Las Vegas Sidewinders: Jared

“I have to go call Zio back,” Daisy said. “He was on the phone while I was waiting for one of you to get here.” She turned and disappeared up the stairs.

“I mean it,” Renee said softly, moving closer to him. “Thank you.”

“Any time you need me, all you have to do is call,” he whispered, his face close to hers.

She stared into his handsome face, his dark, beautiful eyes, and wanted desperately to kiss him. She licked her lips, trying to refrain, but then his mouth covered hers and she gave in to the temptation. To him. She sank into his touch, closing her eyes against the pleasure it brought her. Their tongues curled deliciously, all tender passion and gentle reminders of everything they were together. His hands closed around the cheeks of her ass, massaging them as he kissed her, pulling her tight against him.

“I’ve missed you,” he said as they slowly pulled apart.

“I’ve missed you too.” She rested her palms flat against his chest.

“I want to throw you over my shoulder, tie you to my bed, and fuck you into the middle of next week,” he growled. “Why are we never alone?”

“Adulting is hard,” she said with a frustrated sigh.

“Would you let me?” he asked gruffly. “If Daisy wasn’t home, would you let me?”

  “Oh, yeah.”

His eyes glittered with intensity as he dug his fingers into the hair at the back of her neck. “I wish I knew what you wanted,” was all he said.

  “Me too.”

“When you figure it out, call me.”

“Okay.” She was breathless as he held her, his grip so firm it was borderline painful. But it wasn’t. It was sexy and turned her on to the point she almost kissed him again.

“I have to go.” He pressed his lips to hers roughly, taking her mouth in the most erotic kiss she’d ever shared with anyone. So intensely raw her lips stung when he moved away. “If that asshole shows up again, call me. I can be here in two minutes.”

  “I will.”

“Make sure the alarm is set.”

  “I will.”

“I’ll see you soon.” And then he was gone.

Frustration wasn’t the word Renee would have used to describe how she felt after Jared left. She went through the motions of unpacking, throwing in a load of laundry, taking a shower and finding something to eat. Daisy was still on the phone with Zio and she didn’t even have the patience to sit down at her computer. She was lonely and horny and stupidly confused.

She knew exactly what she wanted but was too afraid to go after it. Admitting her feelings for Jared meant taking on a whole new set of responsibilities that terrified her. She was lonely sometimes, but she liked her life. Most of the time. Except when she couldn’t sleep, which was always. And when Daisy was gone. Which was also almost always now.

Having a little one around the house wouldn’t be so bad, would it? He had a nanny, after all, and it wasn’t like she’d be getting up for midnight feedings or changing diapers. He’d lost his mother and she hadn’t always been able to enjoy being one because she’d been too busy trying to survive when Daisy was small. And if she did it this time, she wouldn’t be doing it alone because she would have Jared.

  Right?

The indecision was making her crazy and she suddenly ran down the stairs, sliding her feet into a pair of flip-flops by the front door. She threw it open and ran right smack into Ben.

“Jesus fucking Christ,” she hissed. “What the hell are you doing?”

“Now that your bodyguard is gone, I’m going to finish what I started,” he snapped, pushing past her into the house.

“Daisy! Call 9-1-1!” Renee yelled, running after him.

“Mom, what—” Daisy opened the door of her bedroom, let out a squeak when she saw Ben coming up the stairs and slammed it shut again, locking it behind her.

Renee turned and ran to the kitchen where she’d left her phone, dialing Jared. “He’s here, he got in the house,” she panted as he answered.

“I’m coming!” He disconnected and she scanned the room for a weapon. A knife was too dangerous—Ben was strong enough to turn it on her. Then she saw one of her cast iron skillets and grabbed it, running back up the stairs to where Ben was throwing his shoulder against Daisy’s door.

Renee didn’t know what she was doing, but she ran at him and brought the skillet down on his head just as Jared burst through the front door. Ben collapsed with a grunt and she stepped back, breathing hard.

“Renee!” Jared took the stairs three at a time.

“I’m okay,” she gasped, reaching for him. He wrapped his arms around her while placing his foot on Ben’s chest, effectively keeping him down though he was groaning and not moving very quickly.

  “D-daisy,” she whispered.

“Daisy, it’s okay, hon, you can come out,” Jared called to her.

The door slowly opened and Daisy peeked out.

“Call the police,” Renee said. “This ends now.”

Daisy hurriedly did as she was told.

It took a couple of hours for the police to come, take statements from them, and arrest Ben. Luckily, Renee’s surveillance camera caught him forcing his way in on video so there was no doubt he’d pushed her out of the way without invitation. There were forms to be filled out and questions to be answered, repeatedly, until everyone finally left and they were alone.

“I just don’t understand why you opened the door,” Jared said to Renee.

She cocked her head. “I didn’t. I mean, I did, but I was leaving the house and the timing sucked because he was right there.”

“Why would you go out the front door? Don’t you usually go out through the garage to your car?”

“Yes, but I was going to walk to your house.”

“To my house?” He looked at her in confusion. “Why?”

“Because I figured out what I want.”

