  She gasps in a breath.

“Put your arms up.” I lock the first wrist into place tightly. She gasps again, louder. I pull the cuffs through the metal of the headboard. She opens her eyes and I smile down at her. She buys it, her eyes are still full of lust. “Almost ready.”

I lock in her other wrist. She’s trapped now. She can’t meddle with what I’m going to do.

“Shit, my dick is so fucking hard right now.” I close my eyes for a few seconds. I could fuck her before I leave. I’m tempted. I force myself to get up.

She watches me, the first flicker of doubt crossing her face as I stand and start to dress. “Logan...”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be back to finish this.”

She takes in a long breath and starts to spit profanities at me. Oh she’s pissed the hell off. Why is that such a goddamned turn on? I pull the silk sheets over her gorgeous body before I leave. Who knows how long I’m going to be.

Her glower follows me as I exit. “You’ll regret this, Logan!”

  I seriously doubt that.

  Chapter Twenty

  Eden

It’s kind of a downer to listen to Skyler’s veiled and not so veiled barbs directed at Cain all afternoon. On the bright side, Sky’s all-nighter has drained her, so I know getting a night alone with Nick is going to be easy. The thought lightens my mood. We bring take-away food back to her place to eat for dinner, and I tell Nick I’ll meet him at the club in a few hours.

“The back-stabber can leave now,” Sky says, making a shooing motion at Cain.

“Cain, stay.” I shake my head at her. “You two seriously need to talk.”

“We seriously need to fuck.” She gives him the eye.

He sighs and looks away, going to the window and peering through the blinds.

I touch her arm, using my goddess light on her. “Sky, what’s going on with you?”

She gazes at me sadly as the light enters her body. “I can’t answer that. He won’t let me.”

I’m using my light and she won’t give me a straight answer? I wonder why it’s not working. Is it because she’s drunk, or is her will just too strong? This would be one of those questions I need to remember to ask Cupid when he decides to grace me with his presence again.

“Who won’t let you?” I somehow already know she won’t answer, but I at least need to try.

She starts to tear up, shaking her head and pulling at her hair with her free hand. “I told you I can’t say. I can’t. Why are you asking me this? I thought you were my friend?”

  “It’s okay, Sky. Everything’s okay.”

She chokes back a sob and then calms down. “Don’t ever ask me, okay? Never.”

I let go. Whatever’s haunting her, it’s deep-rooted and it’s already damaged her badly. She’ll never be able to love Cain if she can’t address it, but I can’t force her. No-one can force this. A hopeless thought fills my head, and it breaks my heart to realise it. She might never be able to face what happened. The wound might be too deep.

  “I’m so sorry, Sky.”

She shrugs it off, grabbing one of the boxes from the Chinese place and starting to eat as she flops down on the sofa. I look at Cain and he’s watching her, torn. His arms are crossed.

“You need to eat too,” I tell him as I unpack the rest onto the table Sky seems to have been using as an ashtray. She smokes when she’s tense. It’s weird. She isn’t addicted, but sometimes she just seems to need it, and when she does she goes extreme with it. Three packs a day extreme.

He shakes his head. He hasn’t spoken around her at all.

It hurts my heart to see them like this. They’re both in so much pain. Skyler more than him, but everything could be resolved so easily if they could just give each other the time of day. I know Sky isn’t ready, but I wonder if Cain being away from her is making it worse. Biting down on my lip, I leave the food.

“Cain, I need you to escort me to the car.”

Sky doesn’t say a word. She glances down the hall to her room. “Ed! Are you awake yet, asshole?”

His groans tell us he’s still suffering. She shakes her head as she switches on the TV.

  “Fucking light weight,” she mutters.

“We’ll be right back,” I say, steering Cain out the apartment when he hesitates.

We stop right outside the door and he frowns at me. “We shouldn’t leave her alone. She’s not protected.”

