GOODWILL AND SALVATION ARMY STORES
WWW.GOODWILL.ORG www.salvationarmy.org
If you need a table or handbag or jacket or shoes and you’re prepared to add a little pizzazz to them, or looking for a chair to spruce up and paint, this is the place to go. The money goes to a good cause, and it’s fun to recycle something. Check out these places before you head off to a furniture or clothing store for something brand new.
GROCERY STORE
I know this is obvious, but I like to be thorough.
THE HOME DEPOT www.homedepot.com
You can get anything here, from lamp-making parts to lumber. It’s a great place to roam around and get inspired.
LUMIERE PAINTS www.jacquardproducts.com
The Lumiere paints are my favorites. They are water-base acrylics, metallic, have tons of pigment (and come in gorgeous colors), and apply beautifully.
JOANN FABRICS www.joann.com
Terrific national fabric chain with wonderful remnants at great prices. They carry every sewing notion and most paper and craft supplies you could ever need!
KRYLON www.krylon.com
Krylon products are available everywhere. They truly are the best paints and spray paints around. They dry easily and make a great finish. Krylon has everything you can imagine—plus a few things you probably never imagined—from frosted-glass paint to reflective paint to make-your-own-mirrors. Their Glitter Blast paint has been a crafting sensation and their metallic paints are absolutely top-notch!
LOWE’S www.lowes.com
It’s a joy to shop at Lowe’s. It’s organized, the staff is knowledgeable, and you can find just about anything you need there for your projects, plus ideas for more.
MINWAX www.minwax.com
You know I love these products. They are quality products for all your woodworking needs. I can’t get through a craft project without the Polycrylic clear coat as a finish. Even when it’s not made of wood. Shhhh! I discovered something amazing recently. If you spray-paint something and it remains tacky, spray it with the Minwax Clear Aerosol Lacquer and the problem is gone as soon as it dries.
ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY www.orientaltrading.com
More than twenty-five thousand fun products for every occasion! Great online resource for craft supplies. If you can’t find something, try this site.
PEARL RIVER www.pearlriver.com
The perfect place for all your Asian craft materials, from lanterns to fabrics. If you are going for an Asian theme, start by checking out this site. They ship everywhere, and the prices are great!
SKIL www.skil.com
These are the only power tools I use for my projects. They are of a good quality, fairly priced, and powerful. The sanders are my favorite because you can handle them easily, and the drills are fantastic. I promise you will be happy with any Skil tool you purchase.
SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS www.swarovski.com
If you want to kick your projects up a notch and use the world’s BEST crystals, check out Swarovski! Every project in this book will look even more amazing if you add a little Swarovski. Trust me on this! They can be pricey, but for a piece of jewelry you want to wear for years to come, I think it’s worth the investment.
TRASH BIN
I believe that we have to recycle as much as we can, so why not start by using what we discard to make our projects? Cans and tins, boxes, yogurt cups, plastic soda bottles—they are all perfect starts to many projects.
Beautiful antique brass, copper and silver stampings. Butterflies, birds, bees, crowns—you name it, they have something that will fit your taste.
