“Minos is the Cretan word for King. The most well-known use of the title was for the barbaric ruler associated with the legend of the Minotaur and his maze,” Kate replied trying to think back to her earlier research on the name.
“Well, I can tell this King Minos apparently is not tired of us running through his labyrinth just yet,” Joe remarked looking out at the hazed city skyline in the distance.
“Hopefully this joker and his ancient predecessor have a couple of traits in common then,” Kate added behind him.
“Like what?” Joe asked turning back to her.
“Legend has it that the great King Minos in the story was terribly afraid of GHOSTS…” Kate coolly replied.

EPILOGUE
Rosán landed painfully, face first into the floor of the darkened room. Grabbing at the sack covering his head, he quickly removed it to find himself still enveloped in near darkness. Scrambling off the cold floor, he swung around at his onetime savior who had just rough deposited him on the damp floor.
“What is the meaning of this?” the doctor demanded, the man now only visible as a shadowed outline by light emanating from the adjacent room. “I demand to see Minos at once you insufferable…”
“You can demand until pigs fly Doc, but if I were you I would keep my yap shut if you know what’s good for you. Trust me, the boss is the last person you want to come across right now if you know what I mean,” the shadowed figure barked before closing a barred door in between them, locking Rosán in.
As the man walked away he slowly closed the door to the adjacent room casting the room in complete darkness around Rosán. Feeling around in the dark it did not take the doctor long to understand that he was enclosed in a barred cell. Furiously he pounded his fist on the steel bars, understanding now that he had been tricked. He had willingly been sprung from police custody only to have that cage replaced with another here in the dark.
“Outrageous…” the imprisoned doctor muttered to himself as he continued to feel around the room trying to make out his small surroundings.
An almost deliberate cough from his left nearly made the doctor jump out of his skin; he was not alone in this dark cage.
“Who…who’s there?” the doctor stuttered into the blackness.
“Well old boy, it seems the piper finally came for his pound of flesh,” a scratchy voice echoed out from the darkness. “You really didn’t think they were doing anything more than just using you from start did you?”
As the recondition of the scratchy voice’s owner dawned on Rosán’s ears, he scrambled away from the direction of the voice as if physically punched. Not believing his ears Rosán starred into the darkness calling out to the voice.
“Harold… Harold is that you?”
Slowly closing the seamless door etched from the marble wall, Rosán’s jailer walked across the lavish office to the centered desk illuminated as always by the lone antique bronze lamp.
“Rosán is safely stowed away boss,” the henchman reported facing the shadowed figure at the desk.
“Good…” Minos coolly replied.
“Boss what about Mr. Vega? There was no way I could spring him without trouble.”
“Mr. Vega will stay where he is for the time being. I have no doubts in his abilities to keep his mouth shut. I wish the same could have been said for the dear doctor downstairs,” Minos replied.
“Boss, I just don’t get it. Why not just let me kill the doc back at the precinct? It would’ve been a lot easier if I…”
Slamming his fist into the polished desktop Minos barked at the man, cutting him off:
“I was not aware that I was required to explain my orders to you at every turn! That pompous windbag will serve his purpose as I see fit and that is all you are required to know!”
“Yeah boss, sure, I didn’t mean anything by it…” the henchman replied lowering his gaze from the suddenly furious Minos.
Minos had hit the desk with such force the desktop name plate that had been sitting near the front edge clanged on the marble floor in front of the cowed henchman. Bending down, the man replaced the nameplate to the desk before hastily retreating from the room.
Reaching across the desk, Minos picked up the name plate and examined it under the dim light from the bronze lamp. Dismissively wiping an errant finger print from the golden finish, Minos placed the decoration on the front of the desk before looking over to a neighboring table where journals, packing materials and a small wax covered box sat. As he did the polished front of the name plate was briefly illuminated by the desk lamp allowing the name on it to be read for a split second before it was again cast in the shadows.
