“The darkness emerged through another vessel and decided to join the amulet as one. Assuming that as a single amulet, instead of pieces, it could amass greater power,” Lamia continued. “For a time, this was the case…” She trailed off, her eyes growing dark as if remembering the events herself, maybe some memory from her past that made this all too real for her. She pressed on though, not revealing where her thoughts had wandered.

“Darkness ruled and the clans were split once again. Eventually it was captured, and the amulet passed to a single clan to protect it and in return them. Unable or unwilling to divide the amulet again, it caused the rift between the clans to remain,” Lamia finished.

“Our clan has protected the amulet, keeping the darkness at bay for centuries. However the truth remained buried beneath the feud, never being revealed until the queens passed and reached the Well,” Calledora informed me.

“It is time that the amulet is split again, and new queens are found Selena,” Lamia declared, her face void of any of her usual humor. “If you have any hope of defeating the darkness, each of the clans needs to be lead by a strong queen, all united by the amulet once more.”

“How the fuck am I supposed to split up a magical amulet? Or find leaders for clans that hate the very air I breathe, for that matter?” I asked, now yelling. This was beyond insane.

“This is your only hope Selena,” Calledora stated.

I flung my hand through the air, yanking myself back to my bed.

What was I supposed to do? Put out an ad, looking for a future queen? Must accept that vampires exist, a positive if you already are one, bonus if you are good at multi-tasking and if you know how to split a magical amulet, please apply within?

These women were fucking nut jobs. So far though, I had to admit that although they were crazy as fruit bats, they hadn’t steered me wrong yet, so I had no reason to think they would start now.

It looked like I was about to try to figure out the impossible.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Thank you to my amazing team of readers that helped make sure that the craziness coming from my head made sense to all of you. You all have made this the most amazing experience and have been so encouraging. I couldn’t have done this without you.

A special thanks to Kat for putting up with my crazy ass, and listening to my rants when the characters wouldn’t do what I told them to. I’m so glad we found each other!

To my family, (if you didn’t heed my warning and turned the page) for dealing with me when all I wanted to talk about was hot, sexy strippers. Thank you for not throwing me off a cliff.

  About the Author

Everly Taylor is a Fantasy author, and is often called crazy for the things that come from her imagination. She took that crazy and turned some of it into words for you to enjoy.

She loves spending time with her three boys and niece, filling their heads with fantastic stories to expand their minds.

She is the proud mommy of a sasshole husky named Suki. No, she's not named after that show, or that place, or that person. And a black cat, named Blue. She is often mistaken for a witch by her neighbors, but of course she encourages this belief with the utmost enthusiasm.

She has what might be termed an unhealthy obsession with Jackie Chan, but owns that to the fullest, still hoping one day to rock his world.

Born to be a pirate she prefers rum over wine, and has a mouth to match a sailor. You can often catch her telling dirty jokes with her brothers if she isn't writing even dirtier scenes for her readers.
