Jebediah's Crime: A Heroic Supernatural Thriller (The Hinge Series Book 1)
Page 22
When night fell, a green glow cast itself over his camp. Jebediah stood and walked to a nearby tree. He knelt down and looked with haunted eyes at the row of glowing toy army men keeping watch over his camp. He didn't move for a long time.
Finally, the campfire behind him sputtered, then died.
Flint stood again on top of his building, staring up into the sky while also seeing Jebediah. A hooded witch from the Sisters of Smoke floated up behind him.
Witch and angel both looked up, and were addressed by the voices of Chaos and Order in the night sky.
You have both done well. The tools are ready. We are almost prepared for what is to come.
Flint glared towards the stars. With a cry of anger, light rocketed from his being, lashing and striking out against the night sky. The witch next to him cringed at the display of such raw power. But the explosion was for naught; it had no effect on the great faces in the sky.
Spent of all his energy, Flint was left to only yell his impotent anger upwards.
"God damn you!" he screamed in anguish.

Enjoy this book? You can make a huge difference
Reviews are the most powerful tools in my arsenal when it comes to getting attention for my books.
I'm just an indie author chasing a crazy dream.
Much as I'd like to, I don't have the financial muscle of a New York publisher. I can't take out full-page ads in newspapers or put posters on the subway.
But I do have something much more powerful and effective than that, and it's something those publishers would kill to get their hands on.
A committed and loyal bunch of readers.
Honest reviews of my books help bring them to the attention of other readers.
If you've enjoyed this book I would be grateful if you could just spend five minutes leaving a review (it can be as short as you like) on the book's Amazon page. You can jump right to the page by clicking below.

Thanks so much, my reader-friend!
Acknowledgments
First and foremost and always, thanks and love to Mariana. She makes it so I can run off and play pretend.
To my editors, Joseph Nassise, Mason Sabre, and Crystal Chiang, you're the best.
Tom and Crystal, deep appreciation for the constant encouragement and ability to keep up with my dude-ness.
"Wild-ass dreams are the best kind!" I'm stealing that line from the best coach and mentor a writer could ask for, Joseph Nassise. Thanks for being okay with stupid questions, and double-thanks for helping me chase my wild-ass dream.
Finally, thanks to you, my reader-friend. Trying a new author is a lot like going on a blind date. Appreciate you not leaving me at the table.
Sooooo you gonna eat the rest of that pie?