“Relax, I don’t really need to go to the car.” I hold his gaze and his shoulders relax, but only slightly. He shifts position slightly, so he’s able to see both ways down the hall in his peripheral vision. It’s something I’ve noticed Logan do a million times. I smile in spite of myself, before I get into it with Cain. “She loves you, you know that, right?”

He looks down for a second. “She’s probably fucking the new guy.”

“She isn’t. It was only you for the last three years, Cain. She needs you.”

He sighs deeply. “I left because I couldn’t do this anymore.”

“I think she just needs time. There’s something.... Something happened to her that she won’t talk about. I don’t think she’ll ever be able to make the first move. She’s too afraid.”

“I told her I loved her. It wasn’t what she wanted to hear.” He looks miserable. “I don’t know how many times I’ve told her by now. She can’t say it back. She can’t let me love her.”

Shit. It’s killing him to be around her. I don’t know how to help her. This sucks so freaking much.

“Fine. But you need to eat. I don’t know how I’m supposed to trust you to keep me safe when you’re running on empty.” I walk back inside and he follows.

I force some food down, though I’m hardly in the mood for it now. He does the same. I find soda in Sky’s fridge. Behind the beer and vodka. There’s no food. I look around her kitchen. There’s nothing but popcorn and tins of fruit in the cupboards. She tends to go out a lot, but still. This is worrying.

I don’t want to leave her with the idiot bodyguard who’s sweating out a hangover in the other room. She’s crashed out on the couch by the time I’ve made my decision.

“Cain, I’m calling Nick to pick me up. You need to stay with Sky until her idiot bodyguard has sobered up.”

“Nick isn’t a bodyguard, Eden.” He frowns at me. “He can’t...”

“I trust him to get me from here to the club and from the club to his apartment. It’s not like it’s far.”

The club was a few blocks away and his apartment was directly above it. There was even an entry point inside.

Cain frowns deeply at me. “This changes nothing.”

“I know. I just can’t leave her with that idiot. She needs to fire him.”

“Fine.” He sighs as he takes the takeout box from her hand before it falls to the floor. He puts it on the table and sighs some more as he lifts her up.

I call Nick while Cain puts Sky to bed. He picks up after a few rings.

  “Eden, hey. How’s Skyler?”

“Drunk and out cold.” I try to smile but it’s just not funny. My friend is hurting and I don’t know how to help her.

“Sounds like Sky. What time can you get here?”

“That’s what I’m calling about. Can you pick me up? I need to leave Cain here.”

“If you give me an hour to get things tied up I’ll be round. So I’ve got you all to myself tonight, do I?”

  “I’m all yours.”

“You don’t know how glad I am to hear that.”

Finally, I find a smile that doesn’t die.

  Chapter Twenty-One

  Nick

Turns out, the problem with my manager goes back further than the week I’d left him in charge. I’ve picked through two years of accounts to spot the discrepancies. I know I won’t be able to find all of it, but I’m shocked at what I’ve found so far. It’s a bigger problem than I’d realised and just looking at it all gives me a fucking headache.

  Eden’s call c
heers me up. It forces me to an end point. I’m no closer to a solution. It’s hard to decide who to trust when someone you did has just screwed you over so damned badly.

“Fuck it,” I say, switching off the computer. I’ll just go over my existing staff’s resumes and give one of them the job. They can’t do worse than the last guy. That would be impossible. I hope.

The door opens and Ellie walks in. “Oh, hey, boss. I didn’t know you were in. I was just going to get the floats.” She jangles a key at me and heads to the safe.

“Shit, is it that time already?” I check my watch. I had no idea it was so late. The club will be opening in an hour or so. “Hey, is the top VIP room booked tonight?”

She nods. “Um, yeah, I think it’s for that new rapper and his crew. Jamie’s serving up there tonight.”

  “What about tomorrow?”

“The top room’s empty tomorrow. The other two are booked.”

“Awesome. Do me a favour and mark the top room booked when you get into the system.”

“Sure,” she says, kneeling at the safe. “Private party?”

