I whisper in his ear, my hand touching his muscles through his t-shirt.

  ‘Hmm...’

He breathes when my fingers graze the waistband of his shorts, touching the soft skin under his belly button: he’s starting to react to my touch and I push my body closer to his.

‘Princess... The other night we didn’t get to finish our conversation and...’

  ‘And?’

I ask taking his hand and placing it on my boob.

He touches me for a few seconds but then his hand clutches my chin ever so gently and his jade green eyes stare straight into mine.

‘Clary, I love you. I don’t know how things will be between us, if you’ll even want me but I do love you. So, let’s slow down, like you asked. Let’s talk often, let’s go out together... While I’m in San Diego, I am not that far and I will drive to see you. Maybe I can take you home to meet nana Helen too... Look, in the meantime, I will figure out what’s next for me but I want to see if there’s a future where we can be together. I know there’s the others too but I also know that I want you in my life, so I’ll have to really try this time. But let’s do it slowly, which means not getting naked now...’

I am embarrassed: he’s right. That’s exactly why I asked him to slow down: when he’s near me, I lose all control, I’m a mess of wants and needs and then I end up finding myself out of my element very quickly when Austin’s lust and experience meet my desire for him.

‘Ok. Yes. Let’s slow down but let’s talk a lot and I’ll find a way to see you. I will have to make sure I get around my parents’ strict supervision but I’ll be 17 soon, hopefully I’ll be able to get a bit more freedom. I love you, Austin.’

We kiss again and this is how the others find us when they return from their packing.

This is the end of the best summer of my life so far.

If you want to know what happens to me and my boys check out:

Emerald Lake Chronicles: A winter tale.

This will be the second book of the Emerald Lake Chronicles and it will be out soon.

  Acknowledgements

Writing this book has been fun and most of all, all consuming: I kept thinking about what Clary or the boys would say and do, how Brie would react to a certain situation.

They have been my first thought in the morning and my last thought at night.

This is why the first person I want to thank is my husband Daniel, who has been patient and supportive and has listened to my reveries about Summer Camp.

Also I would like to extend my special thanks to Hanna and Ulrike who have read me, critiqued me and suffered through my beta version, having conversations about Clary and the boys as if they were real.

Mostly I hope that you will enjoy reading this as much as I have enjoyed writing it and will leave a review.

Thanks and see you soon for book two.
