I glance down at my suit and thank the party gods that I packed my best one. It’s a fitted dark navy blue suit and I’m wearing a white shirt with a light gray tie.

I’m probably looking the best I can, but it’s still nothing compared to her. She looks phenomenal. Nothing but two thin straps on her bare shoulders holding up what looks like the only thin material between me and her naked body.

My mouth starts to water when I imagine her soft pink nipples rubbing against the inside of that dress. Her neckline plunges down, showing just enough of her luscious cleavage to drive an obsessed possessive man like myself crazy.

I want to tell her how stunning she is. That I’ll never look at another girl like I’m looking at her. I want to tell her that I love her and that I will never stop loving her. That I’ll be hers forever.

  “You’re late.”

She snorts out a laugh as she walks by me, shaking her head. “You’re full of lines, aren’t you, Callaway? You should teach a class.”

My eyes drop down her toned back and fall all the way to her ass that looks mesmerizing, swaying with every step she takes on her black heels.

I’m cursing myself as I catch up to her. Why can’t I say anything right with this girl?

“I meant… I was waiting to see you.”

She stops abruptly between two tables. Eyes start drifting up to us as she waits for me to make a fool of myself yet again with a grin on her unbelievably gorgeous face. “And?”

  “And what?” I ask.

She drops her shoulders and rolls her eyes. “Jesus, Eli. Have you never met a girl before? Well, let me explain something to you. When a girl makes a grand entrance wearing a dress she spent a month’s salary on, you compliment her.”

  “You look—”

“Too late.” She spins away and I hear a few chuckles from the people eavesdropping around me as she heads over to her table.

I watch her smile as she takes a seat. “Hello, everyone! Sorry to be late. I have a little puppy with bone cancer and I had to wait for my neighbor to bring him here so I could give him his shot. She was too squeamish to do it.”

My palms are all sweaty as I look around the table at all the men’s eyes on her. This girl could have any guy she wants and I really want that guy to be me. I need something big.

A grand gesture to grab her attention for good.

“Yes,” I whisper when it hits me.

I run back to my table just as Mr. Brown is about to say something. “Good, you’re back, Eli. This is important. I’d like you to hear it. Nolan and I were discussing—”

I snatch my phone off the table and race out of the hall, ignoring Mr. Brown. He can take his nine figures and keep it for all I care. I have something to get that’s way more important than money.

Getting Carrie is all I care about now.

My pulse is racing as I dial the phone in the quiet of the hallway. It rings twice.

“Brooke!” I say when my sister answers. “I need your help. Badly.”

  Chapter Six

  Carrie

I know I’m torturing this man, but I don’t know why it’s so fun.

I can feel Eli’s eyes on me from across the room, but I haven’t looked over at him once. Although, that’s definitely taken some effort. He’s incredibly hot and he’s looking scorching in that fitted navy suit that is so lucky with the way it gets to be glued to his big arms and broad shoulders. It took everything I had not to run my hands along the soft material to feel the hardness of him underneath.

“Are you finished?” the waitress asks me as she reaches for my plate.

“Yes, thanks,” I say as the staff clears our table. We just finished the main meal and the DJ is warming up the place with some 90’s music.

After the upbeat song finishes, the DJ plays a slow song by Mariah Carey and a few couples make their way over to the dance floor.

I’m itching to look over at Eli, but I keep my eyes glued to the table.

“Would you like to dance, Carrie?” Mr. Miller asks in a tone that’s more of a statement than a question.

“With who?” I respond, looking at him blankly.

“With me,” he answers, his tone harshening.

“I think it’s time for the coffee,” I say, looking around in a panic. “And the desserts must be on their way.”

He grabs my hand and squeezes it. “Coffee and dessert can wait. Let’s dance.”

  Oh shit.

He’s still gripping my hand as he stands up and I hate myself for getting up, but I do.

I’m cursing this man as he drags me to the dance floor and then turns around with a skeevy smile on his leathery lips.

“I love Mariah Carey,” he says as he puts his hands on my hips. I’m standing as far from him as I can, barely touching his dandruff dusted shoulders with the tips of my fingers. “Don’t you?”

“She’s great,” I say, wishing that this song I supposedly love is over. Quickly.

I keep my eyes on the ceiling, on the floor, on the other dancers around us—anywhere but on him.

“I like you, Carrie,” he says as he stares into my averted eyes. “I’d like to give you a promotion.”

This gets my attention and I look at him for the first time.

“In exchange for what?” I ask, looking at him skeptically. My sales numbers at work have been shit and I haven’t exactly been the model employee today.

“I like your style,” he says. “I’d like you to be my personal assistant.”

  “Like your secretary?”

“No, I have one of those. This is more… personal. You’d be working in my office along with me. You’d be at my beck and call. We’d have a… special relationship that wouldn’t always be focused on work.”

“Ugh!” I say with a look of disgust as I step back from him.

“Can I cut in?” a deep masculine voice asks from behind me.

“Yes!” I say, practically jumping into Eli’s arms.

“Excuse me!” Mr. Miller shouts as his face turns an angry red. “We were dancing!”

