  CHAPTER ELEVEN

  Tobias

After finding out the truth about his parents, Tobias was surprised to feel like a weight had been lifted it off him. It wasn't just that though, knowing that he was a dragon shifter had helped him accept himself more. He began to understand why he had always felt like an outsider, and now he suddenly felt like he belonged. He belonged somewhere at least.

As much as it hurt to know how his parents died, he was also relieved. He'd always felt like he couldn't breathe easy, the weight of uncertainty had been suffering him his whole life. Now, for the first time in his life, Tobias felt like he could breathe.

He was changing every day. He felt his body change. Not just because he was pregnant, but because his dragon was becoming more and more a part of him. He was getting more muscular, his shoulders broadening and his body looking more toned. His stomach was getting bigger too, it felt like every day the bump would protrude a little more. He was worried people would start to notice soon but Nathaniel assured him no one would ever guess such an improbable scenario.

He still hadn't quite accepted everything though. After a lifetime of feeling abandoned and lost, it was hard for him to suddenly trust someone else. But he wanted to so bad. Nathaniel had nothing short of amazing to him and his feelings for him only strengthened day by day.

They'd decided though that they would hold off their relationship until Tobias was ready. Nathaniel didn't want to rush him, he told him they had their whole lives to make it work. That comforted Tobias more than anything ever had.

"Do you think you're ready to meet more of your kind?" Nathaniel asked them as they lay on the couch in his living room.

  "More dragon shifters?" Tobias asked.

He had been thinking about it for a while, he knew he would have to see a doctor soon. He would have to go to a shifter specialist, someone who knew how to handle a dragon. Tobias had tried not to think too much about it though, the idea of giving birth terrified him, although as his dragon became stronger so did Tobias's nerves. Nathaniel assured him by the due-date his body would be developed enough that the birth would be easy. Tobias was skeptical.

"Yes, I have a group of dragons I meet once a month to play cards with," Nathaniel told him. "I've told them about you... they want to meet you, some of them even knew your parents."

Tobias felt his eyes light up. He was still so curious about who his parents were. He had never imagined that a man gave birth to him, yet somehow once he knew it didn't seem strange. It felt like he'd suddenly known all along. And he remembered them now. Just bits and pieces. Nathaniel told him that was his dragon's memory, that their minds were now connected and they could share information between them.

"Okay," Tobias said. "And I'd like to see a doctor soon also. I want to make sure the baby's okay."

Nathaniel leaned over and kissed his cheek. Tobias felt his cheeks flush. He missed Nathaniel's body. Missed him being inside him. He reached his hand out and scraped down his professor's chest, biting his lip as he stared into Nathaniel's eyes. Nathaniel quickly grabbed his hand and Tobias could see the primal lust in his dark eyes.

"No," he said in a low, deep voice, "I can't handle you touching me like that Tobias. Not until you're ready. You're not ready yet."

Tobias pouted. He may not have been ready to give himself away emotionally just yet but his body was another story. The pregnancy hormones were driving him insane, he was rock hard almost every hour of the day and he craved the release he knew only Nathaniel could give him.

"Besides, if we're going to go meet my buddies then we'd better get going soon," Nathaniel said.

"I didn't realize you meant tonight," Tobias said, feeling nervous already.

He hadn't even fully shifted yet, he was still considered an adolescent to other dragon shifters. He worried they wouldn't take him seriously, that he'd still feel like an outsider even with his own kind.

"Relax, kid," Nathaniel said. "You have nothing to be afraid of."

"I know... it's just hard. I feel so unsure of myself still," Tobias confessed to Nathaniel.

Nathaniel took his hand in his.

"If it's too soon for you then--" he began to tell him.

"No, it's not. I want to do this Nathaniel," Tobias replied.

Nathaniel grinned, letting go of his hand as pressed to his feet.

  "Let's get going then."

They drove in Nathaniel's car for a while before pulling up outside a large mansion. It took Tobias by surprise, he hadn't expected to be going to a place like that.

  "You ready?" Nathaniel asked him.

Tobias nodded and they got out of the car, walking to the door hand-in-hand and ringing the doorbell. A moment later a red-headed woman appeared in an elegant black shift dress. She instantly smiled and took Nathaniel into her arms.

A surge of jealousy bolted through Tobias. He didn't know why. Nathaniel was gay so why should he care? He decided he just didn't like the fact that he was obviously well acquainted with the woman, that she knew him better than Tobias did.

