Given to the Gladiator

Page 6

by Olivia T. Turner

General Gaius Agricola leaps up from his seat beside us and starts barking orders to his guards. “Close the gates of the city. Round up the Senators. I’m taking over.”

The Emperor was widely disliked by the people and they’re all cheering as they watch his gruesome demise.

“Kaeso!” the General barks as my gladiator wraps his protective arms around me once again.

We both stare at him for a few long tense seconds. Kaeso just assassinated the Emperor in front of fifty thousand people. Will he order our execution as well? Even a beast like Kaeso can’t fight off a whole Roman army and that’s exactly what the General has camped out on the outskirts of Rome.

“Thank you,” the General says with a nod. “Now hurry and go. Be free.”

Without another word, Kaeso grabs me and throws me over his shoulder. He clutches onto the back of my thighs and runs.

To our freedom, to our future, to anywhere but here…

  Chapter Nine

  Kaeso

It’s chaos on the streets of Rome as the masses in the Colosseum exit and General Gaius’ army moves into the city to take over. The city guards loyal to the Emperor that I just fed to the tigers meet them to battle.

Clanging swords and the screaming of dying men ring out all around us as I hold onto my Venus and flee with her to safety. This is not my fight. My fighting days are over.

  Okay, maybe just one more…

I spot my old master Septimus loading up a carriage with his vast wealth. This is not the first General to take over the city of Rome and when they do, the soldiers like to steal from the wealthy citizens. I’m sure that Septimus knows that and is escaping to lay low for a while.

His eyes go wide when he sees me approaching, but he covers his fear with an easy smile. “You made it out, old friend. I was worried about you.”

He steps a little closer to his carriage as I charge up to him with murderous intent. “You sold my Venus? To the Emperor?”

His chin trembles, but he quickly hides his fear with another smile. “I certainly did not,” he says indignantly. “The Emperor’s guard stole her from you.”

“It was him,” Elovissa says as she glares at him. “He came into my cell and took me. He said he wanted you to see me on the lap of the Emperor to throw you off your game.”

“She lies!” Septimus says as his easy veneer begins to crack and he begins to show his true panic. “How long have we known each other, Kaeso? I’ve treated you well! You’re going to believe her over me? She’s nothing but a whore!”

My hand darts out and wraps around his cowardly neck. “Please!” he gasps as his hands wrap around my thick wrist. “I’ll give you money!”

“The money you made off me?” I ask as I squeeze a little tighter. His mouth opens but nothing comes out. “The money you made off Elovissa?”

His tanned skin begins to turn a light shade of blue as I choke the life out of him.

“I’ll take your fortune,” I say as his wide eyes begin to fall closed. “Because it’s mine. I earned it. I deserve it. You deserve nothing but what Hades has waiting for you in the Underworld.”

I squeeze until his body stiffens and his eyes go blank. When I let go, he falls to the ground in a lifeless heap.

“In the carriage,” I tell Elovissa as she stares at him with a blank face. “Don’t look at such things, my love.”

She hurries onto the seat of the carriage and I hop up beside her and grab the reins to the two horses.

“That’s Pegasus!” she says with a gasp.

“No, love,” I say with a smile. “Pegasus has wings. These are two ordinary horses.”

She rolls her eyes at me and grins. “I know that! It’s my horse. Pegasus. We escaped together and now he’s here. Septimus purchased the two of us. I didn’t know where he was.”

My heart swells in my chest as we ride out of the city together, loaded with chests full of all the treasures that Septimus accumulated. It’s ours now.

But more importantly, we have each other. And we’re never letting that go.

Four long days of traveling later and we’re boarding a boat to sail to the island of Crete. From there, we’ll sail to a small island like I’ve seen in my dreams where we can start a family and live the life my Elovissa deserves.

“You are the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen,” I say to her as she stands on the bow of the boat. The sun is shining in her striking blonde hair, making it glow like Venus herself has put a blessing on it.

She smiles as the warm breeze washes over her gorgeous face. “Tell me again about the future you see.”

She moans as I take her in my arms. I’m never able to resist touching this woman. My body aches when she’s not near it.

“We’ll purchase a farm overlooking the sea on a small quiet island where the only fighting is between the gentle waves lapping against the sun-bleached rocks.”

She smiles as she looks up at me. The fortune that Septimus accumulated at my expense was quite significant and we can purchase whatever property we please.

“We’ll have boys. Lots of them. Six strapping young boys with enough muscle for an army or to raise a harvest so big it will make us the richest couple on the island.”

“Six?” she says with a gulp. “All boys?”

“Yes,” I say with a firm nod. “All stout young boys.”

“I don’t think you get to pick that,” she says as she presses her soft breasts against my stomach.

“We’ll see,” I say with an unstoppable smile as the boat sails away from the mainland toward our new future that’s looking more perfect by the second. “A man as virile as me cannot help but breed his woman with boys.”

