Lonely Vampire Prince

I sit beside the statue. “She was a shadow when she came here.”
“The fairy princess should be our brightest light.” Another sniff.
Fuck me. It’s true.
“Wait a second, Sevile. I was told by the dark fae who cursed the crowns that you and the princess can wear either crown without turning into stones.”
“I remember,” I said.
“So what happened?”
“I don’t know.”
“I will put the fae on my To Torture list,” she says.
“That’s reassuring. Thank you, Mom.”
I hang up and put the phone on the nightstand. A flick of my finger pops the cane’s skull top. Inside is a tiny vial filled with yellow fairy dust I scooped from the floor the moment we crossed into our realm and Maya’s wings disappeared. I rub some dust on my lips, then rest my palms on either side of the princess’s head and lean in. I touch my lips against the cold stone of her cheek and whisper because I know she can’t hear me. “I love you.”
Maya
In the stone body, I live in a pitch-black world. My fairy heart beats strong and steady. Somehow, I’m breathing, my chest moving up and down, though I don’t understand how since I’m a statue. Dark fae magic is nearly always fatal, so this spell was carefully woven not to induce death. I recall the creepy statues in the hallways. They’re alive, yet unable to keep company but for their own thoughts. They will live out their lives in complete silence. It’s horrible.
I shouldn’t have grabbed the crown. Damn me. And damn Sevile for hiding my wings. He’ll probably put me somewhere in his court like a decoration. Maybe even next to his throne, so that every vampire and every fairy who ventures inside his lair knows he turned his bride into a statue for refusing his claim. The prince hadn’t forgiven or forgotten, or he’d have told me about the cursed crown before bringing me into his lair.
Something brushes against my lips. “Hello!” I shout, but no sound comes out. I can’t open my mouth yet, but my lips move. I rub them together. Something soft touches my lips again, and I lick it for a taste. It’s…dust. I lick as if my life depends on it, knowing light fae magic neutralizes dark magic and the other way around. I test and open my mouth, move my jaw. “Hello.” My voice comes out hoarse, and my throat constricts. I swallow.
The stone around my eyes disappears next, and I blink through the haze. My vision clears, and I take in the dimly lit room. I’m standing in front of the prince, who sits on the edge of his bed, an unreadable expression on his face. Between his fingertips, he rolls a vial filled with fairy dust. He unscrews the vial and sprinkles dust on his left palm, then puts the vial on the nightstand. My eyes are glued to the dust.
“The question is,” Sevile says, “sweet princess, what do you plan to do when you get your wings?” He bends and rubs my ankles first, and after the stone turns into sand and litters the floor, the prince lingers on my bare ankles, then looks up, eyebrow lifted.
I plan to experience life as a human woman. “Go shopping.”
“I see.” He repeats the process with the vial and massages from my ankles to my knees. “What is it that you desire most?”
The crown. His skilled hands massage my thighs, and I can barely concentrate on our conversation. “Freedom.”
Surprise registers on his face. Perhaps he didn’t expect honesty. I didn’t have a reason to lie. “If you won’t free me, leave me in this state. I would rather not see, feel, or hear than be forced to observe life from afar.” I glance at the windows.
Sevile pauses.
Oh my fairy, he’s gonna leave me half statue, half flesh.
I push on because my life depends on this fairy dust. “I won’t return to Rornia with or without my wings.”
“After I finish off your stepmother and anyone else who gets in my way, you can reclaim your throne.”
The last thing I want is to rule Rornia. “I don’t want the throne. I used to want the throne, but the fairies have changed, have become greedy and two-faced, insensitive and almost evil. I’m staying in this realm. I want to experience some of the things I’ve read about.” The stone around my thighs disappears, and my legs are free. I wiggle my toes.
When his thumb brushes my mound and destroys the stone, and when he slides his skilled finger under my panties and between my legs, I spread them. He chuckles, then rubs my opening slowly until his fingers come away wet. From beside him, he picks up something shiny and shakes it. It’s a clamp with a tiny bell at the end. The bell jingles.
