It took a long moment before understanding flashed in his amber eyes. “You’re pregnant?”
She gave a slight nod, watching his expression warily. “Are you upset?”
“Upset?” He blinked several times, before a wide grin spread across his face. “God, no. I’m ecstatic.”
“Really?”
“Really.” He dipped his head, kissed her fiercely, then drew back with eyes moist. “You’ve already given me everything. I didn’t think there was anything else to give. But this–”
She heard the emotion in his voice, the catch in his throat, and her heart swelled with love for the man. Her mate. Her future. And now the father of her child. If there had been any walls left around her heart, they crumpled in that moment.
“I love you,” she said breathlessly against his lips.
The joy on his face stole her breath.
“Kiera, I–” he choked up, paused, then cleared his throat. “Thank you for being mine.”
She grinned at him. “I think you’ve got it backwards.”
“Really?” He raised an eyebrow.
She lifted her chin, twined her fingers behind his neck and smiled wickedly. “You’re mine.”
He laughed, scooped her into his arms, and carried her up the stairs towards the master bedroom. “I can live with that.”