She smiles as she looks up at me like she knows something I don’t.

“I can’t wait,” she says and I can’t help but take her mouth in a deep sensual kiss.

  Epilogue

  Elovissa

  16 years later…

Kaeso was right about the number of kids we had—six—but that’s where the accuracy of his predictions ended.

“Breakfast!” I shout when the wheat pancakes are ready.

Kaeso is the first at the table followed closely by his six daughters.

“Hello, Papa,” they all say one by one, kissing his cheeks as they take their spots around the table. I walk up to where he’s sitting at the head and he wraps an arm around my waist as we watch them dig into the bowls of dates, honey, grilled fish, nuts, peaches, and wheat pancakes.

The look on his face is pure joy as he watches the six blonde girls fill their plates.

“Are you working today, Papa?” our eight-year-old Camilla asks.

“I’m the only member of the Vigiles on the island, Camilla,” he says as I fill his plate with food. “I’m always working even when I’m not.”

When our quaint island of five thousand people named Kaeso to be the one to watch over them and patrol the streets, crime dropped to zero overnight. I guess the criminals got one look of my giant of a man in his uniform and decided to retire.

“But will you be painting?” Camilla asks.

He looks up at me and I smile. “Yes,” he says with a grin. “I was planning on painting by the water.”

The girls are up to something. Mischief no doubt. The only people on the island who don’t fear Kaeso are his girls. When they get into trouble, he tries to bark orders and be the tough guy, but they all see right through his bark.

“You snarl and pounce around like a lion,” I always tell him, “but your daughters know that when it comes to them, you’re nothing more than a little cub with hearts in his eyes.”

“Am I that obvious?” he answers with a grin.

“I bet you’ll paint your best masterpiece yet,” Alba says with a wide smile.

Yup. They’re definitely up to some mischief.

After the food is gone and the girls have cleaned up, they scamper out of the house leaving me and Kaeso alone.

  “Can I walk with you
?” I ask when he’s gathered his painting supplies.

“Of course,” he says with a smile as he wraps his arm around me. “I’ll never say no to my muse.”

I have a smile that refuses to leave as we walk along our farm next to the gorgeous sparkling turquoise sea. It’s just as Kaeso had imagined it and describe to me all those years ago.

The island is safe and friendly with natural beauty so heart-wrenchingly serene that it will bring tears to your eyes.

The past sixteen years with this man has been better than I ever could have imagined my life would be. He’s been a devoted father, a loving husband, and one tenacious satisfying lover.

We’ve built an amazing life on this island and have tons of friends that now feel like family. They’ve been better than my real family ever was.

“This is a beautiful view,” I say, stopping by the water. The sun is sparkling on the sea with the trees swaying gently in the wind. We’re surrounded by colorful flowers amongst the long grass. “It would make a lovely painting.”

When we arrived on our new island and purchased the house and farm, Kaeso had discovered the painting studio left in the back room. He disappeared into it to clean it up and throw out all that ‘junk,’ but when I went to check on him a few hours later, he had begun to paint the most gorgeous painting of me. He is as talented with a brush as he is with a sword, and he now paints for hobby and to help ease the echoing screams of his former life.

“It is quite lovely,” he says as he looks out at the spectacular view. “But not nearly as lovely as you.”

I swallow hard when I see that look in his eye. The look that got me knocked up six times.

“Take off your clothes,” he says with a growl.

I look around as my skin tingles. “Here?”

  “It’s private.”

“I like the paintings you did of me in my youth,” I say, feeling shy and self-conscious as I wrap my arms around my chest. “I was beautiful then.”

“You’re more beautiful now,” he says as his heated eyes take me in.

“I have lines on my stomach and my breasts hang like the weighted branches of a tree.”

“Take off your clothes,” he commands in that firm dominant voice that always gets me going.

  I gulp.

“You’ll barely last two strokes of that paintbrush before you start stroking something else.”

He grins as his hungry eyes darken even more. “Do you not wish to see that?”

I swallow hard as I think about it for 0.2 seconds. “Okay,” I say as I grab my shirt and slide it off, showing my bare breasts that have been sucked dry from my children, but somehow he still loves. “Is that enough?”

  “Bottoms also.”

I grin as I wiggle out of my pants, shaking my hips as I pull them down.

“This will be a little too obscene to sell in the market.”

He licks his lips as he watches me. “This one is for my eyes only,” he says in a low throaty voice. “Just like your body is for my eyes only.”

And just like I had said, he gets about two strokes of his paintbrush in before he’s stripping down and walking over to me with his towering manhood as hard as a rock.

“Should we go for a boy this time?” I ask him with a grin as he thrusts in deep.

He smiles before it turns into a moan “Nah. Girls are growing on me. I like being a harmless cub.”

And minutes later, I have a seventh girl growing in my womb.

I can already tell, just like I could with the first six.

And just like the others, I know it’s going to be perfect.
