“It was a slip… sorry” I murmur, biting my bottom lip.

“Don’t say sorry. We may not be official yet but you’re the only girl in my life, and you’ll stay the only girl in my life. I am not dating anyone else” he says, kissing my shoulder and trailing his lips up to my neck. “I’m pretty into you…” he murmurs.

Shutting my eyes I relish the feel of his mouth on my neck, his lips doing wonders for my body.

I close the book and gather my stuff, shoving it into my backpack. I toss it on the floor next to my shoes.

Turning, I crawl up to him and onto his lap. I trace the darkened skin of his jaw and under his eye.

“Want to tell me why you got into a fight?” I ask, leaning forward and pressing my lips to his skin.

His head rolls to the side, silently begging for more so I oblige and softly place kisses along the side of his neck while he speaks.

“One of the other football players asked if they could hook up with you since you and Wes broke up…” he trails off.

“How did that make you and Wes get into it? If anything it would seem like you would have gotten into a fight with the player asking to hook up…” I state, taking his skin between my teeth and tugging causing him to hiss out a moan.

“Wes told the kid he was a douche, so I said he wasn’t the only one… apparently he was already pissed off because he jumped on me. No big deal” he replies, leaning up and taking my mouth with his.

“Less Weston, more kissing” he murmurs against my lips.

“I wholeheartedly agree” I say, pressing my tongue to the seam of his mouth silently begging him to open for me. He does and I feel that he, thankfully, has put his tongue ring back in.

Our tongues twine together, desperately trying to feel each other. His hands grip my ass as he pushes against me, his cock already hard against the front of his academy khakis.

Grabbing handfuls of plaid fabric, Barron slides my skirt to my hips letting me feel the cool air against my skin. His hands slip under the sides of my panties, grabbing and massaging my ass.

Reaching between us, I undo the buckle of his belt and pop the button of his slacks. I lean my hips back slightly as I slide the zipper down and pull his cock out.

Wrapping my fingers around it I slowly stroke him, the soft skin warm under my palm. One of Barron’s hands snake around my waist under my skirt, reaching down and moving my panties to the side. He slides his fingers between my folds, dipping inside me before pulling out and circling my clit with his moistened fingers.

“So wet…” he murmurs, sucking my bottom lip. I work his cock faster in my hand, up and down, and soon his rhythm on my pussy is the same. He stops his ministrations of my clit and slides two fingers inside of me “and so fucking tight” he groans.

His fingers curl slightly and rub against the spot inside me that always brings me to orgasm when I am playing with myself.

His hand gripping my ass slowly starts to guide my hips, rocking them back and forth and silently telling me he wants me to fuck his fingers. I oblige and circle my hips, riding his hand as if it were his cock seated deep inside me.

I use my free hand to touch him, running it down his chest to one of his nipples and toying it through the fabric of his shirt. He hisses out a breath as his hips start to thrust into my hand, hard. I pick up my pace on his hand as he continues to fuck mine, each of us using each other to bring us closer to release.

“Baby, I’m going to come soon” I say, frantically working myself to orgasm. His thumb brushes my clit, circling it.

His breathing increases, his hip thrusts turn frenzied right before he spurts the first of his release. Watching his cock explode sends me over the edge and my pussy tightens seconds before I go, my back arching and stars dancing behind my eyes.

Barron’s hips twitch a few more times as the ends of his orgasm dissipate. He brings his lips to mine, kissing me softly.

“You have no idea how beautiful you look when you come for me” he whispers, his fingers still buried deep inside of me. He wiggles them, smirking when my hips jerk in response.

“You got come on my skirt” I whisper, looking down.

He reluctantly slides his fingers out of me, giving me the sexiest look as he sucks them clean.

  Have mercy…

Sliding me off of him, he walks to his dresser, and grabs a pair of sweat pants. He quickly changes into them and out of his academy uniform, walking out of his room bare-chested “Be right back” he says.

  That was weird.

A few minutes later he returns with a pair of women’s running shorts, and pulls a tee out of his drawer. He tosses them both at me “I stole a pair of Breanne’s shorts. Put those on and I will throw your clothes in the washer. They should be done by the time I take you home.”

I strip out of my uniform and hand it over, pulling on the shorts and shirt he gave me. The shorts fit, but I am swimming in his shirt.

He looks up and a small smirk plays on his lips “You look good in my clothes…” he says before walking out.

  Damn, that boy.

“I’m gonna need some prayers or juju or whatever it is you believe in” I say as Barron pulls up out front of my house. I let him drive me all the way up the driveway and to the front door tonight. I figure if my parents saw who cares, I am telling them tonight.

He grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze “Offer still stands for me to come in with you” he tells me.

I know that he just wants to help but when my mother finds out Weston and I split it’s going to be bad. I don’t want him to see that, I don’t want to see what she is going to do to me.

“It’s ok, I do appreciate your offer but you know that I need to do this on my own. I will call you once I am done” I say, grabbing my bags and opening the door. I lean back and give Barron a soft kiss.

He presses another to my forehead “Good luck princess, call me.”

