  Acknowledgements

Huge thanks once again to my friends and family who gamely read through my drafts and said, “Sheesh, woman—get this right already!”: Barb Goff (no one can nag like a sister), Paula Snyder, Cheryl Passey, Jennifer Merrill (whose necessary brutality has improved this greatly), Freddy Thomson, RJ Golding (who took over marvelously for his sister, Debbie Beier who we lost to cancer), and Arlyn Collett. I must confess that I probably still didn’t get it all right, but it’s a lot better than it was, thanks to all these sharp-eyed volunteers. And I always need something to fix for future editions, right?

Additional thanks to my children who know at least where to find me each day, tapping relentlessly at my laptop. Thanks, too, to my husband who, while living away thousands of miles away for the majority of the time I was working on book 6, knows that if I’m happy, everyone else is happy. And when I’m writing, I’m happy. I don’t understand why many writers say they hate writing, because it’s joy, pure joy.

Gratitude of immense proportions also to my readers who encourage me and kindly ask when the next book is coming out. I deeply appreciate all fourteen of you. Books 7 and 8 are on the way.

  About the author . . .

Trish Strebel Mercer has been teaching writing, or editing graduate papers, or changing diapers since the early 1990’s. She earned a BA in English from Brigham Young University and an MA in Composition Theory and Rhetoric from Utah State University. She and her husband David have nine children (and now adding grandchildren) and have raised them in Utah, Idaho, Maryland, Virginia, and South Carolina. They used to live in the rural west and dreamed of the day they would be old enough to be campground managers in Yellowstone National Park. Now they live along the rural northeast coast and pretend they already are.