“Cute bell,” I say, and immediately, I want it. It’s crystal and reflects the light, therefore it’s a sparkly. I sigh, thinking I’ll have to learn to control this impulse.
“Mm-hm. A special kind of bell.” Sevile pushes my underwear to my knees. He rubs my bud at first, but then licks it, and I moan, whining about not being able to press my hands on his shoulders. He flicks my bud and rolls it between his lips before he pulls back the skin and clamps the base of my clit.
Oh dear. I swallow. The clamp presses into my skin, and the bell rests over my bud. It’s not painful, but not pleasant either.
The prince flicks the bell, and his fingers play over my wet entrance. I gush some more. Palms coated in fairy dust, he flicks my nipples, then grips my ass. He pulls me closer, between his legs, and his wicked tongue licks my left nipple. In response, it perks up for him. The prince nods in approval and sucks my other nipple while massaging my bottom and occasionally dipping his long fingers between my ass cheeks, where he finds my back hole. I want to push up against his mouth but I can’t move my upper body.
Sevile sets me back down.
“Don’t stop,” I say.
“I wasn’t planning to.” He clamps small white bells on both my nipples and flicks them with his tongue. “In human lore, it is said that when a bell rings, an angel receives her wings. Are you going to be my angel?”
The prince is cruel and kind. Cruel for taking my wings and kind when he touches me. I don’t know what to say, so I say nothing. When unsure, it’s always best not to say anything. My dad told me misfortune comes to those who say too much. Those who say nothing appear without an opinion and are often most successful because they listen instead of yap.
Sevile frees my upper body, moving onto the stone left on my face. He cups my cheeks. “You will give me what was promised to me, and I will allow you to leave this very night.” He grips my ass and pulls. I straddle him, his hard length on my entrance. The bells jiggle as he slides my slick entrance up and down over his length and when he finally rubs dust on my arms, I grip his shoulders and dig my claws into them. The scent of blood from his shoulder wounds mixes with our arousal.
The prince hisses, and his fangs drop. “I don’t like your silence,” he says, blue eyes locked with mine. “Do you feel nothing for me?” He grips my hips, my opening hovering over the tip of his cock.
“I don’t know.” I press my lips to his. “Is it going to hurt?” I whisper.
“It should.” The red bleeds into his eyes. I dig my claws into his shoulders again, and he hisses a warning. “If you keep that up, I will not be gentle.” Slowly, he pushes down on my hips, and the head of his cock breaks my virginal barrier. I gasp, then pinch my lips as he lowers me onto him some more, then back up so he can slide me up and down, stuffing me with his cock deeper and deeper each time. I kiss him, wanting a taste of his mouth, and he lets me explore it while he cups my breast. He squeezes and thumbs the bells, the pleasant pain making my body burn. When he slides me down all the way to his groin, I wiggle, unsure if it hurts or feels great.
Sevile growls. His kissing becomes urgent, and then he’s spanking me, moving me up and down on him until I find my own rhythm. His hand is in my hair, and he fists it. My breasts bounce, and he sticks his tongue out to catch my nipple every time I move. I’m moaning loudly, my belly feels full, my pussy is fluttering around his dick. Pleasure makes me shiver, and when he releases the clipped bells from my nipples, then my clit, I scream.
>
The prince still moves me up and down, seeking his release. Cum fills me shortly after, and Sevile lies back, taking me with him.
We’re still joined, my cheek resting on his chest. It is then that I feel the dust seep through my skin and fill my body with magic. Sevile rubs the empty place where my wings should be, and his touch burns. It’s uncomfortable, and I sit up, wincing.
Sevile moves me to the side and clears his throat. He doesn’t look at me when he says, “You have your wings. On your way out, take anything you want. I hope it brings you more happiness than it has brought me.”
He removes the ring from his pinky and places it in my palm.
And then he’s gone.
Chapter Seven
Sevile
Curious vampires clear out of my way, but none ask me anything. Must be the permasnarl I’m sporting as I take the steps two at a time, then speed past them faster than the human eye can follow. I arrive in my office, and the door slams behind me, rattling the hinges. At my desk, I get a tablet and sift through the trackers. There. I open a window. A screen with a blue dot appears. I zoom in.