I get out and shut the door. I take a deep breath and head towards the front steps, pausing when the front door opens and my mother is standing there with a furious look on her face.

“Where have you been?” She hisses.

“Out with a friend” I say, walking up the steps. “I have something to talk to you about.”

“Not now, the Montgomery’s are here” she says. It's only then that I notice she is wearing a black Chanel wrap dress. Her hair is perfectly curled and hanging down her back, her makeup is flawless.

  Shit.

“Go upstairs and change, dinner will be served in 10 minutes” she barks.

“I have homework” I try the one excuse I have to be able to get out of this.

“You can do it later, GO” she hisses, pointing up the stairs. I drag myself up the stairs, shutting the door behind me.

I strip out of my clean uniform and grab a blue off the shoulder fit and flare dress, shoving my feet in a pair of nude heels. I pull my hair down and put it back up in a loose bun.

After I finish making myself ‘presentable’ I perch on the edge of my bed and pick up my phone to call Barron. He answers after two rings.

“I don’t know if it's a good sign or a bad sign you’re calling me so soon” he chuckles.

“Bad. I didn’t tell them, apparently Weston and his parents are here for dinner. She shoved me upstairs to change as soon as I crossed the threshold.”

He growls, actually growls, into the phone. “You’re going to tell them right?”

“Absolutely.” I say, more determined than ever to enjoy my happiness for once. I have spent three years being miserable because of what they wanted. Now, it was my turn to be happy. I wanted the knight who gave me butterflies, not the knight who storms the castle to kill the king and all his subjects.

I want my happily ever after.

“Okay. Call me later, and try and not poison them all” he laughs, amusing himself.

“I’ll try my hardest” I reply, sarcasm lacing my words.

  My door swings
open and Weston stands there, a bored expression on his face.

“What the hell? Do you not know how to knock?” I hiss. He shrugs his shoulders like he couldn’t be bothered.

“Who?” Barron asks from the other end of the line.

  “Weston” I reply.

Again, he growls. “I’ll call you later okay?” I ask.

“Okay. I’ll talk to you soon” he says, his tone softening towards me.

I hang up my phone and walk to the mirror to take one more look and make sure I am worthy of gracing my mothers presence. I grab a pearl necklace from the jewelry stand that sits behind my door.

“Who was that?” He asks, walking towards me and reaching to help me secure the clasp on my necklace.

“None of your business” I answer, pushing his hands away and adjusting the necklace to sit correctly on my neck.

He narrows his eyes at me but I cut him off before he can speak. “Let’s get this over with” I say, walking out of the door and down the hallway.

He follows behind me, trying to take ahold on my hand as we walk down the stairs together.

“Do not touch me, not even once tonight” I say with a bit of bite in my voice.

“You haven’t told your parents yet, we need to play it up” he says, trying again to take my hand.

“I planned on telling them tonight until you crashed my evening” I say.

“I didn’t even know about this dinner until my mom told me after school” he replies. At the mention of school I look up at him, really taking him in. He has a bruise forming under his eye and his lip has a scab on it.

I don’t say anything about it as we emerge into the formal living room, where my parents and the Montgomerys are drinking and talking.

“Here’s the happy couple” my mother exclaims as she notices us walk in. I can feel the eyes on us both as we join the others, a glass of wine is offered to me which I accept and drink it quickly. I will need all the liquid encouragement I can get tonight. I take another when Magdalena brings another tray in, swapping my empty glass for a full one.

“Slow down” my mother hisses in my ear “I don’t want them to think I am raising some abnormal teenage alcoholic.”

“Normal parents wouldn’t allow their teenagers to drink, so my abnormality lies solely with you” I say through gritted teeth.

She huffs at me, taking the wine glass from my hand and depositing it on the end table by the formal couch.

Weston hasn’t said a word since we came into the living room, he simply stands next to me sipping the scotch he was given.

“Are you seeing someone else?” He leans down, whispering as to not be heard.

I’m taken aback, I have no idea what answer to give him that wouldn’t cause a scene so I try for the easiest “Can we discuss this later?”

“No. I need to know” he says, his tone off.

  “Yes, I am” I answer.

He doesn’t say anything for the longest time, so long in fact I thought maybe he wasn’t going to say anything about it at all.

“Were you cheating on me?” He asks, and I can tell he is gritting his teeth.

I turn my back to our parents so they don’t see look that I know is on my face. “How dare you ask me that, Weston. For three fucking years I played the dutiful girlfriend while you treated me like shit. I know for a fact you’ve cheated on me multiple times, and I let you make a fool of me. No, I wasn’t cheating on you but I happened to quickly find someone who treats me like I'm irreplaceable, someone who actually enjoys being with me” I whisper yell, luckily my parents have some Mozart concerto playing in the background so it drowns out most of my tirade.

I can see his anger brewing beneath the surface, the hatred in his eyes. He doesn’t respond. He just stares ahead, turning to leave when Magdalena announces that dinner will be served.

I follow behind our parents, taking my normal seat at the table next to my mother. Weston sits across from me, his face still showing signs of anger.

Before the meal is even served, Weston excuses himself to use the restroom.

