The Analyst (Emily Lee Series Book 1)

His phone vibrated on his desk. Out of the corner of his eye he looked at the screen and returned to his coffee cup.
“The Commissioner has strongly advised that I’m to use up some of my annual leave and long service allowance. They reckon it’s exactly twelve months.”
“Okay. So why don’t you? It’s been a while since you’ve had a break.”
His police-issued phone vibrated again.
“You gonna get that?” Emily nodded at the phone. “It’s okay, you are still on the clock.”
Schultz sighed as he picked up his phone. Unlocking it, he paused.
“Looks like I’m not going be going on leave after all.”
Emily looked at him confused. “Huh?”
Schultz handed the phone over. Emily kept her face as straight as she could. The number, she recognized all too well.
“I’m wanted in Russia, too?”
Author Notes
I can’t thank you enough for not only picking up this book but for reading it all the way to the end. Thank you!
Although I come from a career in accounting and business management, I’ve always been a creative at heart and when it came to writing my first series it made sense for me to blend the two together and Emily Lee was born.
The Analyst took me a little longer than I’d anticipated to complete as I scraped the initial seven thousand or so words and started again, putting more action up front. But, I’ve loved the journey as I’ve re-connected with my writing.
I’m not usually a detailed planner and this book was no exception. I had maybe a few early scenes but that was it and I tried to flesh out the story before I started writing it but Emily had other ideas, so I was surprised when Schultz, and Fu popped up like they did. They’ve concreted where the series is going, unless they change their minds along the way and steer this series in a different direction.
If you enjoyed The Analyst, you’ll be happy to know book two, which has a working title of The Manager, is going through its final read through before being sent to the editor and I’ve already started writing book three which has a working title of The Inheritance.
What I can tell you is Schultz will be accompanying Emily in Book Two and Fu, well he’ll be in the background, watching and waiting for the right moment to resurface.
Beyond these first three books, future instalments are planned for Emily Lee. With plans already underway for a separate series that may (or may not) be connected to The Emily Lee Series— we’ll have to wait and see!
If you enjoyed this book, please give it a good rating on Amazon, Goodreads or where you usually leave reviews. It’s these ratings that help future readers when they’re looking for a new book or author to dive into.
Thank you for reading The Analyst, the first book in my debut series!

Acknowledgments
My writers’ journey from planning to completion may appear to be solitary but behind the scene there’s a great team of individuals who’ve helped make my dream a reality.
I’d like to say thank you first and foremost for the support provided by my family from husband and children, my parents, brother and sisters. They’re my personal cheer squad and their support kept me moving forward, allowed me to believe in myself when I was having doubts. Thank you all for believing in me.
I’m not a crazy cat lady, I swear, but thank you to our cat Rita for keeping me company into the early hours of the night while I punched out the words.
I’d like to say thank you to my editor Ella, your initial response when you returned my first draft spurred me on. You’ve also seen this book go through a few drafts and this book is now a lot better because of your skill and time. Even if you were tearing your hair out because Xander was simply referred to as ‘X’ in the first draft.
Thank you, Olivia for the cover art, you’ve made the whole process stress free. I gave you a bare bone description of the book and you turned that into a great cover!
I cannot forget the very supportive indie author support groups I belong to. I’ve been following all your journey’s as you’ve travelled the indie author trail before me, learning and letting us all know what does and doesn’t work. Your inspiration and support have allowed me to chase and live my life long dream. Thank you, ladies and gents!
To anyone who knows a writer, do not underestimate the power of your encouragement.
