First Class to Portland Page 8

Traffic was crazy and it took a while to get to Matt’s apartment but Janie didn’t mind. She squeezed his hand every time she saw something she recognized from her last trip.

Matt just sat back and watched her; overjoyed she had agreed to come.

His cell phone buzzed and he reluctantly pulled it from his pocket and chuckled when he read the text message.

“It’s from Mark,” he told Janie. “We are invited to church and to dinner on Sunday. Well, expected really.”

“Of course we will go. Won’t we?”

  “Sure we will,” Matt smiled.

Ray pulled the beamer in front of Matt’s apartment building and got out and started retrieving their suitcases. Matt helped Janie from the car and the doorman greeted him by name. Janie remembered him.

“Eddie, this is Janie Anderson. She is staying with me. Please treat her as a permanent guest of mine.”

Janie’s eyebrows raised but Eddie just smiled and nodded and helped Ray with the luggage.

Matt tugged her to the elevator and the doors opened as soon as he pushed the button. They stepped inside and Matt inserted his keycard into the wall panel and the doors shut.

“I have one of these for you.”

  “Oh,” she said. “Why?”

“So you can come and go as you please,” he said. “I will try to avoid the office as much as possible, but I will be gone a little bit and I want you to feel free to do as you like.”

The doors opened and they walked down the hall to Matt’s apartment. He unlocked the door and led her in.

  “Welcome home,” he said.

Janie looked at him, confused, but didn’t say anything because Ray and Eddie appeared in the hallway with the luggage. They left it just inside the door.

Matt thanked them both and told Ray he didn’t need him anymore, but that he needed to head to office at nine the following morning.

He locked the door behind them and followed Janie to the wall of windows.

“This view is breathtaking,” she gushed.

“Yes, it is,” said Matt as he nuzzled the back of her neck.

“I’d like to freshen up a bit,” she laughed, pulling out of his embrace.

“Ok,” Matt frowned, but laughed. “Let’s get your stuff settled.”

He grabbed the luggage and hauled it through the massive great room to his bedroom at the other end of the apartment. He started for the bathroom and Janie stopped him.

  “Where are you taking that?”

  “To the closet.”

  “It’s in the bathroom?”

Matt looked at her and shook his head. “Do you need another tour?”

She followed him through the bathroom to a door that opened into a sprawling closet.

“I didn’t know this was here,” she gawked. It was bigger than her bedroom and master bath combined. And half of it was empty.

“Here you go,” he grinned. “All yours.”

Janie laughed loudly. “Well I have enough stuff to fill about five percent of this space.”

Matt kissed her forehead and left the room. “I’ll leave you to it,” he said over his shoulder as he walked through the bathroom.

Janie stood in awe of the room. She wandered over to Matt’s clothes, hanging perfectly. There must be thirty suits here! It was orderly and shirts were hung by color and style. There was a rack of perfectly polished shoes and dresser that held underwear, socks and gym clothes in it. She knew because she peeked inside. She opened her suitcases and hung up her clothes on the cedar hangers, leaving her lingerie and shoes in the bags.

Placing her toiletry bag on the counter in the bathroom, she wondered if Matt would mind. She took care of business and went to find Matt.

He was sitting at the bar pushing buttons his phone.

“I got you a beer,” he smiled as he saw her appear.

“Thank you,” she grinned. She had removed her shoes and padded across the marble floor barefoot.

Janie plopped on the stool next to him and took a long drink.

“Do you have plans for the rest of the day?” she asked.

“Just spending it with you,” he grinned. “What would you like to do?”

“Would you mind if we stayed in?”

“You read my mind.” That devilish grin was back.

  “Do you have food here?”

“Not much,” he admitted. “Give me a list and Eddie can order it.”

  “Groceries?” she asked.

“Yes, groceries,” he chuckled. “Are you going to cook again? I liked it when you made breakfast for me.”

“I’ll need paper and a pen,” she said.

Matt obliged and she made a list for him. He called Eddie and then slid the list under the front door.

“It should arrive in a couple of hours,” he said.

Janie shook her head, not believing it was that simple. “So we have time for a shower then?”

  *****

Inside the luxurious master bathroom, Matt picked up the remote control and turned on the shower, setting the temperature and the heads.

“That would have been nice to have,” Janie muttered, remembering the confusion of trying to get water to appear the last time she was in Matt’s apartment.

Matt chuckled and put the remote and a wrapped condom on the small shelf just outside the shower and kicked off his shoes. He sat on the chair at the vanity and removed his socks, Janie watching every move.

“You really do have nice feet,” she giggled. “I have never known anyone to have nice feet, but you do.”

Matt shook his head and threw his socks on the floor. He stood and pushed the chair back under the counter. “I guess that’s your chair,” he said.

  “My chair?”

“Yeah, it’s a makeup vanity and as I don’t wear makeup I guess it’s your chair,” he stated.

Janie stepped over to Matt and pulled his shirt up and over his head. “It’s your chair, but thank you for letting me use it while I’m here,” she grinned. She placed her hands on his hard chest and felt the muscles under her palms. She leaned in and placed small kisses where her hands had been and savored his taste. Matt pulled her closer and she lifted her face to him, offering her mouth for the taking. Matt took advantage and ravished her, exploring every part of it with his tongue.

