About the Author
The journalist, author and broadcaster Spencer Leigh was born in Liverpool, England, and is an acknowledged authority on the Beatles. He has been broadcasting his weekly show, On the Beat, on BBC Radio Merseyside for more than thirty years and over that time has conducted more interviews about the band – all captured on tape – than anyone in the world. He has written over twenty-five books, hundreds of album sleeve notes and he writes obituaries of musicians for the Independent and the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. He is an Honoured Friend at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, and he has a Gold Badge of Merit from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. Spencer will always live on Merseyside.
Spencer Leigh is also the author of Frank Sinatra: An Extraordinary Life, Best of the Beatles: The Sacking of Pete Best, The Cavern Club: Rise of the Beatles and Merseybeat and Love Me Do to Love Me Don’t: The Beatles on Record, published by McNidder & Grace.