"Monique," Nathaniel said, "I want you to meet someone very special, this is Tobias."

"Oh God! You weren't lying. He's gorgeous!" Monique said as if Tobias wasn't standing right next to her.

Tobias felt his cheeks flush with heat for the third time that day. The woman was a dragon shifter like him and Nathaniel, he could see it now, he was starting to recognize what set them apart from humans.

"Come in sweetheart," she said, grabbing Tobias's shoulder and sweeping him through the door. "Everyone is dying to meet you."

Tobias found that strange. No one had ever been dying to meet him in his life. No one had ever cared enough to so much as glance in his direction.

"Sorry," Nathaniel whispered in his ear as they walked through to the living room, "Monique can be a little intense. Just relax, I won't leave your side all night."

Tobias was glad Nathaniel kept his word. Not once did he leave his side the whole evening. He was introduced to the rest of Nathaniel's friends and each one of them treated him like he was practically family. It was a situation Tobias thought he'd probably never get used too.

There was Airene and Dax, Monique and Phillip, Jack and Noah and Declan, who didn't have a mate yet. He somehow fit in with them, like their was this bond already there even if he couldn't explain why.

Tobias was still nervous, he barely said anything all night but for the first time in his whole life he felt almost content. Jack and Noah had known Tobias's parents and they told him stories about them. It made his heart squeeze so tight he almost couldn't breathe. He missed them more than he would ever be able to express. But it cemented in him a sudden extreme paternal need. He clung to his belly the whole night, whispering to his baby in his head. He swore to protect his child the same way his parents had protected him. He might not have known he wanted a baby but he knew now that it was exactly what he needed. This baby and Nathaniel were the best thing to ever happen to him.

  CHAPTER TWELVE

  Tobias

Tobias had hardly seen Brad with everything else going on in his life. He'd spend most of his night's sleeping at Nathaniel's place and he was avoiding him in classes because he worried Brad would realize something wasn't right with him.

"Hey man, wait up!" Brad called as they left their English lit class. "I've hardly seen you these last few weeks. Wanna grab lunch and catch up?"

Tobias felt guilty for avoiding Brad. He was the first person he'd ever really considered a friend and so he didn't want to act like an ass to him.

"Sure, sounds good," Tobias told him and they walked to the cafeteria.

Once they were sitting down the questions began.

"So I'm guessing you worked things out with the dude you were seeing, that's why you haven't been around," Brad said before shoving a spoonful of mashed potato in his mouth.

"Yeah, we did in the end," Tobias said, smiling to h
imself.

So much had changed in just a month, he thought, as he remembered his first interactions with Nathaniel.

"So, will I get to meet him?" Brad asked, smiling at him.

Tobias flushed. He wanted to tell Brad he already knew him but he wasn't sure he could trust him with that information just yet. Plus it was way more complicated than that.

"You're blushing, Tobi!" Brad teased, "I already know him, don't I? He goes to our college!"

"Yeah, you've probably seen him around. We're keeping it on the down low though. He's still in the closet," Tobias told him.

He felt a little bad for lying but Brad seemed to eat it up. He, himself was in the closet so he understood.

"Have you been working out? I swear you've made some decent gains since I first met you," Brad mentioned after they'd changed the topic of conversation.

"Ah, yeah, a bit," Tobias lied.

Brad's observation was correct. Tobias's body was toned now, his slender frame replaced by tight muscle.

"Cool. Maybe we can hit the gym some time?" Brad suggested to him.

"Maybe," Tobias said, "I better get going, I've got to be somewhere in an hour."

"Well shit, don't be a stranger man," Brad said, putting his hand out for a fist-bump.

"See ya, dude," Tobias said, laughing as he walked off.

He headed off campus to a back street where he was meeting Nathaniel. He was picking him up in his car so they didn't want risk anyone recognizing them. They were going to see a doctor for the first time, one that Monique had recommended.

"Where have you been?" Nathaniel asked as Tobias slipped into the passenger's seat.

Tobias looked at his watch, he was only fifteen minutes late so he didn't get why Nathaniel had such an annoyed tone to his voice.

"I had lunch with Brad, my room mate," Tobias told him, "I hadn't seen him in a while so..."

"Your gay room mate?" Nathaniel asked.

"Well, yeah, he's my room mate and he happens to be gay. You don't have anything to worry about," Tobias snapped back, annoyed that Nathaniel would ever be suspicious about him.

"Right," Nathaniel said and he started the ignition, pulling out onto the street.