Steam began to fill the room and Janie stepped back, catching her breath and said, “We’re wasting water!”

Matt grinned and undid the button on her Capri shorts and then worked on his own jeans. As Janie was about to remove her bra, Matt stopped her by grabbing her arms.

“Let me do it,” he whispered, leaning in and kissing her shoulder.

Janie’s breath hitched at his request. Something as simple as unhooking a couple of hooks seemed so erotic to her and she stood very still as Matt’s hands caressed her back, making their way up to the strap. He gently unhooked it and pulled it from her shoulders, exposing her breasts to him. They had made love many times and he had seen her naked all those times, but Janie was still very self-conscious about her body. She could feel herself blushing.

Matt pushed her lace panties down her thighs and she kicked them off her feet. He made quick work of his briefs and then pulled her by the hand into the hot water falling from the rain head. Their bodies wet, he pulled her to him and again ravaged her mouth, the water cascading over them.

Janie pulled back and leaned for the soap, lathering it in her hands and then placing them on his chest, rubbing in circular motions.

“That doesn’t work,” she laughed as the water washed all the suds immediately away. “So much for an erotic scrub down?”

Matt grinned and reached for the remote control. Making some adjustments, the water overhead stopped and the side jets began shooting water at different angles.

“Problem solved,” he grinned. “Now, about that erotic scrub down.”

Janie reached for the soap again and re-lathered her hands. She washed his torso and his arms and his legs and sa
ved his growing erection for last. She caressed and squeezed and made sure every inch was clean. Matt’s teeth gritted and he closed his eyes, fighting for control as he hardened under Janie’s touch. After an eternity, she released him and ordered him to turn around and allowed the water to rinse away the soap, her hands all over his body. Then she washed his back and his ass and his legs and Matt leaned his arms on the wall as he enjoyed her hands all over him. Janie stepped the side and allowed the spray from behind her to reach him, as it washed the lather down his back and his legs and swirled around his feet at the drain. She admired his back and leaned over him, her breasts pushed firmly against his skin as she kissed him down his spine.

“Mmmm,” she moaned, as she pulled away. “You are drop-dead gorgeous, you know.”

Matt turned to her and pulled her to him, crushing her breasts to his chest, his hands on her ass, pulling her into his erection. He kissed her hard and Janie could feel his desire.

As quickly as he pulled her to him, he pushed her back as his graveled voice said, “My turn!”

Matt picked up the soap and lathered his hands and began at her neck and over her shoulders and down her arms. He washed her belly and her hips and her thighs. He ordered her to lean against the wall and lifted each leg one at a time and watched her feet, her ankles and calves. And he caressed her legs upwards and up until he stopped at her pubic hair and he rubbed and caressed and pushed her legs apart giving him full access.

Janie closed her eyes and leaned her head back on the wall as Matt used his thumb on her nub and rubbed and then entered her; one finger and then two. Janie gasped and his hand rubbed and massaged and drove her wild and then without warning she exploded, coming quickly and almost violently as she gripped his arm and held him still while her muscles spasmed and convulsed around his fingers.

Matt leaned in to her, his fingers still inside her. “I’m so glad you wanted to take a shower,” he breathed into her neck as he kissed her.

Janie opened her eyes and spoke softly. “I don’t know how you do that to me!”

Matt grinned. “I can do it again,” and his fingers started to move in and out.

Janie grinned. “I understand the mechanics,” she said. “Just not how you make me, umm, go, so quickly.”

Matt smiled and kissed her on the lips. “Your body responds to me like nothing I have experienced before,” he whispered. “It’s amazing.”

“You’re not kidding,” she breathed. “I’ve never, well, it was always, umm, it took work before,” she blushed.

“This should never be considered work!” Matt grinned, as he removed his hand. He took the condom from the shelf and unwrapped it. Janie took it from his hand and placed it on the head of his penis and rolled it down over the length of him.

Matt grabbed her hips and lifted her up to him, ordering her to wrap her legs around his hips, which she did, her back flat against the wall. He lifted her up and then she sank down onto him, filling her completely, satisfying his desire to be inside her. He moved in and out and in no time at all Matt threw his head back and groaned as his orgasm ripped through him. Janie clung to his shoulders, feeling him pulsing inside her, her heart overflowing for love for him.

  *****

Janie fell asleep in Matt’s arms and awoke in Matt’s arms. I could get very used to this, she thought. It was still early, not light yet, and she tried very hard not to wake him as she wriggled carefully from the bed. Tiptoeing to the bathroom, she silently closed the door and was only in there for a minute or two before she tiptoed back out. She stood at the windows, looking at the dawning sky, staring at the Statue of Liberty far out in the harbor. She wrapped her arms around herself as she recalled the last time she was here in Matt’s bedroom, wondering how they could ever make this relationship work with them living three thousand miles apart. Could it work?

Her thought was interrupted by warm arms enveloping her and warm lips nuzzling her neck.

