Rainier

“Great, thanks.” Rain set the receiver on the phone down and turned towards her. “Hello, beautiful.” He started walking towards her in a slow stalking gate that had her squeezing her legs together to ease the ache of her now very alert pussy.
Quinn gave her hair a shake. “Oh sure, I should be on the cover of Vogue.”
“Yes, you absolutely should. You look different. More relaxed.” Rain stopped at her knees and leaned in, causing her to put her hands back on the bed to be able to still see him. He was close enough she could hear him sniffing her, like he hadn’t just been holding her and he’d forgotten what she smelled like.
“Well, a couple of orgasms and a really great nap in an amazing bed will do that to anyone.” She said the words teasingly, but it was absolutely true.
“I’m glad to be of service and I’d be happy to give you an encore performance, but I just ordered half the menu from room service. There’s a very good chance we could be caught in an indelicate position when they bring the food. Besides, I want you to have plenty of strength for the rest of the evening.”
“What? We’re not heading back to campus? There’s still time to get a refund on the room. I’m sure the staff wouldn’t be surprise. I’m not their usual clientele.” Quinn tried to sound humorous, but there was a very serious edge to what she was saying. It’s almost as if she was taunting him.
Giving him an out before he took one of his own. She knew it was a shit thing to do, there was nothing about Rain that made her think that he was the kind of person who would abandon her without an explanation. But her inner defense mechanism reared its ugly head and tried to fire the first shot.
Rain pushed her a little farther back on the bed with just his eyes, as he got closer to her mouth. When he was just an inch away, with his eyes still on her, he growled low and deep, the sound coming from within him. It made her shiver and made her nipples tighten. “Never, and I mean never, talk about yourself like that again. You are not to be used and tossed away. You’re mine. That means you and me, and no one else. I will never want anyone else. Never desire anyone else. You are the only thing I will ever want or need.”
He saw her eyes flicking between his, a crease between her eyebrows as he watched her struggle. Except the struggle was all inside of her head. He had never considered himself a patient man. But when it came to his mate, he seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of it. He would break down all of her walls, and break through all of her defenses until she trusted him, until she truly believed in him. Until his love for her was as real and common as the air she breathed.
“Geezus, Rain. You’re so fucking intense. My brain is telling me to throw a punch at you for telling me what to do and how to feel, but for some reason, I get wet when you talk to me like that. What the hell is wrong with me?”
“There’s nothing wrong with you, baby. It’s just your inner animal responding to mine. It doesn’t make you less, or me more. It means I’m giving you something you want, you just didn’t know that you needed it.”
Rain knew he was dumping some heavy shit on her. But he had also promised never to lie to her. Her body was responding to him and his animal because deep down inside her, she liked it. Maybe she’d realize someday that all the hard work she put in day-to-day, going to school, and going to work would eventually wear on her. But with Rain, she could let go and let someone else take charge.
“Spread your legs for me,” he ordered. She hesitated for a second, before her legs slid open, her robe parting to reveal her bare thighs.
“Why do I do that so easily for you?”
“Because, even though you don’t know me very well, you trust me enough to know that there is no way I would ever hurt you. There’s also the clear understanding that I will absolutely bring you pleasure. You know I will don’t you?”
Quinn let out a long whimpering moan as she dropped her head back to stare at the ceiling. “If I say yes does that make me a fool?”
“No, it makes you perfect.”
Rain brought his thumb to the slick lips between her thighs. He ran the pad of his thumb delicately over her, tracing the outline of his paradise. He wanted to make love to her again. Even though there was no way, even with his lack of experience, he could get it done before the food came. That’s why he had ordered the food. Because once he took care of that need, he could spend the rest of the night taking care of all of hers.
Quinn let out a whimper as her thighs started to twitch. Her head came back up to stare at him.
“Shhh, we can’t play yet.”
“Then what the hell are you doing?” She asked with frustration.
“Entertaining myself until the food gets here,” he said mockingly.
“Dick.”
Rain let out a chuckle. She wasn’t wrong. It was kind of a dick move to torment someone, yet he was finding that he very much enjoyed teasing his mate. She responded so quickly to his touch that he wanted to see all of her limits and test every one.
He was actually quite proud of himself that he’d resisted the urge to bite her. His bear had been almost blind with lust and the desire to complete their union by tasting her blood. It was almost as strong as his urge to come. But at twenty-one, the urge to climax still trumped all.
Rain paused his play to bring his thumb up to his mouth. He licked and sucked her flavor in, rolling it over his tongue.
“Dude, you’re a freak,” she whispered.
Rain had let his eyes fall closed when her taste hit him. Now he opened them to show her his bear was fully involved.
“Damn, that’s cool and scary. I still stand by the freak comment. Who tastes someone like that?”
“I do. Because my mate is better than any dessert I’ve ever had. And if you’d let me, I’d keep my face buried in that sweet honey pot all day long.”
“That would make classes interesting,” she murmured.
“I’m debating whether or not I even want to shower or keep your scent on me all day. You make us happy and content. It’s a nice feeling.”
Quinn gave him a frown. “I’m not sure what the etiquette is for going around smelling like pussy all day. I’ll have to check the internet on that one.”