“You could say that.” I want to tell her who I’m entertaining but I’m not sure Eden would like me shooting my mouth off, so I manage to bite it back. I basically just want to brag so I wouldn’t blame her for being pissed if I did spill the news. Is it really so bad to want to tell everyone the hottest woman on the planet is mine? I don’t think so, but I know I’m biased. A bunch of people will see us go up there together, alone. It won’t take too much guessing to figure it out.

Ellie hauls the floats out and puts them on the table as she locks the safe. She stands up and lifts the cash trays. “I’m sorry about Pete. I heard he did some sketchy stuff.”

“Thanks, Ellie.” Hmm. I wonder… “You wouldn’t be interested in going for his job, would you?”

She snorts and gets instantly flustered, her face flushing and her arms fumbling with the trays. “Um, what did you just ask me?”

“You’re doing a business course at college, right?” I remember her mentioning it, I think. I know she’s not one of the actresses on staff. Those girls have a certain attitude to them that can really stink up a room.

She nods slowly. “Yeah, and I have a whole year left before I graduate. My parents would kill me if I dropped out to work full time.”

“Damn. Okay, well, let me know if there’s anyone you think might want it.” Probably has her eye on some kind of high-flying executive job when she finishes college too. What was I thinking?

“I’m not sure, boss. Jamie’s on my course too, but she’s in the same position. Her parents would kill her if she dropped out now. Most of the other guys have Hollywood shit going on.” She rolls her eyes. I know how she feels about the actors and actresses on the staff. Every time one of them switches shifts because they have an audition, or quits because they land a movie, she has something to say about it.

“Okay, thanks. I guess I have a job to advertise.”

The more I think about handing her my keys, the more I realise how perfect it would be. I can trust her. She’s a hard worker. Never called in sick once. And she knows what’s going on with the rest of the staff. Damn, Ellie. Why do you have to still be a student? It’s almost perfect, and that’s not good enough. Moping over it isn’t going to help.

  “Well, good luck.”

She leaves the office. I take my car keys out of my pocket as I follow. I still have no solution to my problem, but I have a gorgeous woman to go bring home, so I get moving.

  Chapter Twenty-Two

  Eden

Nick brought me to his place without incident. There’s an entrance through the back of the night club to get to his apartment. There’s a long hallway to an elevator once we get inside. He insists on letting me walk ahead. I glance back and catch him ogling my ass. His heated gaze warms me from the inside out. I almost feel like prey being stalked as I walk towards the elevator. I press the button and the doors open with a faint dinging noise. As soon as I step inside and turn around he’s on me. The sound of my bag hitting the floor coincides with his body slamming into mine. His arms secure me as my legs buckle on impact. I gasp as his gaze drops from my eyes to my lips.

“I’ve missed you too much,” he tells me, as he lowers his mouth to mine.

I close my eyes and enjoy the roughness of his stubble crushing against my skin as his embrace steals my breath and makes me feel like I’m floating on air. If this is what it feels like to be prey, I might just get to like it. He keeps one arm around me when he lets go to reach back and press the button to make the elevator move. It judders slightly before we start ascending. He puts his full attention back on me, the fingers on one hand tracing circles around my breasts slowly, awakening my nipples, while his other keeps my lower body pressed tight against his. His erection is grinding slowly against my stomach as my nipples pucker into hard little stones under his feather-light touch. I bite on my lower lip as he smiles.

  “I can’t believe you’re actually here.”

Neither can I but thinking about it starts to dampen my mood. You came to see Nick, Eden. He’s talking about you being in his place, not about you coming to L.A.

“I can’t believe you’re making me think about having sex in an elevator.”

He laughs as the doors open behind me. I’m disoriented for a second before I realise it only makes sense for the doors to open on the opposite side. His apartment would be tiny otherwise. I turn and gasp in a breath. It’s anything but tiny. The huge open plan room I step into is gorgeous, with massive windows along one wall.