After they have brought the plates in, I sit and listen to my father and Darren talk about some business deal that my dad had been working on. I wasn’t listening to details, just using it as a distraction.

I happily take another glass of wine, with a disapproving scowl from my mother.

Trust me, Linda. We are all better off if I keep drinking.

  Chapter 23

  Barron

I am still seething even as I punch the bag in front of me, my knuckles throb from the brutal hits I have been doling out for the last hour. I was hoping going a few rounds with the bag in the gym would help my anger dissipate but it isn’t. It almost feels like it’s ramped it up.

The gym door opens and I stop, turning to look at my father as he walks in. He is still dressed in his suit from work, his dark hair slicked back.

“Son” he greets me, taking a seat on the bench by the wall. I remove my boxing gloves and toss them on the table, grabbing my water bottle and swigging it down.

I sit on the floor in front of him, sweat pouring off of my entire body.

“I want to talk to you about this girl you’ve been seeing, Skylar Santora?” He starts, looking completely at ease as he speaks. At least one of us is. Him mentioning Skylar has my radar screaming alarms left and right.

“What about her?” I ask, trying to play it cool and hoping he can’t see the panic I am feeling.

“Have you met her parents yet?” He asks, being cryptic.

“No, they don’t know we are dating” I reply “Why?”

“Interesting” is all he says as he leans back against the wall, his one long leg crossed over the other.

“Why is that interesting?” I ask again.

“I have a history with the Santora’s and I have a feeling they’re not going to take too kindly to their daughter dating my son” he muses, confusing the shit out of me.

“Are they in the same line of work you are?” I ask, thoroughly perplexed at how my dad and the Santora’s would know each other.

“No, no. Definitely not, I just want you to let me know if they give you any trouble okay?” He says.

“What sort of trouble?” I hate being left in the dark, feeling like I am not being told something and right now that’s exactly what my dad is doing.

“We can discuss it at a later time, now isn’t the right one. Just trust me, but also let me know if they have any issues with you or with you and Skylar” with that he stands, buttoning his suit jacket and heading out the door like he didn’t just drop a mysterious bomb on me.

  I grab my phone and send Sky a text;

Barron: Just letting you know I am thinking about you, and missing you. x

I get up and climb the stairs to my room to shower and wait for Skylar’s call.

  Chapter 24

  Skylar

Weston returned from the restroom about 30 minutes ago, his face so red I thought he was going to have a full on stroke.

He didn’t say a word, only answering questions when he was asked and giving, at the most, bare minimum answers.

When our parents said they were going back to the living room for after dinner cocktails, I made a break for it. I dart up the stairs to my room, in search of my phone I had left there so I can text Barron. When I get there I see that my phone is sitting on the floor, shattered into pieces like a Mack truck had run it over.

  What the fuck?

“Guess you can’t call your little boyfriend now…” Wes’ voice cuts over my shoulder and I turn, advancing on him quickly.

“Why the hell would you break my phone?!” I ask, pointing at the pitiful electronic that’s sitting beyond repair on the floor.

“Why would you start dating the one guy in the school I hate” he seethes, pushing me back with his steps. He doesn’t touch me but the fear stemming from the scary look in his eyes has me inching backwards with every step he takes forward.

You can’t help who you like, Wes” I say quietly, biting my bottom lip.

“But why him? Of all the guys in the school who want you… why him?”

“He’s good to me Weston, he actually cares about me” I say.

He laughs but its humorless “How much do you think he will care when you won’t spread your legs? Do you think he will stick around for years waiting for you like I did?”

I bite my tongue, holding in the vile hateful words that are threatening to spill. The secret I hold would bruise his ego so much, and while it would feel nice to knock him down a few pegs right now I just can’t do it. Instead I brush past him, making my way down the stairs, intending to go outside by the pool so I can calm myself. My mother’s voice halts me, calling me into the living room.

I begrudgingly turn around and head to the living room with Weston not far behind me.

“Have a seat” my mother says, holding a cocktail in her hand. Mrs. Montgomery is perched on the couch next to her, our fathers taken to the old wingbacks that I am pretty sure were made in the 1800’s.

Wes and I both sit on the couch, a ruler’s length of space between us. I can still feel his anger rolling off him in waves.

“We want to discuss your wedding” Mrs. Montgomery starts and I shoot up off the couch.

“Our what?” I shriek, looking between our mothers like they’ve lost their damn minds.

“Sit down, Skylar” my mother’s voice is as close to demanding as she would allow in front of company. I slowly lower myself to the couch, taking a chance and glancing over at Weston whose shock is as evident as mine, his anger from before gone from his face.

“As I was saying, we know you two will be getting engaged soon and we will need ample time to prepare an elite society wedding. This is not something we can do on short notice” Ms. Montgomery says, looking to my mother for affirmation.

“You turn eighteen in a few months, Skylar. Weston will also be eighteen in a few months. After graduation there is no reason for you two not to get married” my mother says.

Nope, no reason at all; except I don’t love him, hell I don’t even like him. I want to go to college. I want my brother back and he won’t come back to this god forsaken hell hole. I want to be with my knight and be happy. Nah, no reasons…