The princess is still in our bedroom.
She’s wearing her ring, the one with a tracker. I can’t let her fly out of here and into the world without following her. It’s not in my blood. She’s my mate, and I intend to have her. But I also can’t keep her prisoner. My mother was right when she said Maya would become sad if she didn’t experience things she wanted. I wanted her happy, and more importantly, I wanted us happy together. This one-sided mating thing is a fucking bitch. My father mated a human woman who got into a car accident shortly after his marking bite. He walked into hell and asked for a demon soul to fill his human mate. Lucifer accepted. My dad never told me what he lost that day, but it must’ve been something. Deals with Lucifer are the worst.
I’m still unsure if I’ll allow Maya to leave the court, but by telling her that, I’d given her hope. I saw the hope in the twinkle of her eyes as her magic ignited at the thought of exploring whatever it is human women do with their time.
The office phone rings, and I pick up.
My secretary says, “Good morning, Prince Sevile. I have Dirty on the line.”
“Put him through.”
“Sevile, this is Dirty. Sniffed out a portal. I’m at Snarl.”
“I can’t meet you right now.” I scrub my face. I asked the local werewolf pack to look out for portals as they made their runs through the woods. Now that my princess has come through one, I need to seal it so she can never return. Though since she said she wanted to stay in the human realm, there are no guarantees. Better be safe than sorry.
“That’s fine. We scented a…fuck, I don’t know, man. Sweet, and I mean sugar-sweet-smelling supe. I asked around, and nobody knows what it is.”
“How old is the scent?”
“Fresh. What is it? I know you know, Sevile.”
The wolves are locals and the pack has doubled in size since Pryus killed an alpha over in Malibu and took over. One never knows when alliance will be necessary, and plus they have a powerful demon on their side. Besides, wolves are stronger than humans and loyal once committed to a person. Hm. I drum my fingers on the desk. Decisions, decisions. “I’m on my way.”
Maya
Dressed in a pretty pink sundress I dug up from the floral-decorated box sitting in the back of Sevile’s enormous closet, I stand with my back reflecting in the mirror. As I wait for my wings to return, I fist my bridal veil and bring it up to my nose. It smells old. It has probably been sitting in that box for nine years.
My fairy heart flutters at the thought of the prince’s hands and his mouth and the wicked vampire kiss which he never bestowed upon me. I frown as tears pool in my eyes and will the prince out of my head. I’m a free fairy, and I’m going out.
Above the mirror, the clock’s big hand hits twelve.
Purple fairy wings sprout on my back.
They flutter.
I squeal and twirl in front of the mirror. My wings are paper-thin and span the length of my back. They end in sharp tips and are striped with a golden-yellow sheen. The yellow glitters in the bright light. I hover above the ground and force a smile on my face, but for some strange reason, a tear escapes and trails down my face. Finally, I’ve got everything I wanted. The freedom from my stepmother, my magic, wings for glamour to blend into the human realm, and I even found jewels in the box. I could sell those for a lot of money and start a life on my own. Everything I ever wanted, I have. What more could a girl ask for?
The answer hits me, and I gasp. My grandmother said so when she made the portal. A fairy heart seeks one true love. I think it means I went after Sevile and not after my wings. The truth is ridiculous, yet not untrue. I should’ve seen him as my one love sooner, but I didn’t want to forgive him. With my wings back, I can forgive.
Everyone does stupid things when young, and I met Sevile when he was twenty and I sixteen. In my mind, he attacked me, but in his, he promised me love and support. What a terrible misunderstanding to have stretched for so many years. I have to wonder if the Queen made portals illegal because she never wanted me to find out about the mating.
I fix my old veil on my head. Sevile kept the small things that reminded him of me. I kept nothing of his. In fact, I tried to forget my wedding day altogether. Both of us paid a hard price in the years of separation and loneliness. We deserve a new beginning. I don’t have to shop alone. I can still do what human women do and stay with the prince. “I’m a princess again.” Granted, not of the fairy court, but a princess nonetheless.
