An hour later the two had gotten so wrapped up into their behavior that they had forgotten about the food delivery. There was a strong knock on the door. “You just lay here and look the way that you look. I’ll get it.” Kenisha leaped from the bed, put on her robe, grabbed her wallet and headed to the door. Taurus stared at the ceiling fan inhaling the sweet moment. The aroma of Asian inspired seasonings filled the air and she remembered how hungry she was. While Taurus was replacing her briefs and t-shirt preparing to walk into the kitchen, she heard Kenisha speaking with someone that didn’t sound like a delivery person. It sounded like an older woman. Taurus placed on her pants out of respect and began walking toward the other room. Before she could make it out of the bedroom she felt heaviness in her spirit. The mood had changed and there was tightness in the air. Taurus was hesitant to enter the next room for fear of what she would’ve seen. She prayed daily for God to give her strength to deal with her gift and He did, but it was never without the initial shock of what could be seen by man once the veil was broken. “I plead the blood of Jesus over me right now from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. If God be for me who can be against me? There is power in your name and commands made IN your name all things must obey. I pray a hedge of protection around Kenisha in Jesus name. I plead the blood of Jesus over her also. I bind…”

Taurus’ prayer was interrupted by Kenisha entering the room. “Whats wrong?” Kenisha was concerned to see Taurus standing in the middle of the room in her pants and t-shirt. “Who’s in the apartment?” Taurus asked.

“I’m sorry.” Kenisha explained. “When I was paying the delivery man my momma walked up. I’ve been ignoring her calls since my brother told her that he saw me and you together that night. I’m gonna try and get her to leave ok? ”

Taurus was shocked that this negative energy was carried by her mother. She didn’t want to say anything but she had learned from previous experiences that she only served one master. Taurus was being told to speak. It was echoing over and over again in her soul. “Speak! Speak!” Taurus obeyed and blurted out unapologetically. “Your momma’s spirit ain’t right!”

Kenisha was shocked. “What do you mean? That’s my momma!”

Taurus responded in a serious tone. “You wanted to know more about me, fine. I know when a spirit ain’t right. That’s my gift and I will leave this house and not look back girl. You are cute but not that cute. I know your spirit is right. I saw it earlier. But I haven’t even met your momma and I feel it from here. She needs to go! And you need to get prayed up because even though she may love you, whatever spirit that is that’s wreaking havoc on her, don’t mean you no good. Do you hear me?”

Kenisha felt a chill in her back. She wanted to take up for her momma, but she had to admit that she felt uneasy around her in her later years. Kenisha just couldn’t describe it. She felt obligated to visit and love her and sit around her but Kenisha couldn’t deny that she found comfort in not being around her momma.

“Now look. I’m gonna go in this room because God is telling me that He wants me to, and after she leaves and not a minute sooner, if you want me to follow her out the door, I will. But I’m gonna go speak to her spirit and not to her. You can have a seat in here or you can watch this happen because it is absolutely about to happen.”

Taurus turned from Kenisha and walked into the living room. Taurus turned her neck from side to side, stretching as if she was going into battle. She entered the room and stood 5 feet from Kenisha’s momma. The sight that God allowed Taurus to see was astounding. There her mother sat on the couch all wrapped up by spirits. The spirits were moving as dark colors. Each color was a different spirit restricting her. The spirits immediately recognized Taurus when they saw her.

Taurus began to speak to them. “I see your fear. Jesus, you know and Paul you know and because God is using me right now, I know you know ME too! So what is your name?!”

Although Taurus was speaking to the demonic spirits, Kenisha’s mother answered. “My name is Caroll and believe me I do not know you.” Taurus knew that the spirits heard her. “In Jesus name I command you to stand still and tell me your names right now!” The circling movements that kept Caroll bound stopped moving and Taurus could then see the presence of the spirits more vividly. Their images were ghastly. Only God caused her to keep going at that point. The spirits responded. “I am Envy.” Another said. “I am Judgment.” The other spoke. “I am Regret.” The last screamed to attempt to intimidate Taurus to no avail. “I AM BITTERNESS!” Now that Taurus knew who they were. She individually began casting them out.

“I bind you Demon Bitterness in the name Jesus and cast you back down to hell from which you came never to return to Caroll or Kenisha or to me again. You are not welcome here!” Caroll sat in one spot confused but silenced by the Holy Spirit. Taurus continued on. “I bind you Demon Envy in the name Jesus and cast you back down to hell from which you came never to return to Caroll or Kenisha or to me again. You are not welcome here! I bind you Demon Regret, in the name Jesus and cast you back down to hell from which you came never to return to Caroll or Kenisha or to me again. You are not welcome here!”

Suddenly Caroll jumped to her feet and spoke in a tone that was unrecognizable to Kenisha. “Oh how dare you cast ME out when you fornicated with her moments ago? You’ll probably do it again. God hates you for that. You should kill yourself for what you’ve done.”

“Momma!” Kenisha yelled. “SIT DOWN!” Taurus’ voice commanded in a more powerful unrecognizable tone.

