“You are the only man I have eyes for. I swear it.”

Philip dropped his head and brushed his lips across her collarbone. “Hmm. I don’t know if I can trust you. What can you do to prove to me that you’re telling the truth?”

Lizzie’s pulsed quickened with anticipation. They hadn’t made love often during her pregnancy since it sapped her energy and made her so sick. Then, of course, there was Bethany to think about and often keeping her entertained and happy took a great deal of time, both from her and Philip. The times they were able to make love, it was less adventuresome than their original forays. Philip was concerned that being too excited would make the pregnancy more difficult than it had to be, and with their schedules, he was often just as tired as she was.

So, the promise of some light roleplaying had gotten her excited.

“Oh, I don’t know,” she purred back at him. “What did you think I should do to prove that my love transcends everything? Perhaps… perhaps I could let you fix my toilet?”

Philip’s brows furrowed. He eased back slightly, confusion written all over his face.

“Because earlier you said you’d like to play at the fantasy of being a plumber and I can’t pay you?” she prodded. Maybe it had been too vague a reference.

“Ah!” Philip laughed as he smirked. “I thought you were trying to make some reference to anal sex somehow.”

Lizzie’s jaw dropped and heat flared to her face. Not the pleasant kind, either. She tugged her hands free of him and covered her face, bursting into a fit of laughter brought on by the surprise and embarrassment of what he had thought. She understood how he could have thought that, too. When her giggling had passed, she peeked between her fingers at her mate, who was still above her, gazing down with a grin.

“Do… do you want to?” she asked him.

“No, not really. I’ve never seen the appeal. Not considering everything.” Philip cocked his head to one side. “Do you?”

Lizzie shook her head. She could honestly say that was one thing she had never fantasized about. Even when she read up on the subject, it just seemed too risky and painful to be worth it. She wrapped her arms around her husband, ready to put the embarrassing detour behind them. Her legs still circled his waist, and when she rose herself up to rub against him, she felt his hardness already.

“Right.” Philip moaned. “Where were we?”

“I was convincing you that I loved you and nobody else.”

  “Right.” He moaned again.

Lizzie kissed him, gently and then with increasing fervor. They rolled together, so she was on top. It was awkward for them to work around her large belly, but they kissed passionately as he propped himself up on his elbows. Lizzie moved to his neck, loving the taste of his skin and the way he shivered when she hit the right spots. Her hands roamed over his chest, which was deliciously bare. She hadn’t bothered to undress before their nap, but he was only in his boxers.

“What shall I do?” she murmured as she trailed kisses down his pectorals. She clenched one of his nipples between her teeth as his abdomen twitched. She continued her journey, reaching the waist of his boxers before making her way back up.

“You little vixen,” Philip breathed. “How did I ever get myself entrapped in your web?”

“A vixen is a female fox. They don’t make webs.”

Philip’s eyes glittered as he lifted a brow. Lizzie sucked in a quick breath, about to tell him to be careful because she was pregnant after all. She squealed as he suddenly bucked himself. His arms were around her as she tumbled backward, and he rolled over her, pinning her back down again. His lips curled back as he delved into her neck, nipping lightly. Her skin tingled as her head fell back. His hands were all over her.

“Being a smart ass now, are you?” he breathed, catching the neckline of her shirt in his teeth. “Let’s see how smart you are when you’re begging me to make you come, shall we?”

Lizzie squirmed in his grasp, laughing breathlessly as his firm fingers worked through her garments. One slid between her thick thighs, pressing hard. Shivers of pleasure ran through her as her hands wrapped tightly into his hair. He was always so sweet and gentle with her; even though she knew they couldn’t recreate their first time, the demand and dominance of his touch now made her melt. Heat moved through her body, coursing like dragon fire.

“Philip,” she groaned, one of her hands still in his hair, the other moving down his bare back, her nails lightly scraping over his spine.

“I know,” he groaned back. “Tell me, is this shirt one you particularly like?”

“No. The color is all wrong for me and the fit is a little off. I just didn’t want to do laundry and it’s the only clean shirt I have left.”

  “Good.”

There was a tearing noise. Her shirt tugged at her and then cool air brushed against her skin. Philip ripped her shirt open all the way, ruining it for certain, and pushed it down so that it was at her elbows. The fabric was slightly stiff, limiting her movements. Her breasts, swelling with pregnancy, fell upwards toward her chin. Philip apparently liked the view, because his big hands closed over them, squeezing gently.

A tingle tightened in her, going from each nipple straight to her swelling core. Zings of pleasure moved through her as his thumbs moved over the light lace of her bra. It had been a nightmare finding cute things to wear as her pregnancy progressed, but once she broke down and got Melodi’s help in finding the stores, she was amazed at the selection. She had put on this red lace bra for the same reason she put on the ugly shirt—laziness.