  38

“That’s my cue,” Daisy said, standing up. “I’m going to bed. You two should, like, try not to make too much noise.”

Renee opened her mouth but closed it again, because Daisy was right that they were most likely going to end up in bed. Well, if she had anything to say about it.

“What did you make up your mind about?” he asked, pulling her onto his lap.

  “You. Me. Us.”

“That’s good because I was at home working up the nerve to come fight for you—for us.”

  “Fight for me?”

“Isn’t that what Petra wanted?” His eyes met hers.

“I-it was.” She swallowed. “But I’m not Petra.”

“So that’s not what you wanted?”

  “I… Yes, maybe.”

“I was coming over to tell you how I feel and do whatever I needed to do to make things work.”

  “How you feel?”

“I love you. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted and more. I want you to be part of my life, and Braden’s. I’ll do my best to make sure he doesn’t interfere with your work if you can—”

“He won’t.” She put her fingers over his lips. “We’ve got Dot and, to be honest, a lot of my reluctance was about the past. Remember, I raised Daisy mostly on my own. We didn’t have any serious money until about six years ago. When Billy died, I worked two jobs to pay the bills and, even then, we barely survived. Every time she needed new sneakers or braces or whatever, it put me in a tailspin. I was always afraid that something would happen I couldn’t pay for, or that I’d make a parenting mistake that would ruin her life. It was all fear, all the time, so I didn’t get to enjoy being a mom.”

“Oh, baby, I hate that for you.”

“Now that I’m older, I can see it more clearly, but for a long time all I could think of was what a hassle it would be to have another baby, to go through all that fear again.”

“You’ll never be alone again, not as long as I’m still breathing.” He pressed his lips to hers.

“Were you really trying to work up the nerve to come back over?” S
he spoke against his mouth.

  He nodded.

“What were you going to say?”

“That I love you, that I’ve been miserable since we moved out, and that I’ll do whatever it takes to get you to give us a chance.”

“I just needed to know you felt the same way,” she admitted. “I was afraid I was going to make all the sacrifices and you didn’t love me back.”

“I knew that in the back of my mind, but there’s been so much going on I didn’t know how to sort it all out in my head.”

  “Take me to bed, Jared.”

“Here?” He glanced up in the direction Daisy had gone.

“You’re going to be moving back in, so she’s going to have to get used to it when she’s home.”

“I’m moving back in?” he teased.

  “Take. Me. To. Bed.”

While she would have loved for him to make good on his earlier threat to throw her over his shoulder, that would have to wait until they were alone. Making love behind locked doors was one thing, but manhandling her where her daughter might see was something else. They’d undoubtedly get caught doing something they shouldn’t at some point, but not now, and not like this. Instead, he took her by the hand and led her up the stairs and into the room that would be theirs again very soon.

He locked the big double doors behind him and reached for her. “So many things I want to do to you,” he murmured, pressing his lips against the soft spot behind her ear. “But not with Daisy in the house.”

“There will always be people in the house,” she protested.

“Not always.” He pushed her against the doors, pinning her in place with his larger body as he kissed her.

“Braden won’t leave for college for years…” she murmured, goose bumps breaking out on her skin.

“Hotels.” He pressed a line of kisses along her jaw. “Road trips.” He slid his hands beneath her T-shirt. “My office.”

“Your office?” she breathed, a tiny moan escaping as he lowered his mouth to her breast and nudged the fabric of her bra aside.

“I really want to fuck you in the locker room,” he whispered. “It was always my fantasy when I was a player.”

“Mmm-kay.” She shuddered as he sucked her nipple deep in his mouth.

“But tonight I’m going to savor every inch of you.” He kneaded her ass with his hands, moving his mouth to her other breast as he licked and nibbled. Somehow, amidst the kissing and touching, he managed to slide down her shorts and panties, leaving her half-naked and completely at his mercy.

“Take them off,” he ordered, stepping back, his dark eyes gleaming. “I want you naked.”

She tugged off the T-shirt and bra, dropping them shamelessly as she stood before him.

“You’re fucking beautiful,” he rasped, tracing circles around one of her nipples with his forefinger.

“Why are you still dressed?” she whispered.

  “Undress me.”

She pulled his T-shirt over his head and buried her face against his chest, licking his nipple before giving it a teasing little bite.

“Yeah, baby, keep that up and I’m going to make good on the second part of my promise.”

“Uh-huh.” She dropped to her knees and unzipped his shorts, tugging at both the shorts and his boxers until they slid down and he kicked them free of his body. His cock was hard and proudly erect, making her mouth water.

“Oh, baby, you kill me when you do this…” He groaned. “You’re so fucking good at it.”

“I know.” She sucked him deep, without much finesse, wanting to feel as much of him as possible and to make him feel good. When she felt the tip hit the back of her throat, he dug his long fingers into her hair, holding her firmly as he pumped in and out.

“God damn, Renee, how the hell do you not gag?” He pushed even deeper and her eyes watered a little, but she opened wider and let him fuck her mouth until his warm semen dripped down her throat.