At that moment, everything in that house obeyed and sat down; Caroll, the last remaining demon, Kenisha, and even the bags in the kitchen obeyed by leaning forward although no one could see them.

“Oh ye spirit of Judgment.” Taurus spoke with fearless authority for God controlled her. “Judge not, that you not be judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don’t notice the log that’s in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there’s a log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. SO! I bind you Demon Judgement in the name Jesus and cast you back down to hell from which you came never to return to Caroll or Kenisha or to me again. You are not welcome here!”

Kenisha felt the apartment shake as she sat on the floor. She didn’t see what Taurus saw. The demon began to scream at the Word of God quoted verbatim and the command to flee. Taurus watched as the binding spirits disintegrated before her eyes. She then began speaking directly to Caroll. “The meaning of your name Caroll in Scottish Gaelic is victorious warrior. In German and French it means free man. I’m just sayin’, if I was the devil I’d try to kill you too with a calling like that. Don’t give way for those spirits to come back and take hold of you again.”

Caroll as a believer understood what was happening. “But I go to church all the time. How is it that there were spirits binding me?” “You go into the church but has the church been in you? It takes more work than that. Don't just listen to God's word. You have to do what it says and invite God into your heart. Otherwise, you’re only fooling yourself. Now we’ll pray with you and then you need to go.” Taurus and Caroll and Kenisha held hands as Taurus led a prayer of thanksgiving and covering over them all, their houses and their lives. Caroll again, and this time wholeheartedly, invited God into her heart, and God accepted. Afterwards Caroll hugged Taurus and her daughter and left because Taurus told her to.

Kenisha was speechless. Who had she come into contact with? What kind of woman was this to cast out demons and have private conversations with God? She wanted to be taken away but how far had she been taken? Taurus reached out of her hand and led Kenisha to the kitchen where they sat and ate… in silence.

  Chapter 3: Hit the Brakes

  Kenisha

; Kenisha woke up well rested but full of questions. She rolled over and stared at a sleeping Taurus. She looked so peaceful. Kenisha learned the previous night that there was so much power in this woman. She recalled Taurus’ voice when she told them to sit down. Before Kenisha could think about it, her legs had obeyed. It was surreal. Kenisha always knew about the spirit world. Her momma brought her up in the church but that wasn’t something that her church taught about. It was probably because they were too busy spreading hate. Kenisha wanted to remember to tell her momma to change churches.

“She won’t do it. She won’t be faithful.” Taurus awoke and said.

“What? She won’t do what?” Kenisha was shocked out of her thoughts.

“You were thinking about your momma. You want her to change churches.” Taurus said as she turned to face Kenisha completely.

Kenisha was as red as an apple. She smiled in embarrassment. “How did you know that’s what I was thinking?”

“The Holy Spirit told me. It’s a gift. God controls it.” Taurus laughed. “I hope I didn’t scare you last night. Not that it would matter because I have to do what I’m told.” “No you didn’t scare me at all. I do think that we should slow down a bit though. There’s a lot that we need to know about each other. I know that we were gonna jump into this thing head first but with my momma having issues and you being one of God’s right hand men, we need to learn more so that we can be better equipped to deal with things when they arise.” Kenisha expressed her concern. “That’s fine as long as you aren’t stopping completely. I think we were just so eager for the possibility of something that we both had been waiting for. It doesn’t mean that we didn’t find it in each other. It just means that this opportunity still deserves to be nurtured right?” Taurus concluded.

“Right!” Kenisha agreed. “Do you know that I haven’t taken a day off of work other than my regular off days in over a year?” Taurus confessed. “You said that you wanted me to take you away. I heard you so that’s what I’m gonna do. I have more than 5 weeks of vacation days stored up and I’m gonna use some of them. We are gonna be on vacation together. Niagara Falls here we come.”

Kenisha had never been on a trip before. She was so excited that she jumped up out of the bed and did her happy chicken dance. Kenisha had always done the chicken dance when she was overly excited about something. She hadn’t done that dance since she’d found out that Old Navy jeans were sold in 2XL online. However that was a long time ago and Kenisha was a new size 14 with much more confidence and a new woman by her side, a God fearing woman. This was gonna be the best trip ever, especially because Kenisha didn’t have to pay for it.

  Taurus

Kenisha wanted a new experience. Taurus felt like she had been living up to that since she did kind of cast demons out of her house the other night, but Taurus wanted to give her better memories and better experiences. Taurus had never been to Niagara Falls and she always said that she wanted to take someone special. Who was more special than Kenisha?

Taurus went up to the job to let her boss know that she had decided to take a vacation. It was certainly last minute but because Taurus had always been available when they needed her, sometimes working so much that it violated labor laws, her boss wouldn’t hesitate to give her the green light. After saying that she found a new reason to take a vacation, Taurus’ manager was overjoyed to sign the vacation request. “It’s about time T. Go and have you some fun! If you need more time just send me an email and let me know.” Taurus was glowing as she went to grab a few things from her locker. It happened to be break time and the other machine operators were in the locker room. Some were going to lunch, others were changing shifts. The schedule for the machine operators was very different from the other side of the warehouse. “Hey T, how long are you gonna be off?” One of the workers asked.

