Chloe's River Rescue

On our way home, Mum stopped the van at Joan of Arc’s house so we could thank her again for the billycart materials. Unfortunately, we couldn’t show her the cart because we had dismantled it and turned it into a raft. When we told her what had happened she was happy it had played a part in Yiayia’s rescue.

As a final way of showing our gratitude, we all chipped in and gave Joan’s front yard a quick clean-up. We filled up Dad and Alex’s car with junk to take to the dump, but not before Bella claimed a few key pieces for her next project. She says she’s going to build a boat. I think she got a taste for water at The Palms.

Word has spread about Emily and her maths sleuthing skills. She found a carnie chatroom that warned fair folk to be on the lookout for a nosy girl with red hair. Emily found it pretty funny, but decided the stallholders were relatively harmless when you put things in perspective. I can see her twenty years from now working as a top detective bringing down internet scammers, and corrupt bankers and stockbrokers. No one will cross her.

I wonder if the anti-princesses will want to come back to The Palms on our next family holiday. I think they will – surely a second trip couldn’t be as drama-filled as the first.

Whatever lies ahead, there’s one thing I’m certain of: we won’t need rescuing.
