“Wait? Go to an actual publishing company?”

“Yes, of course. The one you’ve been researching. What do you think?”

“I think that would be amazing. Thank you so much.” Before she knew what she was thinking, she threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. She was so happy, and that was crazy.

Alfie wrapped his arms around her, and something else happened to Sophia that had never happened before.

She became aroused, instantly so. Pulling away quickly, she was mortified. This man was her boss, and there was no way in hell that she should be aroused by him.

  Biting her lip, she smiled.

“You really need to stop doing that,” Alfie said.

  “Doing what?”

He reached out and pulled on her lip, drawing it away from her teeth. “Doing that biting your lip. You have no idea what it does to me.” He stepped up close to her, and with nowhere else to go, she pressed her back against the wall.

The look in his eyes was so damn sinful, and for the first time in her life, Sophia wanted to cave to this man, to find out what all the fuss was about. It was so wrong. He was her boss, and she was merely an intern. Not only that, anyone could find out, and she would be the laughingstock of the entire building.

“You don’t want me to do this?” she asked, and bit her lip again.

Alfie groaned, captured her hands, and pressed them either side of her head. Sophia was in a haze, unable to break free, nor did she want to.

Locking her fingers with his, she stared into his green eyes. His blond hair fell down over one eye, and he looked ready to fuck. She was a virgin, not stupid.

They were alone. Everyone had left hours ago, and she had been so desperate to give her presentation that she had stayed late, even telling Freya she wouldn’t be home ‘til late.

“I think you’re tempting me, Sophia.”

“I don’t know how to do that.” She wanted his hands on her.

Her nipples were rock hard, pressing against the front of her shirt. This was so wrong. He was her boss, and he was older than she was. This shouldn’t be happening. Not today, not when she had really enjoyed everything.

She licked her lips, unable to stop herself from dropping her gaze down to his lips. They were so firm, and much to her shame, she had wondered what they would feel like on hers.

This had never happened before. She had dreamt about him late at night and woken in a sweat at some of the sexy dreams she’d been having. Never had she experienced a sex dream with a man she was close to.

Alfie pressed his body against hers, and she whimpered. Fire ignited inside her, and it was like she had never been touched before. What was more important, she didn’t want it to stop.

  Chapter Six

This was crazy. Alfie had planned to the finest detail exactly how this was going to play out, and yet nothing was going according to plan. Nothing. Her body felt so good against his, and he couldn’t hold back from wanting her, from tasting her.

She belonged to him in more ways than one, and he never wanted to let that go.

  “Alfie,” she said.

One taste, that was all he needed. A small taste to get him through.

He slammed his lips down on hers, and the moment he touched her, he knew it wouldn’t be enough. Releasing her hands, he sank his fingers into her hair and held on tightly, holding her as he ravished her mouth. Her hands went to his shoulders, and through his shirt, he felt the crescent moon of her nails as they sank into his flesh. She was fucking perfection, and everything he had dreamed of for over a year.

Within seconds her hands had gone from his shirt, sinking into his hair, kissing him back with a passion that astounded him.

There was a fire inside her, and he intended to break it loose. He wanted it all to himself, every last piece, and he would get it, he was sure of it. There was no way he couldn’t have her. The past year had been a nightmare.

Sophia was the first one to pull away, shaking her head. “That shouldn’t have happened. I shouldn’t have kissed you. Oh, crap, you’re my boss.”

He smiled. “You do not need to worry about a thing. I wanted to kiss you.”

“What about the other interns? They’re going to think I slept my way here. Oh, what have I done?”

Alfie silenced all protest from her lips by taking possession of them once again. Holding her close, he pulled her away from the white board, taking her toward the sofa in the corner of his office. Taking a seat, he tugged her onto his lap, marveling at her curves that were finally in his arms.

“This is crazy,” she said between kisses. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”

Running his hands over the flesh of her ass, he tugged her down, grinding his cock against her pussy. He wouldn’t fuck her tonight, but one day soon, he was going to have to have her, to fuck her, to possess her.

“Tell me to stop,” he said.

“I can’t.” She cupped his face and kissed him back. He loved her inexperience, and knew it would be only a matter of time before she belonged so completely to him.

He tugged up her skirt, caressing her inner thigh, and stroking her wet pussy through her panties. The fabric was soaked with her arousal.

“Oh, God, I’ve never felt like this before.”

Alfie loved that. He was going to make sure that no one else ever made her feel like this again.

Shoving her panties to one side, he ran his finger up her slit, finding her swollen clit. She cried out, tugging on his hair as he stroked her clit. Her eyes closed, and her cheeks were flushed.

  “Show me your tits.”

  “What?” she asked, frowning.

“I want to see those gorgeous tits. Show them to me.”

She pulled her hands away, unbuttoning her shirt, revealing her creamy flesh to his gaze. The white lacy bra only seemed to highlight the red of her nipples. He wanted to taste her so damn bad. She looked good enough to eat.

