  Epilogue

Three weeks later, David entered the witness protection program.

The Boudreaux family did have a high-powered lawyer, but not high enough. Angel was indicted for tax evasion and sentenced to 30 years in prison without parole. Ernie got five years. Nick got 40 for the murder of Robert Gallagher.

Jeremy was sentenced to life for assault and sundry killings. The Nameless Girl, who turned out to be April Byrd, got by with three years and probation.

Albert Treacher became the subject of a Court TV documentary, which led to an appearance on Dancing with the Stars, where he lasted two weeks before blowing out his knee.

Max Boudreaux, who had indeed suffered a stroke, died shortly after Angel went to jail. This time his funeral was not live-streamed.

Stuart joined Gamblers Anonymous. He also put Jennifer Jenner on hold and delivered the first book in his new series. It was Long Johns Silver, about a pirate with magic underwear and a parrot who could only meow. Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review, and sales made Jennifer look like The Big Book of Shockingly Terrible Smells.

  Hunter’s still a jerk.

Last I heard Aaron was engaged to that good Amish girl, Susanna. But he struggles with Mountain Dew addiction.

As for me—I’m doing fine, thank you.

Though I do dress up in my Amish outfit sometimes and throw together a little pan rabbit and a chicken pot pie.
