“I don’t know,” Del answered him honestly.
“Have you thought about it?”
“Not really and then again yes.”
“When? More so in the last few weeks? I’ve seen the way you are with her, remember?”
“Yes, I have being thinking about that for the last week or so. Does that really matter? I don’t think that it does, but if you have other information about it. I would appreciate an update.”
“Cut that shit out first of all. You have a good head on your shoulders, Del. USE IT. Don’t sit back and waste your time with her. It is obvious that she likes you. Explore that. Learn from it. You never know. She might actually decide to stay with you when this is all over.”
“I highly doubt that.”
“Do you?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well, I don’t know what to tell you then. You seem pretty sure of that. I’m sorry, Del. I’ve never helped you find your emotional side. I apologize for that. I made you suppress it for so long that I don’t know if you even know how to pull down your walls and live out loud. It made you one of the best, but it also made you one of the worst,” he told her.
“Care to explain that further?”
“Not really, I don’t.”
“Well, I need to go. We should be heading out soon. If something comes up, I call you.”
“Del?”
“Yeah?”
“Tell Angie that next time she wants to use your computer that she doesn’t have to pretend to be you. She can create her own nickname or something for our chats. I am not afraid to talk to her if she needs someone besides you to talk to. You know someone who will actually talk back to her and treat her like the beautiful woman and human being that she is.”
“Goodbye, Cole,” Del stated in response and hung up the phone.
She didn’t want to know why Cole knew it wasn’t her in the chat. She analyzed the conversation again and then stared at Angie across the table. Her defenses were up and she knew it. Angie had violated her trust, her personal space, and now her conversations with her mentor. She didn’t know what to do or say to her. She wanted to yell at her but she knew that it wouldn’t do any good. Angie had a mind of her own. And, Del knew that she had a stunted emotional capacity, but there was just something about Angie that pushed her to try harder…emotionally.
“What did he say?” Angie asked when she couldn’t take the silence anymore.
“He told me to get you your own screen name. He knew that it was you and not me. Don’t ask me how or why, but he did. It’s Cole. I learned years ago not to question him.”
“He knew it was me?”
“He said that he did.”
“But, how? Why didn’t he say something? I’m…just…wow. He did?”
“Yeah, he did.”
“I’m sorry. I was bored. I didn’t mean to cause you any trouble.”
“You didn’t.”
“Are you mad at me?”
“I should be, but for some reason, I can’t. Don’t ask me why I can’t, Angie. I have no fucking clue.”
“Would it help if I told you that I was sorry, again?” Angie asked her.
“It doesn’t matter, now, Angie. What is done, is done. I cannot change it.”
Angie stood up from the table. She began pacing. She didn’t want Del to be mad at her, but then again, she did. It would make the awkward situation easier to deal with. Del just watched, still unsure of what to do. Angie came into her personal space. Del pushed the chair back from the table as Angie came between her legs.
When Del didn’t physically push her away, Angie got bolder. She stepped closer. Del understood that the moment was there, but she wondered if she could actually take it.
“Would you just yell at me or something?” Angie asked her staring deep into her eyes.
She wanted Del to react. She wanted Del to do something. She needed Del to have some sort of emotional response so that she could placate her own mind. She needed it even she didn’t understand it. She stared deeper into her eyes and waited.
“There is no need to yell at you, Angie. You were curious. You wanted to talk to someone else besides me. I understand that. I will set you up an account on the laptop if you wish. I’ll even make you a screen name so that you can talk to Cole about me, if you wish,” she told her as a smile started to creep across her face.
Del may not have understood the complexity of emotions, but she understood the basics. She teased Angie as much as Angie teased her. It was a game that they played, even if they both didn’t understand the rules. It was how they coped together. But, they respected each other enough not to push things further. It was a song and dance and they both knew it.
But, sometimes things push people over the edge, and for Del, this was one of those times. She didn’t know what possessed her, but for once, she went with it. She didn’t think. She just did.
Angie was surprised when Del leaned forward just enough to grab her ass. She pulled her into her front and leaned up from her sitting position, just enough, to kiss her. She liked having Angie on edge just as much as Angie kept her on edge. But, there was more…she was beginning to feel.
Chapter 24
She held her close. She wasn’t going to let go. Not this time, no, this time she was giving in to the thoughts and feelings in her heart. Del held onto her as they continued kiss.
She was losing herself in the feeling of Angie’s lips on hers. The softness and the sweetness of the taste kept her locked onto Angie. Her arms slid up from Angie’s ass to her waist. Her fingers dug into the tender flesh. She could feel the heat building between them. She couldn’t stop herself. She suddenly found herself wanting more.
Del’s body was melting into Angie’s. She was getting lost in the moment. She didn’t care.
Angie leaned further into her. The kiss was magnificent and unending. She couldn’t believe what was happening. She was perplexed by the turn of events, but she wasn’t complaining. She loved the feeling of Del’s lips on hers. Angie didn’t want Del to move so she wrapped her arms around her back and pulled Del further into her body. It was like she was trying to make them one person. Del must have understood her need and the want.