He reaches for me, but Eli slaps his hand away. “And now it’s over. Go sit down. Now.”

I have to fight back my grin as Mr. Miller drops his head and sheepishly shuffles back to the table with his tail between his legs. Even a powerful man like him isn’t about to go head to head with Eli when he has that territorial look in his eyes.

“Thank you,” I say with a breath of relief. “You have no idea what that man was about to ask me.”

His eyes darken and I shift a little closer to his flexed body. “What was it?” he asks, looking like he’s about to punch out my boss in front of everyone.

“It doesn’t matter,” I say as I wrap my arms around his neck and breathe in his intoxicating cologne. “Just thank you for saving me.”

His strong arms are wrapped around me, his clasped hands resting dangerously close to the top of my ass. I don’t mind his hands on me as we sway to the music and stare into each other’s eyes.

“I’ve been kicking myself all day with the foolish way I’ve been acting around you,” he says. His gorgeous dark brown eyes are locked onto mine, making me tingle all over.

“I thought it was kinda cute,” I say as I smile at him. “Like a little kid with a grade school crush.”

I start to blush when I realize what I said. Maybe I’m being too forward.

“Not that you have a crush on me…”

“I do,” he says with a firm unwavering voice. “I’m already obsessed with you, Carrie. Is that crazy?”

“There can’t be love without a little bit of crazy,” I say. “Not that we’re there yet.”

“Right,” he says as he looks down at me with his smoldering eyes. “Not that we’re there. Yet.”

He looks like he’s already there with that heated gaze burning into me. We just hold onto each other for a little bit as the music plays. Everything else—the other guests in the hall, my asshole boss, the staff—it all fades away u
ntil it’s just the two of us dancing to the music.

“So, how do you act when you’re not a fool in love?” I ask him with a grin.

  “I’m actually good at sports.”

  I snort out a laugh.

“It’s true!” he says. “But golf is not a real sport unless you’re over sixty years old.”

  “What do you play?”

“Anything with water. Water polo, surfing, white water rafting—”

  “Pond wading?”

“Exactly.” Our smiles turn into laughs as we stare into each other’s eyes. “Chasing after you today has felt like a sport.”

“One more you’re not really good at,” I say with a grin. “Perhaps if I was in water…”

“I can get you into the shower if you prefer.”

“I’m more of a bath girl.”

His big chest rises with a couple of heavy breaths. No doubt, he’s picturing me naked in a bathtub right now. I stay silent for a bit to let him enjoy the image.

“Who is that guy?” he says, glancing at my table. My boss is watching us, looking pissed.

“My asshole boss,” I say, not wanting to ruin the moment by talking about him. “I’ve been there for two months and he’s already wanting to move me into his office.”

“If you worked for me, I’d want to move you into my office too.”

“If I worked for you, I just might agree.”

The air thickens around us as our heated gazes get a little hotter.

“What’s your deal?” I ask him. “Why are you here if you hate golf so much?”

He tells me about his family company and how he’s trying to save a huge deal that his brother fucked up. I’m laughing my ass off when he tells me how his brother Nolan got caught doing naughty things with his girlfriend on the hood of an antique car.

“And that’s Mr. Brown?” I ask. “Geez, he doesn’t look like a billionaire.”

“Well, he is,” he says with a shake of his head. “A very uptight billionaire.”

The music changes to something more upbeat and people flood onto the dance floor, throwing their hands and feet around like they’re deadly weapons. Meanwhile, we’re still gripping onto each other, not wanting this moment to end.

Time melts away as we talk and get to know each other. He constantly has me smiling and laughing, and I’m having the same effect on him.

This man is smooth. Very different from the lovestruck fool I saw on the golf course earlier. I guess all it took was a change from his Polo into his suit to find his real game.

“I want to see you again,” he says with his dark eyes brimming with intensity. “I need to see you again.”

“I’d like that,” I whisper as I lick my lips. “This has been fun, Callaway.”

“The night is not over yet.”

“It might be,” I say with a gulp as I glance over at my boss. Mr. Miller is standing up from the table and glaring at me. I’m guessing that my dance with Eli is ruining the narrative he set up with his friends of him being my sugar daddy. I think I’m embarrassing him.

  Good. Fuck him.

“My boss is coming,” I say as he starts making his way over here. “I don’t think he likes me dancing with you.”

“If he touches you, I’m knocking him out.”

Eli’s body gets all flexed and rigid, and my heart starts thumping away when I feel how hard he is under this sexy suit.

“Come,” I say as I grip his thick wrist and pull him away. “Let’s go for a walk.”

He glances at Mr. Miller with his jaw clenched and then looks back at me. “All right.”

This man looks like he really wants to put my boss in his place, but I’m guessing he’s thinking what I am—that spending the night together would be much more fun than spending it explaining to police officers why there’s an unconscious seventy-year-old man lying on the ground.

I’m holding onto his wrist as we rush out of the hall. “Hold on!” I say as I make a detour by the bar. I grab a bottle of wine off it and then we’re running outside into the cool night air where anything is possible.