Tobias wondered what was up the professor's ass today. Things had been so good with them, Tobias was starting to feel like he could really be with Nathaniel. And now he seemed like he was pissed at him for having lunch with Brad, who had never been more than just a friend of his.

"I'm sorry," Nathaniel finally said after a long period of silence. "I don't know why I reacted like that."

"It's okay," Tobias found himself saying.

"No, it's not. You're my mate, I should never treat you with anything but respect and kindness," Nathaniel said.

"We've been through a lot these last few weeks, it hasn't been an easy road," Tobias told him.

"I guess. It's hard. Wanting you is hard. Aching for you the way I do. Every moment of the goddamn day," Nathaniel said, his eyes focused intensely on the road in front of them.

Tobias swallowed hard. He knew exactly how Nathaniel felt because he was going through the same thing. In fact, right now his cock was hard at the mere thought of kissing his older mate.

"Pull the car over," Tobias said.

"What? Why? Are you okay?" Nathaniel asked him, looking over.

"Just do it," Tobias told him again.

Nathaniel pulled the car over on a quiet suburban street and shut off the engine.

"I need to kiss you," he said, "need to feel your lips on mine. Need to taste you."

Nathaniel looked like his body was at a battle with his brain but he soon caved in, his body winning the war. He grabbed Tobias's head and pulled it to his own, his lips smothering his omega's as they passionately kissed each other.

"Oh God, I've missed you," Nathaniel groaned as he pulled away again, "I've missed you so fucking much."

"Me too," Tobias said, "we can still take things slow, and give each other what we need."

Nathaniel's jaw tensed, he had flames in his eyes as he stared at him. The on-going battle inside him was obvious, but Tobias knew he was going to win.

"Like what?" Nathaniel said, coming in close to Tobias, "what is it you need, omega?"

Tobias bit down on his lip then brought his fingers to the band of his sweatpants. Nathaniel's eyes followed, his breathing getting heavier by the second. Tobias tugged his pants down just enough that the head of his erection poked out and he saw Nathaniel absolutely lose it at the sight.

"Touch me, please, I need to come so bad," Tobias told him.

A moan escaped Nathaniel's mouth and he leaned in close to Tobias, rubbing his nose against his face and then taking his mouth again into a deep kiss. His hand wrapped around Tobias's cock and he began to rub the weeping pre-cum around with his thumb.

"Oh, God," Tobias quivered, "yes, don't stop."

He tugged him back and forth a few times before surprising Tobias by sticking his mouth over his cock quickly, then sitting back up as though it never happened. Tobias had never felt anything so amazing as having Nathaniel's mouth on his sensitive cock, the sensation was so powerful, he knew wasn't going to last much longer.

"Holy shit. I'm so close. Just. Don't. Stop."

And Nathaniel didn't. He got his omega right to the edge and as if he knew Tobias couldn't take anymore he bent down and enveloped his cock with his mouth again until Tobias had emptied his balls right into his mouth.

"God, you taste so damn good," Nathaniel told his omega.

"Your mouth felt so good. I've never felt anything like that before. It was... incredible," Tobias said, still seeing stars after his intense orgasm.

Nathaniel started the engine again and pulled out, back on route to the see the doctor.

"You're incredible kid. You have no idea what you do to me."

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

  Tobias

They arrived at the clinic not long after Nathaniel had pleasured me. Tobias was still writhing in the afterglow of having just come insanely hard and that mixed with the excitement of having the baby's first scan had him in a good mood. First they were taken to meet Dr. Potts, who was a specialist in shifter birthing and also worked as a midwife.

"Nathaniel McAdams, and this is Tobias Green," Nathaniel said, introducing themselves to the doctor.

Dr. Potts was a dragon shifter himself. He appeared in his mid forties so Tobias had guessed he was something like 600 in dragon years. It comforted Tobias to know the man wasn't lying about his extensive years of experience.

"So how many weeks are you now?" Dr. Potts asked, sitting down at his desk with a pen in hand.

Nathaniel grabbed Tobias's hand as they sat side-by-side on separate chairs.

"About six weeks," Tobias told him, looking at Nathaniel for confirmation. He silently nodded and squeezed his omega's hand.

It was crazy that he was almost half way through his pregnancy since a dragon shifter's prenatal period was only around thirteen weeks.

"And your morning sickness has subsided? Or are you still experiencing nausea?" the doctor asked, peeking over his glasses that were resting midway down his nose.
