“Oh, no need. Let me take care of that for you. Mr. Anderson has an arrangement with a private company.”

Now Chloe’s face was as red as a tomato. She wasn’t sure if it was from embarrassment or anger. Although why she would be angry at a certain Mr. Anderson for regularly indulging in this kind of playtime, she had no idea.

“Please, no, I’ll just call a cab myself.” But the dense man was already speaking to someone on the phone.

“There. They’ll be here in five minutes. Lovely day, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is indeed,” she agreed as she gazed out toward the ocean. Chloe hadn’t adapted very well to being alone in San Francisco after Diana and Shona got hitched and moved to Tucson.

The three of them had been friends for as long as she could remember and used to do everything together. She missed the closeness she had with them. The special girlie times—just to chat and be silly. Especially when one of them had a date.

Fuck! I won’t even have anyone to share this with.

Chloe sighed. It was no use denying it. She was lonely. Her other friends weren’t Diana and Shona. It just wasn’t the same and she could never share with them what she did with those two. They were like each other’s yin and yang. And without them, Chloe had been floundering around like an autumn leaf in the wind.

The ride home took quite a while. The penthouse was in San Mateo and her house was in Westlake. She frowned. She wouldn’t have gone all the way out there to a bar, so how did she end up in his apartment?

Halfmoon Bay! Yes, I went with Amy and Sheila to the Halfmoon Bay resort party.

Chloe groaned as part of the evening came crawling back into her memory. She’d definitely had too much to drink but she had nothing to eat which was why it hit her so hard.

She was drinking away her loneliness and Amy and Sheila had done nothing to stop her. She still couldn’t remember the hunk, Mr. Anderson and prayed that she hadn’t made a complete ass of herself with the man.

“Ah well, it matters not. I’m definitely not going to contact him to apologize and I’ll never see him again,” she mumbled as the luxury SUV stopped in front of her house.

“How much do I owe you?” Chloe was relieved to see that she at least still had some cash on her.

“Oh no, miss. Mr. Anderson has a standing arrangement with us.”

“I insist,” she all but snarled at the man. There was no way she wanted to be beholden to this Mr. Anderson.

“And I will lose my job if I accept payment from you. Surely you don’t want that on your conscience?”

Chloe glared at him, testing his tolerance, but he didn’t budge. “I guess that’s it then. Thank you.”

She slammed the door and returned his jaunty wave. The phone was ringing when she stepped into the house.

  “Yes? This is Chloe.”

“Hey, girl! How are you?” It was Diana.

“Hi, Chloe,” Shona echoed Diana’s greeting.

“How did you know I needed to talk?” She asked, trying to keep the tears at bay.

“We miss you, dumb ass! And besides, something told me we needed to phone you. What’s up, honey?” Diana asked gently.

“Why are the two of you up so early? It’s barely nine in the morning.”

“I told you, I knew you needed us. Come on, stop trying to dodge us. What did you do?” Diana pressed.

“Why do you automatically think I did something?”

“Because we know you, Chloe. You’ve been acting a little weird the last few times we spoke, so you’ve got us worried. Come on, give!” Shona demanded.

“Well, quite frankly, I don’t exactly know what happened.”

There was a brief silence and Chloe cringed. She put the phone on speaker and began making a pot of coffee.

“What do you mean you . . . no! Chloe Walker, don’t tell me you got sloshed so badly that you can’t remember what you did?” Shona shrieked.

“Well, it was kinda something like that.”

“Geez, girl, are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?” Diana was always the motherly one of the three.

“No, just a bruised ego, for being such an idiot.”

“So, we’re waiting with bated breath.” Shona pressed again.

  “I . . . ehm . . . woke up in San Mateo in stgmnbd,” she mumbled.

“Is it too early for booze? It sounds like a wine kind of chat. Or did you understand what stgmnbd meant, Diana?” Shona said drily.

“No, I don’t speak fluent gibberish. Wait! Strange man’s bed! That’s it. You went home with a stranger. Ooh, now we’re getting to the juicy part. Was he hot? Did he fuck you good? Can you walk this morning?” Diana teased.

“That’s just it! I have no fucking clue how I got there. I can’t remember anything apart from going to a party with Amy and Sheila and drinking too much wine.”

“Now that’s not good, Chloe! That’s just plain irresponsible. You could’ve been . . . did he drug you? Is that it?” Shona’s voice was wrought with worry.

“No. I’m sure he didn’t. I told you, I just drank too much and I didn’t have any dinner, so—”

“That’s it. You’re coming here. Tell her, Shona,” Diana said.

“Yes. It’s about time you come for a visit.”