She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand as she rose to her feet, but she barely had time to move before he grabbed her by the hips and lifted her into the air. Her breath escaped in a whoosh as he pushed her against the wall and his semi-erect cock pressed against her thigh. She wrapped her legs around him and closed her eyes, completely enthralled with his touch.

This time when he kissed her, she felt the intensity and strength of his emotions. It was so sweet and tender her knees probably would have buckled had he not been holding her up. Her insides burned for him, needing him in a way she’d never needed anyone before. This was so much more than sex, than having an orgasm, it was as necessary as taking her next breath.

“Can’t believe I’m already hard again,” he said, reaching down to line his cock up at her wet, welcoming entrance.

  “Oh, please,” she moaned.

“I don’t have a condom,” he said softly.

  “I’m on the pill.”

  “You’re sure about this?”

“Yes. Please, Jared. I need you.”

He thrust up and in with a firm but gentle motion that left him fully sheathed inside of her. In that moment, everything stopped. There was no sound but their beating hearts, no movement but their breathing, and nothing but the sweetness of their joined bodies. Her eyes opened and she found herself staring into his.

“This right here,” he said, his voice thick with passion, “is what I’ve been waiting for. You, me, this.”

“Me too.” She rocked her hips forward, changing the angle and crying out from the pleasure that rocketed through her.

“Your pussy is so fucking sweet,” he groaned. “I can feel you clamping around me. Milk it, darlin’, make me come again.”

Having him inside of her felt so right she couldn’t even think anymore, everything lost to what he was doing to her. When he started to move he didn’t just make love to her, he marked her from the inside, his engorged cock thrusting hard and deep, bottoming out each time as she bounced on top of him. Every stroke drove her further and further out of control, lost in a sort of bliss she’d never experienced before.

“Jared, please!” She forgot about Daisy and everything else. She was reduced to nothing but this moment in time. Their bodies slapped together as their lovemaking became more frantic, wilder than any other before this. When she felt him swelling even larger, she dug her nails into his shoulder. “Harder.”

He gave her everything, rough and intimate and tender and wild, until everything went blank and her entire body began to shudder. Her climax started low in her belly, building up gradually as he reached behind her to finger her back hole. That was the last straw, her body unable to take so much exquisite ecstasy. She exploded around him, her pussy convulsing and drawing him deeper inside of her. Each wave crested and fell, an endless pattern of pleasure that wouldn’t stop.

No sooner had her first orgasm started to subside than the next one began to build. Her entire body trembled as the most spectacular orgasms of her life continued to rock her, over and over, until she was breathless. When he came deep inside of her, it set off another round of convulsions that were so strong it was more than she could stand, and she thrashed from the intensity, wanting more and wanting it to end at the same time.

“Jesus, Renee, fuck me, baby!” His words were dirty but his voice was sensual, the sexiest thing she’d ever heard as he whispered her name over and over.

  39

For a long time neither of them moved. He finally set her on her feet and when he pulled out, their combined juices ran down her leg.

“I need a shower.” She laughed into his chest.

“Let’s do that,” he agreed, wrapping an arm around her as they walked into the bathroom.

He’d had a lot of great sex in his life, but nothing like this. Carnal yet tender, raw yet loving, and those multiple orgasms of hers were enough to blow his mind in ways he hadn’t thought possible.

“You really haven’t had those multiple orgasms before?” he asked as the water sluiced over the
m.

She shook her head. “Nope. Never. Until you.”

“I like that.” He ran his hands through her wet hair. “In fact, I love it. Will you marry me, Renee?”

“What?” She blinked water out of her eyes.

“Like as soon as possible, before hockey season starts.”

“I…” She stared at him. “Because I have multiple orgasms?”

He laughed though he was shaking his head. “Because I want us to be a family. I want you at my side forever, so I can protect you and love you and help you sleep. So you can remind me of all the wonderful things we have and keep me grounded when I get a little crazy with hockey. So maybe someday Daisy might ask me to walk her down the aisle and Braden might ask if he can call you Mom.”

Tears were spilling down her cheeks as she said yes and he kissed her for what seemed like the thousandth time tonight.

Later, as they lay in bed, bodies intertwined, her silky hair draped over his arm, she said, “I don’t want a big wedding.”

  “No?”

She shook her head. “What I want is a honeymoon.”

  He chuckled.

“No, I’m serious. I had a nice wedding. Not a huge one, but the best my parents could afford. I did the white dress and the first dance and all that. But we couldn’t afford a honeymoon and that’s what I want this time.”

He grimaced. “Babe, I have plenty of money but I don’t have a lot of time.”

“I know, so if we have to wait until next summer—”

“Oh, hell no.” He shook his head. “I’ll figure it out. It won’t be a long one, but I’ll talk to Pierre and my coaching staff and see what I can do. Maybe five or six days?”

  “That works for me.”

“I don’t want a big wedding either, but I’d like Braden to be my best man, even if we elope.”

“Sure. And Daisy will be my maid of honor.”

“We’ll have to do it soon.”

“I want to invite some friends. Nothing big, but a handful of the people important to us.”