  “Morning,” his voice gravelly.

“Hi,” she grinned covering his hands with her own. “I was just admiring your view.”

“I was admiring my view too,” he chuckled. “Do you mind if I hit the gym for a bit?”

  “Of course not.”

“I have to leave for the morning,” he frowned. “I am hoping to be done after lunch. What would you like to do today?”

“Do you mind if I just stay here?”

“Sure. Consider this your home. You can do whatever you’d like.”

Matt let go of her and headed for the bathroom. He didn’t shut the door and Janie was shocked he was so comfortable around her. He flushed, rinsed his hands and disappeared into the closet. Janie realized she was standing at the window start naked and followed him to get her robe. He was already in some gym shorts and t-shirt.

“Do you want to work out with me?” he asked, slipping on athletic socks.

Janie all but choked as she roared with laughter. “It is on my list,” she admitted, “but I am not a real athletic kind of girl.”

  “What list?” Matt was curious.

“I made a list before I went home last time of the things I needed to accomplish to get on with my life, and working out was on it, but I haven’t really done much with it.”

“What else was on your list?”

“Oh, well, selling the truck, which I did, and purging all of my stuff, which I did, and selling the house, which it looks like I’ve done too.”

“It sounds like you’ve been very productive in just a couple of weeks.”

“Yeah, well I had to keep busy,” she frowned.

Matt tied his shoelace and stood, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into his embrace.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered into her hair.

“I know. Me too. But we don’t have to think about that now, right,” she said full of hope for the future.

  “No, we don’t,” he agreed.

  *****

Mark was stunned as he looked at the box in Matt’s hand, his mouth open in obvious shock.

  “Wow.”

“Do you think she’ll like it?” Matt asked.

“How did we go from last week to this week, so quickly?” Mark responded.

“I realized what I want and I’m not going to wait to get it,” he said.

“Well good for you, I guess.”

Their meeting with the inspector had gone well and all was on schedule for the Harlem condo project. Matt and Mark had spent several hours answering a multitude of questions, reviewing blueprints, and accompanied him on an in-depth tour. Matt was definitely glad he had returned and even happier that Janie had agreed to come with him. Now all that was left was the big day he had planned for her tomorrow.

“She doesn’t know that you know it’s her birthday?”

  “Nope!” Matt grinned.

  “Good luck, bro!”

  7.

Saturday came and Janie and Matt spent a leisurely morning in bed and when they finally got up, Janie made them brunch. After cooking a few meals in his kitchen, Janie was really enjoying the state of the art equipment and thinking in her new house she needed to splurge on the appliances.

As they finished eating and Janie was clearing the dishes, her cell phone rang. She smiled when she saw it was Tyler and answered quickly. They chatted for a few moments and then she went back to the dishes. A couple of minutes later, it rang again, this time Adam. They spoke briefly, as Adam was working, but didn’t want to forget to call her. Janie returned to rinsing the dishes and putting them in the dishwasher.

Matt watched her as she spoke with each of her sons. She was very careful not to give away that today was her birthday. He smiled to himself hoping he was going to blow her away with his surprise later in the day.

By the time her phone rang for the third time, she looked as though she was a tad flustered. This time it was Katy, and Janie excused herself and went and hid in the bedroom for their conversation, so Matt finished loading the dishwasher and wiped down the
breakfast bar.

A couple of hours later, they sat on the couch watching the Yankees game on the TV. They weren’t playing at home otherwise they could have gone to the game Matt had explained. Janie was completely content to snuggle up to him on the sofa and watch it with him. It was so very domestic.

Before the eighth inning had begun, Matt stood and stretched.

“I was thinking dinner out tonight. How does that sound?”

“Okay,” replied Janie, although she was perfectly happy to stay in.

“I know this great chef who has offered to make us dinner.”

Janie was intrigued. “Does he have his own restaurant in the city?”

“He does,” replied Matt. “Shall we get dressed?”

“What about the game?” Janie asked.

“I think this will be more fun,” he winked and pulled her from the sofa.

  *****

Ray pulled into the harbor pier parking lot and Janie was very confused. She looked out trying to find the restaurant Matt had said they were going to.

Matt opened the door for her and helped her out of the car. She was wearing her black jeans and heeled pumps and her blue sequined tank top, with the Tiffany bracelet dangling on her wrist. She had straightened her hair again and was feeling pretty good about how she looked as they had left the apartment, but now she was worried about where they were actually going.

Matt held her hand as he led her through the rows of boats. Yachts! she reminded herself and tried to find Ryan and Courtney’s boat, assuming that’s where they were headed. But it was just starting to get dark and Janie couldn’t locate it.

Matt finally stopped in front of a beautiful yacht, smaller than Courtney’s but still very impressive. There were lights shining through the windows and Matt stepped aboard and helped her on to the deck.

“This isn’t the same boat we went out on,” she looked at Matt looking for an answer. “And you said we were going to a restaurant.”

“No, I said a great chef was going to make us dinner,” he grinned. “And Courtney’s dad has taken the yacht to the Mediterranean for the summer. So this will have to do.” He winked at her.