Her own desire was escalating higher and higher. She felt like she was on fire and she needed to quench her thirst. Angie was the only thing that her body and mind were craving. Del moved her hands up further, skidding up under Angie’s shirt. Her fingers explored the expanse of her back as she deepened the kiss, finally. As her tongue snuck into Angie’s mouth, Angie upped the ante.
Angie wasn’t going to let this moment become just Del’s alone. She was a part of it and she was bound and determined that she was going to be a willing participant. She tangled with Del’s tongue. Her hands were moving on their own accord. She needed to feel Del.
Finally, needing more and needing to breath, Del moved from her lips to her chin. She slowly crept up her jaw line to her earlobe. When Del’s mouth wrapped around the end of Angie’s ear, she couldn’t stifle the moan that escaped her mouth. Del smiled around the shell of her ear. She enjoyed hearing Angie’s gasps and moans in pleasure.
Her mind suddenly reared. She was getting lost in the pleasure of the moment. Her momentary loss of propriety was becoming more and more enjoyable. She didn’t care what the outcome would be as long as Angie kept making those sounds. She could forget herself and forget the mission while Angie was moaning in her ears.
Angie snaked her hand up Del’s body and tangled her fingers in her short hair as Del descended to the column of her throat. She breathed heavily at the contact. She was sure that her skin was on fire and it was only Del’s lips that could cure the burning sensation. She gripped her neck harder, holding her in place and enjoying the sensations that Del was giving her.
She didn’t know what possessed her. It was a need pure and raw and all consuming. Del had never felt like this with anyone, not even Yulia. She was so unguarded in the moment that she thought her he
art might burst. She didn’t know what it was about Angie that drove her to almost absolute madness, but she knew that she didn’t want to lose it either. It was frightening and exhilarating at the same time.
Angie didn’t care what her reasoning was. She had to admit to herself that she wanted Del in a way that she hadn’t wanted anyone since college. This wasn’t a fling in her mind. She could see a future with her and that scared her to the core. She was so wrapped up in her life in New York, and she wanted to be a lawyer. She wanted a future with Del, but she couldn’t see what it would be like. They were essentially on the run, living off of Del’s money, and hiding from the cartel. She didn’t want it to be like that once everything was over with, but she couldn’t see it working in New York. She couldn’t see Del settling down there with her. No matter how badly she wanted it, she just couldn’t see it.
Del moved down the column of her throat, kissing her way down to her collar bone. Angie moaned. She gave her a quick, sharp intake of breath, when Del jerked her t-shirt out of the way, exposing her alabaster shoulder. She couldn’t stop herself from digging her fingers deeper into Del’s back as she continued to moan.
It was unsettling what the sounds were doing to Del. She couldn’t stop herself. She knew that she should. Her brain was telling her it was wrong, but her fingers and mouth didn’t listen. They kept on touching Angie and before she realized what she had done. Angie’s t-shirt was on the table beside them. Del descended her front. Teeth and lips grazed over her perfect skin.
The trail of heat that Del was making down her front only made Angie want more. She could feel her desire pooling lower and her blood boiling at the thought of Del between her thighs. She wanted it, so desperately, that she almost willed it to happen. Finally the heat that her body was producing proved to be too much for her, being so close to Del, and she needed some relief. She tugged on the bottom of Del’s shirt and was reward with just enough movement that she could wrap her fingers around the hem and pull.
Del leaned back more when she realized what Angie was after. She never let her go, though, afraid that she would disappear and the moment would end. She stared into her azure depths and find her own desire reflected. It gave her enough to hold onto while Angie ripped her shirt from her body. They came back together in a heated breath. Skin to skin, they both let out a deep, emotional, but throaty moan.
“Del?” Angie asked when Del began to kiss her pulse point und lightly suck.
Del pulled up and stared at her. Questions filled her eyes and her brain was screaming at her to let Angie go, to walk away before she did something that they would both regret, but Angie didn’t let her go. She held onto her. She couldn’t let the connection go, but she knew that she needed to stop the delicious madness.
“Angie?”
“Del?”
Neither of them knew what to say. They didn’t know what to do. The line was becoming so blurry that neither of them knew if they had actually crossed it.
Del leaned back a little more, but it was only as far as Angie’s arms would allow her. She watched as Angie’s sapphire eyes watched her every move. The light from the window was giving Angie this beautiful halo and she could the slight highlights in her auburn hair. Del’s breath caught in her throat and the only thing that she could think of was how beautiful Angie was.
“Bel Amor…” she whispered.
Angie’s eyes widen at the statement. She knew that Del knew many languages, but she has only ever spoken Russian to her. It was amazing what the thought of Del speaking to her, in different languages, while she was holding her, did to her libido. Angie couldn’t control herself. She needed more. She wanted more. She pulled Del closer again, relishing the feeling of her skin against her own.
They just held each other for a few minutes, letting the heat between them build. They didn’t want to think about tomorrow. They didn’t want to think about later today. Right now, all they wanted was the moment together with no worries of the outside world. It was amazing to them both how when they were together like this, in the heat of the moment, caught up in each other, that world just melted away. There was nothing like it for either of them. They had nothing to compare it to. It was like they were destined for each other.
