Bones: The Black Cobra MC #4

There was nothing more I wanted right now than to remain here, amongst the people I felt most comfortable with. The people my brother Drake would have loved to get to know. And now I had Bones by my side, and I knew everything was going to be okay.

Grimm came up to me and we raised a toast, clinking our bottles of beer together.

“I wanted to personally invite you to our little family. In a few days, once you’ve settled in, I would like to officially offer you our protection and if you want to, we could even provide you with some training with weapons.”

My heart thudded loudly in my chest as I heard those words. Bones had walked over to me too and now he wrapped his arms around me as I stood there in front of Grimm, with tears in my eyes. I blinked them away and shook my head.

“Sorry, I’m not usually like this. I just…I just don’t know how to react. My brother Drake, this was what he wanted. He wanted to be a part of a club like this, to live and work with a brotherhood like yours and this is exactly what I’m getting to do. Trust me, these are happy tears,” I said with a chuckle. Bones kissed the top of my head and some of the guys around us who had overheard the conversation; clapped and cheered for me.

I looked up at Bones and he kissed me in front of everyone. He wasn’t ashamed of his feelings for me any longer and I wrapped my arms around him, and he lifted me up and swung me around to more cheers from his friends. From our friends.

I knocked my forehead against his.

“I hope you are finally able to forgive yourself too. I hope you can let go of the past with your sister too,” I told him as we swayed in each other’s arms for a while longer.

“I think it’s going to get easier for me in time. Now that I have you. Now that I know you are all I need and I’m going to keep you safe.”

We were smiling at each other again. This felt like pure bliss to me…and I hoped that was what it felt like to him too.

Everyone was celebrating around us. The Sons of Satan and Gunther were a thing of the past. It meant that the Black Cobras were going to be able to grow and get bigger and stronger now. Under Grimm’s leadership and with Cash, Patch and Bones by his side, there was nothing stopping them from achieving the kind of power and strength that they had in mind.

And I couldn’t wait to be a part of this. I had Bones by my side, and the rest of the club’s protection. Not only that but I finally had the ability and the motivation to move on from my past too. My life did not have to revolve around the vengeance of Drake’s death. I could purse my dreams of the culinary arts.

“What are you thinking?” Bones asked, interrupting my thoughts. I realized I was still swinging in his arms. I looked up at him and smiled.

“Just about how much I love you,” I told him, and we kissed.

  One Year Later

Thea was walking down the aisle towards me in a wedding dress she’d selected, and I hadn’t seen before for the sake of luck. But the truth was that I couldn’t have imagined her in anything different.

It was white and silk with lace but had a long trailing black leather jacket on top. The top fit her like a corset, with silver laces and silver gloves. Thea hadn’t grown her hair for the wedding either, except her pixie cut blond hair had dark highlights to match her wedding dress instead.

She looked beautiful; delicate and tough. Ready to take me on and the rest of the world. Just like I would expect her to.

I stood at the end of the aisle. The Church was silent as everyone turned to see Thea. Blown away by her beauty and her confidence as she started to walk towards me.

The orchestra played. We’d selected a choir for the wedding that belted out traditional wedding tunes; something nobody was expecting from us. Which was exactly what Thea wanted. She wanted everything about our wedding to be a complete surprise for everyone.

She was smiling now as she walked towards me. People were standing up, mesmerized and happy, exactly the way I was feeling too. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening. That I was getting married and that I was marrying a woman like her. The perfect match for me. A beautiful good woman I would want to take care of all my life.

Thea came to a stop beside me and the wedding ceremony began.

“Last chance to change your mind or else you’re stuck with me forever,” she leaned in to whisper and I smiled at her in response.

“There’s nothing more I want than to be stuck with you.”

  * * *

We were married and Thea was in my arms, swaying on the dance floor to tunes we’d handpicked for tonight.

It was still hard to imagine that just a year ago; I didn’t even know this woman. That I barely knew anything about any women, and now it felt like I knew her inside out. Like I knew her better than myself and I could say the same about her.

“I love you, woman,” I whispered in her ear as I held her close to myself. She pressed her cheek to my chest and mumbled a happy response. I kissed the top of her head. I knew she was thinking of her brother and wishing he was here to see this too. To share in our happy moment. I wished the same about my sister. But this was okay, this was good.

This was more than the best that could happen for us. We had each other.

“May I cut in?” I heard Cash’s voice behind me. Him and Patch were standing behind us with their own glasses in hand and smiling broadly. I stepped aside and Cash took Thea’s hand from mine and pulled her to himself so they could dance together.

I stepped aside and shook my head. Patch was smiling too. He thumped my shoulder and we walked a little to the side, bumping into people who were busy dancing on the floor.

“Good time to tell you what a lucky bastard you are?”

“I could say the same thing about you!” I remarked, indicating Samantha who was at the back of the dance floor, laughing and joking with a couple of our club friends.

“You’re right. We all got fuckin’ lucky,” he remarked, staring at his own woman with love. He looked over at me and sighed aloud.

“It’s crazy to think that we are actually responsible men with growing families of our own. That our lives involve more than just the club and each other!” he said with a laugh and I nodded my head in disbelief. He was right.

None of this made sense because none of this was supposed to be happening to us. I turned again to catch Thea still on the dance floor, dancing with Cash. I stared at her and Patch did the same.

“I’m taking your advice, man, I’m appreciating the fact that I have a good woman by my side. As fuckin’ crazy as it is,” I told him.

“And that we have no competition to worry about and our club is doubling in size and power,” he added. He was right about that too. With the Sons of Satan gone, there was nothing stopping us from expanding and growing more powerful. Conducting more business. Building more contacts and keeping the peace in our neighborhood. We were free to run things our own way and live by our own codes and in the past year, things had been running more peacefully than ever before.

Thea looked over and smiled at me while she danced with Cash. I winked at her and I knew she knew what that meant. This was the happiest day of my life and I couldn’t wait to start the rest of it with her.