There was a knock at the door. “That was fast,” she said almost sadly.
“Don’t worry, baby, I’ll happily come back to this meal once I deal with the food.” He leaned over and gave her a quick kiss before moving to the door.
Quinn sat up and pulled the robe around her more tightly. She didn’t need to be giving some waiter a peep show. She also couldn’t resist the urge to run her tongue over her lips. She could taste herself. It wasn’t a bad taste, earthy and human for sure, although Rain’s desire for it was a mystery. She never went around thinking, “Gee, some dick would taste good right about now.” Maybe that was Mother Nature’s little gift to women. That men desired to smell and taste a woman’s pussy. Mother Nature was clearly a badass.
Rain was smiling when he opened the door to admit the waiter pushing a large table covered in a smooth white table cloth. There were about a half dozen covered dishes in various sizes crammed onto the table.
He greeted the man and directed him to put the table in the middle of the room. He returned to the hallway and brought in a champagne bucket stand and placed it next to the table. The waiter adjusted the table, locking the wheels and then pulling up the sides of the table to make a larger round table. From under the table cloth more covered dishes were produced and arranged on the top. He pulled off the silver domed lids and announced what was under each of them.
“We have the beef tartare and house smoked salmon appetizers. There is also a cheese plate with fresh figs and fruit compote. For entrees, we have the Penn Cove mussels, sautéed in a mix of thyme, smoked onion butter and a side of our dill fries. Here is the Wild King salmon, this is the Mishima Ranch Wagyu beef, ribeye. This is the broccolini and roasted mushrooms. Here we have the burger made with local Beecher’s cheese. For dessert there are fresh strawberr
ies with clotted cream and our special for tonight, death by chocolate cake. Is there anything else I can get for you, sir?”
“No, that’s great, thank you,” Rain said, pulling a folded bill from his pocket and handing it to the man.
Rain flipped the latch at the top of the door when the waiter left. He also slipped the Do Not Disturb sign on the handle outside. He didn’t want anyone intruding on the rest of their evening.
“Are we having a party?” Quinn asked from the bed.
“Nope, I just wanted my girl to have all the options. I know how much you liked your dinner the other night. This should hit all your taste buds in the happy place.”
“I’ll hit you in your happy place,” she mumbled.
Rain just gave her a smile. He liked her saucy. Grumpy was a good look on her, especially when there was no heat behind it.
She was creeping towards the table so Rain grabbed a fork for her.
“There is so much food. How are we going to eat all this?”
“Take one bite of everything, if there is something you really like, dig in. There is a good sized fridge over there if you want to save any for later,” he said, pointing to the credenza.
“Champagne?” he offered.
“Why the hell not? I’m feeling lottery fancy tonight.”
“Lottery fancy?”
“Yeah, you know, the things you imagine you’d buy or do if you ever won the lottery. I don’t actually play the lottery so it’s even more farfetched that I’d ever win. But it’s fun to dream sometimes.”
“You dream about food and champagne?”
“I had mimosas once and couldn’t understand why people don’t drink those all day. I mean why keep them regulated to a weird meal between breakfast and lunch? They’re delicious and should replace afternoon tea. And yes, if I won the lottery, I’d eat all the things I see on Food Network.”
Rain followed her as she started sniffing over the plates. “Dig in.”
Chapter 28
She attacked the plate of mussels and slid one of the slippery butter soaked tidbits into her mouth. She moaned and closed her eyes. Rain loved that she didn’t hide her reactions. If she liked something, she let it show.
He only wished that she was as open about how she felt about him. He knew that she was feeling something. He could smell how much she liked him. What was behind her eyes told him that she was fighting her feelings.
Every moment she didn’t turn tail on him, he felt like they were moving forward. He couldn’t lie and say that it wasn’t still a valid concern. He might need another talk with his brother to sort out his next steps.
“I’m glad you’re hungry. Is there anything else you want?”
Quinn started talking with half a mouth full of food, “No, this is good.”
Rain grabbed a chair and moved it under her. She sat with a nod, and kept chewing. He figured staring at her while eating was crossing some kind of line, so he grabbed the plate of Ribeye and dug in. It was good, really good. But then, what would you expect from the Four Seasons. He was hungrier than he realized and put away the steak in no time. Quinn had moved on to the fries and started picking apart the hamburger, tossing the bun aside.
“Problem with the bun?”
“No, just too filling. I want to save room for the good stuff. I can have bread anytime.”
Leaning over he said, “Let me try.”
She hesitated a little like she didn’t want to give up the burger. She was eating it with a fork and knife, so she cut him off a huge bite.
Rain opened his mouth comically big and wiggled his tongue.
“Oh yeah. That’s hot, baby,” she snorted. She still fed him the bite.
“Not bad,” he mumbled around the bite.
“I know! So good. I could have this every day.”
“Don’t you think you could get too much of a good thing?” he asked.
She raised her eyebrow at him.
“You don’t count, Quinn. I’ll never get enough of you, and you are much better than a burger or some ribeye.”
“Gee thanks, honey.”
