“Maybe we’ll meet again on another trip.” Myrtle released the warm embrace, and Coco’s eyes visibly relaxed.
“Or even plan one together,” Sadie suggested. “I’m sure we could find a little vacation mischief to get into somewhere else.”
“Or mystery,” Myrtle pointed out. “It seems to be in abundant supply.”
“Yes.” Sadie laughed. She could hardly step outside her penthouse without falling into some sort of puzzling situation. Myrtle’s life clearly followed a similar path.
“Until the next adventure then,” Myrtle said.
“Yes,” Sadie replied. “Until the next adventure.”
Surf ‘N Strawberry Sorbet
*No ice-cream machine needed!
Ingredients
1 pound fresh strawberries
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Directions
1. Heat water and sugar in a saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool.
2. Chop or puree strawberries in a food processor or blender. Add other ingredients and blend.
3. Pour into a shallow, freezer-safe container and place in the freezer.
4. Remove sorbet from freezer approximately every 30-40 minutes and stir, breaking up frozen chunks and smoothing mixture back out.
5. Return to the freezer and repeat several times until mixture is complete frozen.
6. When ready to serve, let thaw 5-10 minutes to soften. *Note: Adding two tablespoons of vodka will help keep it soft, since alcohol doesn’t freeze.
*Substitute other fruit for different flavors!
