“Just saying, brother, you’re a lucky bastard.” This time I lower the goggles and glance over my shoulder to find it wasn’t one of the members from Ranger’s charter but the Franklin one. His cut told me his name was Wolf.

“Pipe down and focus,” I snap, turning my attention back to the matter at hand.

“Twister has Rage and Thorn on the other side,” Stoney states.

“They have infrared goggles to see inside that side of the house?” I ask.

“Don’t know but I’ll tell you now this fuckin’ house is getting burned to the fuckin’ ground when we’re done here. Should have done it after the shit went down with Ally.” I’m guessing this was from Burner.

“I’ve got some stuff in the trunk of my car if you want to use it,” I mutter.

“Fuckin’ hell, Ranger you’re a lucky fucker,” Venom states. I knew it was him from the gruffness in his voice.

“Damn right I am,” Ranger growls, placing a hand on the back of my neck. “By the way, baby, that was a nice way of letting us know where you were.”

“It was meant for a decoy,” I shrug. “Couldn’t very well be on the side of the road for no reason.”

“Well, let us take it from here,” he states, giving my neck a squeeze. Lowering the goggles, I look at to him. “Letting you loose, now it’s time we handle it from here, told you I was keeping you with me. This is me doing just that.”

Holding his gaze, I read what his eyes are telling me. This is him taking hold of the fury for me.

Nodding, I step into his arms. “Okay, but you should know Spark is related to the man who held Burner’s ol’ lady in that house. It’s why he picked this place.”

“What?” Burner demands. “Did you just say this fucker is related to the dick who held my woman captive for most of her life?”