Del buried her head in Angie neck. She lost herself further in the delicate, sweet smell that was purely Angie. She couldn’t let her go. It was like Angie was holding her together. Del just knew that if something that broke the moment that she would shatter emotionally.
Angie must have sensed that Del was at her breaking point. She didn’t know how much longer she could hold on either. She wanted, no needed to throw Del on the bed and have her way with her, but she was afraid what that would do to her emotionally. She wasn’t ready to give up on everything for someone else. Sure, it was selfish but it was how she had gotten where she was today. She laughed inwardly at that though. Sure her selfishness was a survival technique in the big bad city and in the justice system, but it had put her right in the arms of Delia, too. She arched an eyebrow at the irony.
Just as quickly as before, Del kissed her mouth again. This time she didn’t hold back. She thrust her tongue inside and fought Angie for dominance. As their tongues dances, her hands slid around to Angie’s back and eventually landed on her ass. She went further and cupped it, pulling Angie as flush to her body as their bodies would allow. When she felt like they were close enough, she bit down slightly on her lower lip.
She could taste the tang of Angie on her lips and tongue, but still she wanted more. Her brain had given up on the fight, allowing her emotions to drive this crazy train of wantonness to the station. Angie didn’t object when Del squeezed her butt cheeks, instead she moaned into her ear. The sound and the rush of delicate air made her shudder.
The act caused Del to pull up slightly with hands, which brought Angie up off her feet some. If Del hadn’t holding her so tightly, she would have surely fallen. Sinking even further in Del, Angie gave in and decided to take everything that Del was willing to give her, even if it was just a release for the time being. She would deal with it and she would deal with Del when the awkwardness appeared later.
It was then that Del picked her up further. Angie used the movement to raise her legs and wrapped them around Del’s waist. She held the weight gracefully as she moved them away from the table. Del was afraid that she might drop them on the table. She didn’t want to be on something hard. She turned them towards the bed and as they kissed, Del walked them over towards the bed. She stopped right before her knees hit the mattress.
Angie kissed her. It wasn’t hard or a fight for dominance. It was a sweet and pure kiss. There was a hunger behind it that they both couldn’t deny. She moaned into the kiss and Del bit her lip, again. Angie moaned again. Del smiled into the kiss.
Suddenly, they were on the bed. Angie sunk into the mattress as her back hit it. Del was on top of her and she was enjoying the weight. Del looked into her eyes with her chestnut eyes as she molded her body to Angie’s again. The bed sagged under their weight, but they didn’t care as the bed creaked and moaned. They couldn’t keep their hands off each other. If it was going to happen, it was going to happen now. They were ready for it.
Suddenly there was knock at the door. Del pulled up and stared at it, wondering who was there. Then, there was another knock on the door.
“Housekeeping!”
“Shit,” Del stated as she scrambled off Angie, grabbed her shirt, and put it on. She reached over onto the table, grabbed her pistol and headed towards the door. She reached for the handle, just as there was another knock and another scream of “housekeeping,” from the other side.
“Just a second,” Del called back.
Chapter 25
They had been driving for hours down I 80 towards, well, Angie didn’t know where. She just knew that Del was upset. She was being quiet. She was just focused on the road. She wasn’t really looking at Angie and it was upsetting Angie. After everything, Angie didn’t know what she wa
s thinking. She didn’t know what to say.
Del just kept driving. She honestly didn’t know where she was going. She was just driving towards the West coast. She needed to go. It didn’t matter where, but they needed to get there fast. She thought about heading straight to Tahoe, but she wasn’t sure she could make it. She wasn’t mentally prepared to drive that long. They were a good fifteen hours away from Tahoe when they were in Cheyenne. She hadn’t really been paying attention to the mile markers or the road signs as she just barreled down the highway.
She could feel herself getting tired of the road. She knew that they would need to pull over soon and find out where they should stay. She wondered if Cole was any closer in finding her somewhere to stay in Seattle. She knew that he was looking, but she was in a hurry. Things were getting complicated and she needed something soon.
“Del?” Angie asked finally breaking the silence.
“Yes?” she replied, still not turning to face her.
“Are you mad at me?”
“No.”
“Will you talk to me?”
“What would you like to talk about?”
“We left Cheyenne quickly.”
“We did,” Del answered.
“Why?”
“We had stayed too long. We need to keep moving. I think I have found somewhere to stay for a while, but we need to keep moving. I don’t want anyone to figure out where we are.”
“You’ve cut your hair. I’ve dyed mine. We are almost to the other side of the country. Do you really think that they are going to come this far just to kill me?” Angie asked her.
“Yes, they will. Cartels are known for taking care of their business. If they want you dead, they aren’t going to stop until you are. I wish that I could tell you that everything will be okay, but I don’t know that. I want to keep you safe. I am going to keep you safe. I am going to make sure that you are safe and stay that way,” Del explained.