  Chapter Seven

  Eli

“I wasn’t that embarrassing,” I say as I hand the wine bottle to Carrie. Our hands touch for a long second and it sends a jolt of something rocketing through me. “You asked to see my balls.”

“No.” I watch her pink lips wrap around the bottle as she takes a sip. “I asked you what your balls look like.”

We both laugh as we walk along the eighteenth hole, side by side under the bright light of the moon. It’s quiet out here with only the soft sound of the music from the party wafting on the warm breeze. It’s a gorgeous night and Carrie’s shining blue eyes and flushed cheeks are making it even more spectacular.

I’m falling for this girl. Big time.

It’s making me realize that I’ve never felt this way about a girl before. I don’t know why she’s been having such an intense effect on me, but her hooks are in and I’m not going anywhere. She’s mine and I’m going to be hers.

It might be fate or two soul mates recognizing each other for the first time, but whatever it is, it’s definitely been love at first sight.

I slide my hand into hers and she tangles her fingers into mine. This night has been perfect.

  “What’s your puppy’s name?” I ask her.

Her shocked eyes dart over to mine.

“I heard you talking about it.”

“Were you eavesdropping on my conversation?”

“Yes,” I blurt out unabashedly. “I’ve been stalking you all day.”

She smiles as she hands me the wine bottle. I look at the glass rim, knowing her sweet lips were just on it. I suck in a breath as I put my lips to it, hoping to taste her sweetness, but only tasting the wine.

“His name is Chester.” She starts to get emotional as she tells me about his dire health problems. I feel a fierce need to wrap my arms around her, so I do.

She melts into my embrace as she looks up at me with watery eyes. “I know it’s stupid. He’s just a dog.”

“It’s not stupid at all,” I tell her. “I love that you have a motherly instinct.”

“Oh, yeah?” she asks with a laugh as she wipes her eyes. “Why?”

“Because you’re going to be the mother of my children.”

“Oh, really?” she says with a laugh. “Just like that?”

  “Just like that.”

“You already decided it after one walk?”

“I decided it after one look at you. I want you to be mine forever, Carrie. I want you to have my children.”

She takes the wine bottle back from me and takes a long gulp as she watches the seriousness in my eyes.

“I’ve never met another man like you,” she says as she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.

“And I’ve never met anyone like you. You’re perfect for me.”

“But are you perfect for me?” she asks as she raises an eyebrow. “That’s the question.”

  “And here’s the answer.”

I grab her arms in a possessive grip and plant my lips against hers. Her body tightens with shock at first but then disintegrates in my hands as she opens her mouth and lets my tongue slide in. She kisses me back with all the frenzied emotions that I’m feeling for her. My hands slide around her back. Her’s slide into my hair. Our bodies are pressed against each other, my cock hardening like never before.

I love this girl. She moans against my parted lips when we finally pull away, her hand gripping my tie.

“That was pretty perfect,” she admits as her sparkling eyes get a faraway look.

“Meant to be,” I whisper as I stare at her in disbelief. “Love at first sight.”

She looks up at me for a long heated moment and then takes another long sip of the wine.

“Come,” she says as she slides her hand into mine.

I follow her as if in a trance as she brings me to the putting green on the seventeenth hole. It’s d
ark here with nobody around. We have the place to ourselves with only the foxes and raccoons in the forest to know what we’re up to.

The wine bottle is half done as we sit down on the cool soft grass, facing each other.

“You look so beautiful in the moonlight,” I tell her. Her blonde hair is shining like silver as she watches me with the same lustful look I’ve been dreaming about all day. “You are stunning.”

“Thank you,” she whispers as her cheeks start to blush an adorable pink. “Stunning enough to get another one of those kisses?”

The next second, we’re practically on top of each other, grabbing handfuls of hair and running hands over each other’s bodies as we kiss with a passion that’s been building to a boiling point all day. She whimpers as I thrust my tongue into her mouth, tasting her sweetness and devouring her mouth in a lust-fueled frenzy.

She unbuttons a couple of buttons on my shirt and slides her hand in as I tilt her head up and kiss her harder. I groan against her silky tongue as I feel her palm running along my hard abs to my ribs.

“I want you,” I whisper between heavy kisses. I’m so hard. My cock is aching with the need to be buried inside this girl’s wet cunt.

“I want you too,” she whispers back. Our mouths pull apart and I look down at her face as my heart pounds and my chest heaves up and down. Her mouth is all red from my stubble, but she looks sexier than ever as she looks up at me with a fiery need in her eyes.

“Here?” I ask as I look down at her cleavage. Her tits look incredible in this dress. Every part of her looks incredible in this dress, but I still want to rip it to shreds.

  She nods. “Here.”

I lean over her and she lies down on the grass, those big tits rising and falling with every sensual breath. I slide my hand onto one of them and her eyes fall closed as I grip it.

“Fuck,” I groan as I press my hard cock against her leg. “You’re too perfect.”

“You might not be saying that in a minute,” she whispers as I slide my hand up her dress. “I’m a virgin.”