Without him asking, she eased the lacy cups down, exposing her tits to his gaze, and boy, were they beautiful. Stroking her clit, he sucked her nipple into his mouth, and moaned as she sank her fingers into his hair, saying his name.

It had taken long enough, but one of his dreams had come true, to have this beautiful woman moan his name in the throes of pleasure.

His cock was rock hard, begging for her tight cunt, and he ignored it. This wasn’t about him, but about her.

“Do you like that, Sophia? Do you like my fingers on you?” He flicked her nipple at the same time he pinched her clit, and she nodded her head. Moving her skirt out of the way, he watched his fingers sliding between her slit. They were already coated in her cream. “Watch me finger your clit, baby. You’re so wet.”

He wanted to do so many dirty, wicked things to her, to bring every secret fantasy out into the open between them.

“Has a man ever made you come?” he asked.

She shook her head. “No. No one has ever made me come.”

“I want you to scream my name when you do.” She looked up at him, and nodded. Her lips were red from his kisses, and she looked so fucking sexy, and dirty, like a PA fucking her boss, giving him everything he needed. His cock pressed against the front of his pants, and still he ignored it.

She was getting closer, her body growing tighter as he brought her to orgasm. He watched as she came apart, screaming his name as she rode his fingers. Soon, her tight virgin pussy would be wrapped around his cock, coming all over him. Until then, he would have to do with just watching her. She looked so fucking beautiful.

He would remember this forever, and hold it as a cherished memory. She collapsed against him, and he pulled his fingers from her, licking the cream from them. She tasted amazing, and he knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was the first, and the only person to have tasted her.

She was panting as she pulled away just a little.

“That shouldn’t have happened,” she said.

“There’s no denying that you wanted me, So
phia, and don’t worry about a thing. No one will know what happened here. What you just gave me was a precious thing.” He pressed a kiss to her lips.

It would be the first of many to come.

Sophia couldn’t get him out of her mind. No matter what she did, all she could think about was how good his fingers felt rubbing her clit, or his mouth on her tits. Freya’s mother was right. There was always one man that was a woman’s weakness, and she truly believed that she had found hers.

When she got home that night—Alfie’s driver had taken her home—for the first time ever, she didn’t tell Freya what happened. She ate dinner, listened to her talk about Jared, and went to bed.

All night she tossed and turned thinking about what had happened in his office, the way she had done everything he had told her to, and not once had she been embarrassed. His kiss had been addictive, and she had wanted it again, and again.

Her lips still felt branded by his kiss, and her body was on fire.

Before she had gotten back to her apartment, he had sent her a text reminding her that they were scheduled to leave tomorrow morning.

The following morning, at breakfast, Sophia was crunching her way through some cereal as Freya entered, pouring herself a coffee.

“What is with the suitcase?” Freya asked.

“Crap, I totally forgot to tell you. I’ve got to fly out with the boss today. We’ve got something going on at his publishing company he’s just acquired.”

“Why have you gone red?” Freya asked. “Do you have a little crush on your boss?”

  “No, of course not.”

“I think you do. I think you have a little crush on Alfie Brown. The hot guy that you think I don’t know you’re totally searching on the ‘net.”

Sophia chuckled. “This coming from the woman who keeps talking about Jared every two minutes.”

Freya sighed. “I know, forgive me.”

Finishing her cereal, she took the coffee that Freya offered, pleased that they hadn’t lingered on the boss topic. She didn’t want to talk about Alfie or the near sex they had last night. He had made her come, and it was just so crazy to her.

“So I will have this apartment all to myself?” Freya asked.

“Yes. I’ll call when we land and everything.” She hugged her friend, and together they left their small apartment. Sophia wasn’t surprised to see that Alfie was already parked outside of her apartment building.

Freya chuckled. “I’ll see you when you get back.”

Sophia laughed, nervously, and then made her way toward the back of the waiting car where Alfie was standing, holding open the door.

“Did you sleep well?” he asked.

  “Yeah, I think so.”

“Good, good. That’s what I like to hear.” He moved out of the way, taking her bag for her, and doing the gentlemanly thing. Sliding into the car, she made sure to keep as much room available for him as possible. She smiled at the driver, and wished that last night had never happened. What was she supposed to do, or say?

Nothing made any sense to her right now. Within seconds Alfie was beside her, and the screen between them and the drive was pushed up. Her heart was racing, and not just because of what happened last night.

Her hormones were all over the place, and she wanted this man. Why did it have to be him? Her boss.

  “You’re nervous,” Alfie said.

She glanced over at him, biting her lip. Then realizing what she was doing, and how that had gotten her into trouble, she stopped doing it. “Sorry.”

“You do not need to be sorry, baby. Just know what that does to me.”

He reached out, stroking her lip. It was such a tender moment. She released a breath, and frowned.

“How did you know where I lived?”

“It was on your employment record. You don’t need to worry at all, Sophia. I wish you no harm.”

  She looked toward the driver.

“You may speak about anything. We’ve got our privacy.”

“Last night shouldn’t have happened. It was a big mistake, and I’m sorry if I led you on.”