“I can’t now, Shona. The launch of our new range is around the corner and I’m behind with my designs.”

“Pish-posh. You can design anywhere. Do come, Chloe. We miss you,” Shona intoned in a soft, teary voice.

She took a sip of her coffee and stared at the flashing light for a couple of minutes before she registered there was another call.

“Hold on, I’ve got another call.” She put them on hold and picked up the receiver. “This is Chloe,” her voice came out in a husky croak.

“Do you usually run-off without saying goodbye, Ms. Walker?”

Chloe’s legs gave in at the sound of the deep, guttural voice in her ear and she crumbled to the floor to lean against the counter.

“W-who is this?” She managed to whisper.

“Come now, love. Don’t tell me our night was that forgettable?”

“Look, I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she tried eluding him once more. Where the fuck did he get my number from? She asked him. The chuckle that followed her question caused her pussy to tingle and clench.

“It seems you were a little more sloshed than I thought. You gave me your business card, Chloe and very succinctly told me not to lose it.”

  “Who are you?”

  “Rex Anderson.”

Chloe closed her eyes. She’d suspected it was him but hearing him say it, made it more real.

“We have to talk. I’m coming over.”

“Wait! Do not tell me I told you where I lived?”

“No, you didn’t, but I have numerous resources at my disposal to find out anything I want to know about you. I’ll see you in two hours.”

“No! I’m not . . . fucking asshole!” She muttered when he abruptly ended the call. She pressed the unhold button.

“Okay, I’m coming to Tucson. I’ll get on the first plane I can find a seat on.”

“Fantastic! Oh wait, Brad’s cousin is flying back from Frisco today . . . are you sure honey? Ok, love you too . . . are you still there, girlie?”

“Yeah and becoming diabetic with all the honey talk.”

“Did you hear what Brad said?”

“Yeah, about his cousin flying to Tucson?”

“See, it’s perfect. I’ll text you the details, you just throw stuff in a bag and get to the airport. Brad says he usually leaves around eleven or twelve.”

“Is Brad sure his cousin won’t mind? I don’t wish to inconvenience anyone.”

“You won’t, so stop worrying about it. Now, before you go pack, give us the dimensions? Tell me you at least noticed the size of his dick?” Shona piped up.

They laughed and chatted for a little longer while Chloe ran a bath. She sank into the warm bubble bath with an ecs
tatic sigh.

“Aah, heaven.” Her mind wandered off to Rex Anderson’s call. “Pffft, telling me we need to talk. Bombastic baboon. Who does he think he is to bark out orders and expect me to jump to his command?”

It was one of those questions Chloe should have pondered over before rushing to the airport

  About the Author

Linzi Basset is a Bestselling Author of suspense and paranormal romance and erotica whose passion for writing began at an early age.

Linzi Basset reached Amazon Bestselling Author status with her very first series, Club Alpha Cove, a BDSM Club suspense series. All 11 books in the series achieved top 10 status on the Amazon Bestsellers ranking lists, with books 8 – 11 in the top 5 ranks. Books 10, His Cherished Sub and 11, For Amy, Their Cherished Sub achieved number 1 Amazon Bestseller ranking. His Forever Sub and His Cherished Sub were both nominated for the Golden Flogger awards (2016). His Cherished Sub was a finalist for the same award.

Linzi believes that telling stories in her own voice, driven by her own passion is what motivates her and that is the very essence that gets insinuated into every one of her stories. It's a distillation of who and what inhabits her being. She truly experiences and lives every scene. She feels every touch, every kiss, every harsh word uttered and that to her is the key.

“I write from the inside out. My stories are me. I live them. I couldn’t imagine writing a story looking in from the outside to try to describe something that I cannot see or feel. When I feel myself laboring unnecessarily to write a scene that I can’t connect to, I know it’s going to come out wrong. My editor always tells me to leave some things to the reader's imagination, because I become so involved with describing what I see and feel.”

Why do I write? This is the question we always have to think about, isn’t it? For me, it boils down to what Vincent Van Gogh once expressed: “I would rather die of passion than of boredom.” That's why I write. To express the deep well of passion that lives in my soul which is the part of me that I keep secreted away from my day to day existence. It's a part of me that had been suppressed for a long time primarily due to a very conservative upbringing. It was part of my familial and cultural heritage and what was expected of me. Now, I've reached a point in my life where I’m able to liberate myself and share my passion with others. Blossoming out of what once was the genesis of my own confined existence! Passion is what drives my creativity. Passion is what allows me to 'see' and express my own sensuality through the medium of the written word; to be able to draw from that deep well to define the beauty of eroticism and all that it encompasses. I want to share what I feel with others.