He gets out the elevator and I hear the doors close. The next thing I hear is my bag hitting the floor. By the look in his eyes he wants to finish what we started, but he backs up and strips out of his T-shirt, dropping it to the ground. His shoes go next, kicked out of the way and leaving his feet bare on the hard-wood floor. My gaze drifts over his gym-built body. My heart races harder when I let it drift over his tattooed arms. He looks dangerous with that ink. He’s smirking when my eyes finally find his. Oh, he’d be dangerous with or without the tattoos and I know it.

“Caught you looking,” he teases as he unbuttons his jeans.

He’s almost completely naked now and I feel as if I’m frozen to the spot.

I snap out of my trance and slip out of my heels, going to the bag he dropped.

“I thought you were enjoying the show,” he complains.

I turn back, waving the bottle of lube at him. “I just thought we might be needing this.”

His faked pout turns into a grin. “Oh, we’ll be needing that. Later. First things first, Eden.”

He snatches it out of my hand and puts it on the table behind him, then pulls me to him. His jeans fall down, and I realise he wasn’t wearing underwear as his straining cock is exposed instantly. He puts my hand where he wants it and sighs softly as I start to stroke his thick shaft.

I get down on my knees, eager for a taste. He gasps as I lick the wet tip of his dick.

“I think that’s enough,” he tells me, as my lips close around him. His voice gets hoarse as I start to take him into my mouth. “Holy hell, Eden. You have to stop.”

I don’t, I take more. I gaze up at him and he closes his sexy green eyes.

I watch his Adam’s apple bob as I work, his hand runs down his face as he groans deeply.

“Enough,” he demands, sending a thrill through me as I obey.

I stop, and he helps me to my feet and pulls me in close. “I want the first time tonight to last, Eden. I want to do everything to that gorgeous body of yours. Then I want to do it all over again.”

He picks up the lube from the table, then he lifts me into his arms, bride-style and carries me to his bedroom. He drops me onto the middle of the bed, which has to be a super-king. Then he climbs over me and starts to peel off my skinny jeans. In hindsight they weren’t the sexiest choice I could have made, but he gets them off of me without too much trouble. I pull my T-shirt off and
he gazes at me in my underwear.

  “You’re a Goddess, Eden.”

I have to smile. “I know.”

“You will know, by the time I’m done showing you.”

His lips begin to worship my body, one little section at a time. He doesn’t touch any of the most sensitive areas, yet I’m a shaking mess by the time he reaches my lips and lets his body crush mine into the mattress. I can feel his erection throbbing against my hot core. I want it so badly, but I know he meant what he said. He’s taking every step slowly.

He moves back and unhooks my bra, somehow figuring out it’s a front clasp without fumbling with the back first. I let it fall off, and then stretch my arms out over my head as I lie back down. His hands move to my breasts but cup under them instead of moving upwards. I’m almost disappointed. Then he moves his thumbs to gently roam over those hard tips. I push my chest out when his touch gets lighter. This teasing is going to drive me crazy.

He takes his time and his touch gets lighter, then harder, lighter, then harder. It’s so intense I can feel how wet it’s making me between my legs. He stops when my breathing gets more laboured, moving on to the next part of his plan. He removes my panties and moans as his fingers slide through the fine hairs of my pussy to the wet lips under my clit.

“Oh, Eden, you’re fucking soaking for me already.”

  “So, take me already, Nick.”

“You have no idea how much I want to.” His fingers continue downwards. He presses two of them inside and slowly moves them in and out, up and down, wetting my eager clit and delving back into my cleft. My climax builds quickly, my body already stimulated to breaking point by the work he did on my trembling breasts. He strokes me to ecstasy and I moan as his touch is removed.

He doesn’t instantly position himself between my legs. I watch him pick up the lube. His gaze is more intense than I’ve ever seen it. He swallows before he speaks.

“Get onto your hands and knees at the edge of the bed.”

I do as he commands and wait to feel his touch. The dripping of the lube onto my skin makes me gasp. He positions me, so my ass is raised, and my head is down. I feel his fingers thick with the lubricant, slowly pushing into my anus. He starts with one. I relax, and he graduates to two.