I fold my wings, then shake them. Dust particles rain over my body. I grab the pillowcase I filled with jewelry from the box and open the door.
A man appears, and I jump away. He’s middle-aged with black hair, dark brown eyes, and a powerful body hidden behind a dark suit, a black tie, and a funny black hat. He wears white gloves. Is he human? I believe so. I’ve never stood so close to a human man before. I pinch his cheek and make it rosy.
He clears his throat. “My princess, are you ready?”
He calls me a princess! I beam at him. This only makes his cheeks rosier. I believe he’s blushing, and I like this man. “Who are you?” I ask.
“Konan. Queen Earleen’s driver.”
He will take me anywhere I want to go. “I like that Sevile thought about sending you. But I’m not going anywhere yet.”
I hand him the pillowcase filled with jewelry. “I would like those delivered to Ms. Orelia. I’m trying to do the right thing.”
“Of course.”
Parting from the jewels is painful, but a princess can’t steal from the servants, and if she steals, she makes amends. “Do you know where Sevile is?”
“In his office.”
“Good. I know where that is.” I round the nice man and pause near the stairs next to the statue of a woman, her mouth forever frozen in horror. I brush my wing over her arm and hear the trickle of sand hitting the marble as I hop on the rail, slide on the spiral railing down several stories, land with my bare feet on the ground, rush past the group of red-eyed vampires, and enter Sevile’s office, a big smile on my face. “I have decided…” I’m speaking to his plants. “Sevile?” He’s not here. I spin around and look for Orelia but catch Salvatore’s eye as he heads out. He waves. I wave back and rush to catch up with him.
“Hey,” I say and jog next to him as he man-walks with long strides. “Have you seen Sevile?”
“Mm-hm.”
“Where?” We pass the long tunnel and emerge at the castle’s entrance. The mist around us is magic, concealing our presence from the humans. The humans don’t know we exist, and they mustn’t. Every supe from every realm agrees on that. Salvatore points below at the cabin with the only bright parking lot. “At Snarl.”
I thank him and unfurl my wings, readying to hop off.
He grips my elbow. “Where to?”
I hiss and show him my teeth, magic slithering down my arms.
It burns his hand, and he winces, then lets go. “Wherever I please.”
Salvatore shakes his head. “Konan will take you.”
I hop off the rail. “I have wings.” I bat my wings with fury before the angry vampire jumps and tries taking me down. The forest is dense, and it’s nighttime. If anyone sees me, I’ll appear as a figment of their imagination as I speed toward the lit cabin and land behind it in the dark. Fairy dust falls over me and shimmers. Glamour in place, I walk around to the front and palm the door handle. I pause and read the sign. We are hiring.
I could have a job, like a human woman. As I walk in, I swipe the sign, tuck it under my armpit, find the bar, and sit on a tall, uncomfortable chair. Snarl is a bar, a dimly lit, cozy, small place with a few tables and other weird things I can’t identify. The music doesn’t make me want to dance. It’s not the hopping kind from Sevile’s party. This music uses a lot of string instruments, and the man’s voice sounds pained.
Behind the bar, there’s so much alcohol, I can’t even make a decision on which one to drink first. A girl with her red hair pulled up and a bump on her belly approaches. “Hi, I’m Amy. What can I get for you?” She tilts her head and frowns at the same time as I get a headache.
“Oh.” I press the heel of my hand to my forehead. “Better have only water.” As soon as I say it, the headache subsides. It’s still there, but not as potent.
Amy puts a glass of water in front of me and rests her hands on the bar, her gaze on the sign I tucked under my armpit. I put the sign on the bar. “I’d like a job, please.”
She smiles. “We are interviewing for a bartender.” She rubs her belly. “I’ll need a replacement.”
“I’m your girl.” I point at my chest and nod.
She looks skeptical. “And you’ve bartended before?”
“Nope. But I love alcohol.” I sip my water, feeling better already, my headache now gone.
Amy bursts out in laughter. “This is priceless. You’re hired.”
“Are you serious?”
“Mm-hm. Listen, Sevile’s in the back.” She points behind the bar.
