E.V.I.E.: 13 Slayers, 13 Missions
Page 176
Gillian grinned at Solange. “There you are,” she said, reaching out to hug Solange. “There’s my friend.” Gillian handed the cross to Solange who put it on, fastening the repaired clasp behind her neck. When she looked at Gillian again, she had blue eyes and her teeth were just as blunt as anyone else’s.
Gillian handed her back the black onyx sphere suspended on the silver chain. “Maybe you could give this one to Crispin. He’d probably be good back up.”
Solange’s eyebrows raised. “Really?!”
“Really. You could be the first E.V.I.E. operative to have her own personal built in bodyguard.”
Solange laughed lightheartedly and looked down at her hands again, before raising her face to look Gillian in the eyes. “He’s mine. He’s my male, and I won’t give him up for anything.”
“I suspected as much. Are you happy, Solange?” Gillian asked.
“I am. Very. Things are changing. Grandmama wants me to take over the coven in the next few years. Crispy is patient with me while I learn to share who I am and to give and take, and he loves me unconditionally. Mr. Scruffikins is happy and adores Crispy as much as I do.
“I’m happy for you, Solange. I’ve always felt bad that all you did for your entire childhood was train. I understand why it was the way it was, or at least I think I do. I think Marceline was preparing you to protect yourself.”
“Exactly,” Solange confirmed.
“But you never got to have any fun, never got to go on your first date. Never got to have sleepovers or go to school dances. Never went shopping with your friends. Every time I read through your file, my heart hurt for you. I’m so happy you have your Crispy. And I’m happy you’re exploring other avenues in your life.”
“Thank you, Gillian.”
“You’re welcome. Now, I’ve taken up enough of your day. You let me know when you’re ready for your next mission. We’ll be ready for you. And if you want to bring along your own bodyguard, I have no problem with that.”
Solange stood as Gillian did. “Thank you,” she repeated, hugging Gillian.
Gillian hugged Solange tightly. “No, thank you, Solange. The world has no idea what a debt it owes you. You are a blessing to us all.”
Solange walked Gillian to the door and saw her off before running up the stairs. “Crispy! How do you feel about being an honorary vampire slayer?!”

About the Author
My name is Sandra R Neeley. I write Paranormal, SciFi, and Fantasy Romances. Why, you may ask? Because who doesn't love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines — because, well, normal is highly overrated, so Paranormal it is. I’m 56, I have two kids, one 33 and one 13(yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband and a menagerie of animals. I love to cook, and was a voracious reader. Since I started writing, I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I’m a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I’m a self-published author and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I tend to follow my muse — the louder the voice, the greater the chance that voice’s story is next.
I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please read the warnings supplied with each of the synopsis about my books before you buy them. I’ve got four series published at this time, Avaleigh’s Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - SciFi Romance, and Riley’s Pride - PNR, a couple of standalone novels, several short stories, and much, much more to come. I’m always glad to hear from my readers, so feel free to look me up and say hello.
