Portrait of Love

Mandy frowned. “Does she know about—this?” She held up her finger and pointed to the ring.

A sheepish look crossed his face. “Well. . .yeah. You’re not mad, are you? I mean, I wanted to talk to your parents, and she was right there, and—”

She slowly shook her head. “No, I’m not mad at all.”

Tony leaned over and kissed Mandy; then they turned to look at the flowers. After a couple of moments of silence, he tugged her toward the car. “C’mon. I have reservations for dinner at the Ihlenfeld Room.” He chuckled as she wobbled toward the car. “If I’d known how difficult this would be for you, I wouldn’t have asked you to dress up.”

She lost her balance, and he caught her. She laughed. “Looks like I’m literally falling for you.”

“And I’ll always be there to catch you.”