“I don’t know. I’m going on vacation.” Taurus grinned with accomplishment.

“You know who else is on vacation right now?” Another worker questioned. “Hips!” “Who the hell is Hips?” Taurus laughed as she was moving things around in her locker.

“You know who Hips is dawg. Don’t play me. Kenisha!” The observant worker exclaimed. “I know that’s who you’re going on vacation with. Me and JJ saw ya’ll at the bowling alley a few nights back all up in each other’s faces.”

Taurus turned from the locker with a sly look. “I don’t know what ya’ll are talking about. It was just two coworkers having a drink.” “Yea, then what did the two coworkers do after that? That’s what we want to know?” JJ, a really loud mouth lesbian stud, was very close with Taurus. There had been some distance between the two of them since Taurus had gotten more into The Word and her purpose but they still hung out and remained very good friends. She was the leader of the nosey group in the locker room.

“We didn’t do anything afterwards. I just dropped her off at home.” Taurus said with a smile.

Michael, another machine operator that tends to joke a lot said, “So what you’re saying is that you gave her a RIDEEEEEE!” Everyone laughed and punched Taurus around with boy like pushes. With the peer pressure getting to her and the fact that she was proud to be spending time with Kenisha, Taurus finally released a statement. “We’re just hanging out. That’s all!” Taurus grabbed her bag from her locker and made for the door.

“That’s all we need!” Yelled Michael. “We can make up the rest.” The others laughed. “Let us know about the grip on the hips.” Yelled JJ.

“I ain’t telling you nothing!” Taurus yelled back as she made her way out of the side door to the parking lot.

  Chapter 4: Snitches

  Kenisha

“I’m going outtttttt of town. I’m going outttttttt of town.” Kenisha sang as she packed her clothes. “Ain’t told my mooooomma nothing. Ain’t told my mooooomma nothing. Cause I’m a grownnnnnn ass woman. I’m a grownnnnn ass woman.”

Kenisha was so excited that she had over packed by an entire suitcase. She didn’t know what to wear in Niagara Falls so she’d packed everything. While she was looking for a way to limit the packing there was a knock on the door.

After looking through the peephole Kenisha opened the door to let her younger brother Corey into the apartment. He immediately began looking around the rooms as if he was looking to find someone. “What are you looking for boy?” Kenisha asked.

“What are you packing for?” Corey asked as if he were her daddy.

“I’m going on a trip with my friend Taurus.” She said proudly.

“Yea, that’s what I came to talk to you about. I heard through the streets that this cat ain’t no good. Word is that the last broad that she was messing with, she almost killed her. And I know I got the right person cause that’s her name, Taurus. My homeboy used to live two houses down from her. Say she went bananas with a nail gun one day and the mailman heard her girlfriend screaming and ran in to help her. So I’ don’t think it’s a good idea to be keeping company with that type of person. I mean if you wanna be with a woman that’s fine. I love you regardless but I would hate to have to catch a case behind some crazy cat that don’t know her place with my family.” Corey stood strongly over his sister to let her know that he meant business.

Kenisha was yet again speechless. There was so much to know about that woman. On one hand she was the kind of woman that could speak and every thing and person in the vicinity of hearing would abide, but the person that her brother was talking about sounded like someone that Kenisha had never met.

“I didn’t know about any of that. I think I deserve to give her a chance to respond to it so I’m gonna take her some place in public and ask her about it. But call me later about 8pm to check on me. If I say the words easy breezy then you know it’s all good. If I pick up the phone and I say anything besides that, then you come and see about me. I’ll make sure the GPS on my phone is activated. You can still locate me right?” Kenisha asked her beloved brother.

“Yes ma’am. But hopefully she’ll be cool, but i
n case she’s not, keep the pepper spray in hands reach. Drive your own car since it’s out of the shop and pay attention to your surroundings.” Corey warned.

“Yes sir!” Kenisha laughed and gave a solute as she hugged her brother. After a tight embrace Corey was gone and Kenisha had more on her mind than 3 large bags of luggage.

  Taurus

Taurus was having one of the best days that she had experienced in a long time. She couldn’t help but listen to her favorite upbeat gospel songs while she packed her bags. The plane tickets were purchased so she and Kenisha had a flight the next day at 6am. Taurus had plans to pack her bags, head to Kenisha’s place, make love and enjoy each other’s company for the rest of the evening. When Taurus finished packing, she retreated downstairs to the kitchen to have a cold beer and get lost in her imagination. The phone rang with the special ring tone that Taurus had just hours earlier assigned to only Kenisha. “There goes my babyyyyy,” sang Usher Raymond on the telephone ringer. Taurus didn’t hesitate to answer the phone. She spoke with a happiness that she was so grateful for.
