My journey across the world changed my life in many ways. I am eternally grateful to the people I met along the way—both the people who by now you are very familiar with, and the many, many more who were not mentioned in this book. Yet there is another category of friends and family who were absolutely integral to my journey. The people behind the scenes who without their love, support, and creativity you would not be reading this book.
I would like to thank my mother and father for their unwavering support for my decision to branch off on my own path. And my three brothers whose achievements always amaze me and whose friendship and love I cherish dearly.
Steve, Greg, James, and Erick, you know how much I appreciate every ounce of the heart and soul you put into this project. Thank you for believing in this crazy Englishman.
The good people at Reader’s Digest: Thank you for your faith in me. Fiona, I guess some things are just meant to be. I am humbled by the belief you had in me and appreciate it more than you will ever know.
Suzanne, you are a wise and kind lady. You have taught me a lot and I thank you for your guidance.
My editor extraordinaire, Kristen. Without your creativity and your “magic sprinkles” this book would not be the book it is today. I owe you big time! Thanks for putting up with me over these past few months and I look forward to many more editorial adventures.
My good friend Alfa, I thank you for all your wise advice and all your help with the book. When you go to India, my good friend Ramchandra is waiting for you.
Winston. When I said in the book that you taught me how to love, I wasn’t kidding. You did. And for that I will be forever grateful.
Last but not least, to my darling girlfriend, Lina. Sorry that I left you for all those months. I can’t promise that I won’t do it again, but I can promise that I will love you deeply along the way. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed. You are a shining beacon in my stormy sea. I love you.