He began to laugh, and shake his head. “I know you didn’t lead me on. I know a great deal.”

  “You do?”

“Yes, I do. Last night was all on me, and you find me attractive even when you don’t want to.” He took hold of her hand, and locked their fingers together. His hand was slightly darker than hers, tanned.

  “You’re my boss.”

“That’s no reason not to find me attractive.”

“You must have hundreds of women falling all over you.”

He sighed. “No. There’s no other woman, and even if there was, I wouldn’t look at anyone else.” He cupped her cheek, and turned her to look at him. “There’s only you.”

  “I’m no one.”

  “I don’t care. To me, you’re someone.”

Tears filled her eyes, and she shook her head. “This is crazy. You don’t have a clue who I am. I don’t even know you.”

“Then get to know me. Ask me anything you like, and I will answer.”

  “You will?”

  “Yes.”

She went to bite her lip again, and stopped herself. “What’s your best memory?” she asked.

“Last night, having you come apart in my arms. I will remember and cherish it always.”

“No, that’s not possible. You have to have another memory. One that is different?”

“Nope. That’s it. That is my favorite.”

“But you head a massive company.”

He shook his head. “I don’t care. Last night went right up to the top of being my favorite memory.” He pressed a kiss to her lips before she had the chance to stop him. “And I have you to thank for that. If you must know, my favorite color is green, and I like listening to pop music. I happen to adore chick flicks, and I love dogs.”

  “You love dogs?” she asked.

“Yep. They are a man’s best friend after all.”

Sophia couldn’t help but smile. There was something about Alfie that she couldn’t help but feel like she had known him, or he’d been what she was waiting for.

“You’re full of surprises, Mr. Brown.”

“You just wait, Miss Cross. I have a feeling we’ve only just begun.”

  Chapter Seven

They arrived at the publishing house around lunchtime. The main CEOs were waiting to escort them around, but Alfie insisted on eating first. After a sandwich and a coffee, they were taken on a tour. He was shown how everything worked, the department, the editorial staff, along with the agents, and everything else.

For once, he was impressed, and he saw Sophia was as well. She loved literature, and he loved her, so he was more than willing to do whatever it took to give her what made her happy.

There was a moment when they had been in the distribution department that Sophia had held his hand, and leaned into him. “Don’t you think this is the most amazing thing you’ve ever seen?”

He’d not responded. The most amazing thing he had ever seen was the day he first saw Sophia in a waitress’s uniform. By the end of the day, Alfie was more than convinced that he’d done the right thing. Now, he just needed to convince Sophia to finish that first book that several agents and editors believed would be amazing.

Once they were finished, he escorted Sophia to her hotel room, following her inside.

  “Wow, this is amazing.”

“I’m pleased you liked it. The view does overlook the city, but if I could, I’d have made sure it looked over the beach.”

She turned toward him as she was standing at the windows. “You’re a real sweet person.”

“Not really. I read your employment file.”

“I already figured that one out,” she said with a giggle. It wasn’t one of those irritating giggles either. He moved up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders.

“I don’t want you to be uncomfortable around me.”

&n
bsp; She had tensed up the moment that he touched her.

  “I’m not.”

“You are. I don’t expect anything from you, nothing at all. I want you to be happy with me, Sophia.”

“I am, very happy.” She turned in his arms, and she was doing that damn lip biting again, which seemed to have a special code that went straight to his cock. “I’m surprised. I thought I would be totally bored.”

“You’re bored with most of my projects. The publishing company, I know that is really your passion.”

She sighed and looked away. “It is, and I know it’s useless. Only a small portion of submissions ever get picked, and only then it’s like a total miracle if someone gets picked up, and actually makes it work. I’m sorry. I don’t want to moan. It’s just hard, you know, to pick a future when everything you want to do is pointed in one direction, and everyone else is telling you to look elsewhere.”

“I was told to look elsewhere, Sophia. Everyone. The only people who really convinced me to follow my heart were my parents, and I loved them for it.”

“I’m so sorry you lost them.”

He smiled. “You did some digging on me?”

  She sighed. “I was curious.”

“Does you roommate know these things about me?”

“No, of course not. I didn’t tell her anything. My face did.”

Alfie chuckled. “Your face told your friend stuff about us?”

“Yeah, it sounds completely crazy, but she mentioned about you being hot, and we did that thing on your sofa in your office.”

“I made you come.” He cupped her face, stroking her smooth, soft cheeks. She was so beautiful. He didn’t want anything in the way, especially not her hair.

“I was thinking about that, and I never helped you.” Her hand landed on his stomach. “I don’t know what is happening to me.”

  “What do you mean?”

“No guy has ever made me lose control like that. I’ve never wanted to be with anyone. I was happy in my own little virgin world, and now, I can’t stop thinking about you.” She covered his hands with her own. “Whenever I’m near you I think about your hands on my body. The way your tongue flicked my nipple, and I want more. Even when I’m not near you, I remember it, and it’s driving me crazy.”