But now, seeing Philip greedily drink in the sight laid out before him, she was glad that she hadn’t just been going for comfort all day.

  “You are magnificent,” Philip breathed.

  “Not as magnificent as you.”

He leaned over her, his lips gentle as he traced her pulse and moved down her chest. He even brought her swollen nipples between his teeth, the pleasant scrape and sting of them making her shiver. Her whole body felt like it was going to burst open, her core was so tight. Her skin was surely going to burst into flame at her husband’s caress.

“You are magnificent,” he said again, hooking the fingers of one hand into the waist of her elastic pants. “You are beautiful, stubborn, smart, and the most wonderful woman in the world. How have I gotten so lucky? How did fate bless me so much?”

Lizzie stroked her fingers across his shoulders. “Feeling emotional there?”

Philip tugged her pants off, taking her underwear with them, then paused to rub his hands over her legs. “Emotional?”

“Well, we kind of went from me having to prove that I love you and only you, to you taking from me what you wanted, and now… you’re waxing poetic and telling me how wonderful I am. Don’t get me wrong, I like each of the options.” Here she grinned at him and adjusted the way she was laying so she was a little more comfortable. “It’s just that usually you pick one thing and then go for it. Today… you just must be feeling a lot of things.”

“I am,” Philip agreed. “I’m so in love with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I am so happy that I can. I’m excited about our future, I’m eager to find out what it’s going to bring. I want to take you like an animal, to release all my instincts. Not to hold back. But I don’t want to hurt you or the babies. I want to make love to you so sweetly and tenderly you cry. I want you to hold me down, I want to hold you down. I want so much, I can’t decide what I want most, other than you.”

Her heart fluttered at the sincerity of his words. The look in his eyes, the passion of his tone. Warmth spread through her as love rushed to every inch of her skin. He wasn’t the only one grateful and amazed at what fate had blessed him with. As she looked up at him, seeing the wonder and love in his eyes, she couldn’t help but think of the woman she was before they met. Work was her everything, and now she had so many joys in her life she wasn’t entirely certain if she was capable of appreciating it all.

  “I
love you,” she murmured.

He only smiled in reply, sliding his hand between her naked thighs. His fingers found her clit quickly. With the excitement she had already had, she was already slick as he moved his fingers about her. It wasn’t long before her core was tightened to a point where heat flooded every inch of her. Philip’s mouth was against her neck as she moaned and writhed, clinging to him even as he shifted her little by little until they were spooning.

He held her tightly, working her clit until she came with a shuddering cry. Lizzie lay there, reveling in his touch and the closeness between them while he continued to gently stroke her, kissing her shoulders. When she was ready again, he pushed himself inside of her. His hands gripped her arms and pulled them back, still trapped in the torn remnants of her shirt.

“If this gets uncomfortable, tell me.”

Lizzie nodded, to show she had heard him. Then he started to move, and it was like her previous release had never happened. Her hands dug into the skin at her hips as he thrust in a steady rhythm. All her muscles clenched as pleasure coursed through her. He was so gentle with her, though, even with his firm grip and his teeth nipping at the back of her neck. She was soon crying out, his name mingling with gasps and pleas for release once more.

“Be… patient,” he ground out in a breathless laugh, kissing her neck.

  “I’m… trying!”

Her legs moved forward and backward, writhing. Philip turned her, releasing one of her arms to put a pillow beneath her so she could be more comfortable before picking up his pace again. It was even harder this time, and her whole body felt like it was on fire. She breathed in noisy gasps as Philip’s steel plunged into her again and again. She was about to burst apart, she knew she was.

Then Philip came undone behind her. He howled, his movements jerky. Hot spurts filled her, and she clamped down on him. Waves of black washed over her vision as pleasure erased all thoughts. She floated in the peaceful bliss for she didn’t know how long. Then, she was back in her body, panting and gasping as Philip turned her back over and gently stroked the hair from her face.

“Are you alright?” he asked in a low voice.

Lizzie grinned back at him, feeling more relaxed than she had in a long time. “Hell yeah.”

He laughed lightly and kissed her again. “You know, it’s always a surprise when I hear you swearing.”

  “Is it?”

“Yes, it is. And I hope you never stop surprising me.”

Lizzie laughed as she snuggled closer, wrapping her arms around him. Now the laziness of completion was wrapping around her, wanting to pull her back to sleep. And she might as well get it now, when she was sleepy and relaxed, right? After all, in another four months there wouldn’t be as much time for all that. She brushed her mouth to his.

“I’ll try,” she promised. “As long as you never stop loving me.”

“Never,” Philip promised. “For eternity and beyond. I am yours, Lizzie King. Never forget that.”

“Never,” she promised back. “Never, ever.”