Rain glanced down at his plate. He wanted to ask her something and wasn’t sure if it was going to be an easy sell or he’d have to convince her.
Taking a slug of champagne, he swallowed and cleared his throat. “Uh, Quinn?
“Mm-hmm?” Quinn was poking at the steak tartare. “Are you supposed to eat this raw?”
Ignoring the question, he just stabbed some of the tartare and popped it into his mouth. She watched him chew then followed suit.
“Quinn, would you meet my family? Just my brother and his wife first. Not all of them. But I think you’d like them and I know that they’d love to meet you.”
Quinn had stopped chewing and was looking at him with bug eyes. She made an audible swallowing noise.
“Uhh…”
The feeling of sheer terror that passed over Quinn made her palms itch and her back start to sweat. Family? Quinn had no idea what to do with a family. That whole dynamic was so foreign to her; she had never even had dinner at a friend’s house, and now Rain wanted her to meet some of his family? At least he didn’t say his mother, that horror was too much for her to wrap her brain around.
She wasn’t ready. She was handling things pretty well, she thought. Guy that says he loves her, also says he can turn into a bear, whatever. But meeting his brother, the advice brother, was different than meeting Fin. Fin was kind of an idiot and it was easy to be comfortable around him. But Rain had talked about his older brother and his wife, no scratch that, his mate and their babies like it was his idea of heaven.
Babies, she could totally handle those. She liked kids. They were innocent and usually didn’t throw too much attitude. Kids were tolerable. Adults were judgmental assholes.
“Is there any way we could sideline this conversation say in exchange for sex?”
“Quinn, I’m always up for making love to you, but I’d still like you to think about it. My brother’s mate is probably the best person to answer any questions you might have. And she will totally not bullshit you about anything. She always tells it like it is.”
“I could never accuse you of not being honest, Rain. I’m just not sure I’m ready to delve into… all of this. I mean, come on, I haven’t even met this bear of yours.” She said this with a laugh. It didn’t mean she wasn’t horribly frightened by either potential outcome.
In one scenario, he stood there and made weird growling noises at her and she would have to figure out how to move out of state and still finish her degree.
How did one go about getting a restraining order anyway? In the other, the universe felt like mocking all of her assumptions about life and Rain would, in fact, turn into a big hairy critter. That scenario was actually more daunting than the first because then she wouldn’t have any reason not to believe everything he’d ever said to her. That horrible inner pessimist was rooting for option one. It would be easier to deal with and it would cement her current belief system.
“Then let’s spend our night together. We can discuss things again tomorrow.”
Gawd, he was so nice. He always comforted her when she expected him to be annoyed at her lack of enthusiasm about his devotion.
“Deal.” She would take the reprieve, gladly. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to keep him distracted from any more uncomfortable conversations as long as she could.
Rain knew that she didn’t want to talk about heavy things. He also knew that he wasn’t going to continue asking her about the visit with Cash while she was so lovingly providing him with his very first blow job. It was another experience that discussion and dreaming couldn’t have prepared him for. It was another burned memory for him.
They had made love twice more after dinner. Each time he’d let himself be more of his true self. He took her as he wanted and the more he demanded the more she gave. This was one place his mate didn’t hold back how she felt. Everything he wanted to try, every position, she gla
dly participated. She even showed him a few things that he hadn’t planned on for their first time together.
He would never have asked her to do what she was doing now. Not that it wasn’t a dream come true. Quinn had pushed him back down on the bed after they’d shared a long leisurely shower where he’d made her climax again while he soaped her body. He would have been happy if they had gone to bed after that. Instead, after toweling her off, she’d saucily sauntered out of the bathroom throwing a look over her shoulder at him.
Rain took that as the invitation she had intended. He wasn’t prepared when she waited for him to sit down, and then sank to her knees in front of him. He’d held his breath as her soft mouth slid down his shaft. Once, twice wetting the length of him until she sealed her mouth around the base of his cock.
He wasn’t sure if he’d ever breathe again. The air was trapped in his lungs as she lavished him with her tongue. She would suck him then alternate running her mouth along the underside of his cock.
“Quinn, you don’t have to…” It sounded weak even to his own ears. What man would want a woman to stop sucking his cock out of honorable intentions? Only a fool, that was for sure.
Quinn made an exaggerated lick over the end of his cock and gave him an almost wicked smile. “Of course I don’t, but aren’t you glad I am?”
She returned her mouth to his shaft and he decided not to distract her any further. He wasn’t sure how long he was going to last anyway, the sweet velvet of her mouth was delicate and strong at the same time. She was bobbing up and down his shaft; intently bring him to his climax.
“Quinn…” he gave a warning when he couldn’t hold back any longer. He expected her to slide off of him but instead she wrapped her hands around his back and held him tight to her mouth. He brought a hand up to her head lightly almost like he was finding a centering point to balance himself. Rain felt the tightening in his groin and almost resisted at the last moment, but it was no use.
He couldn’t hold back the first hot jet of cum that poured into her mouth. Quinn swallowed against the head of his cock as his hips, which he’d kept astonishingly still up until then, thrust against her tongue. He wanted to feel guilty, but he just couldn’t as the painful pleasure shot through him.
