“Were you hiding those in your vag?” I ask. “I may not know much about pussies, but your phone seems a little big to be shoving up your snatch.”

“That’s what boobs are for,” she slurs. “To hold stuff. Like an extra pocket.”

“Another one of life’s mysteries explained. Thanks, MiMi.”

I turn her to face me, allowing my eyes to roam down her body. My heart does a flop inside my chest as I admire her curvy body. Tits normally don’t do shit for me. Mia’s intrigue me. I have the insane urge to taste each nipple. My dick thickens and I thank every god in existence for the fact it’s working.

Now’s not the time to consider if I can actually ever fuck Mia. Right now, I need to care for my girl. I snag my toothbrush and toothpaste from the holder on the way to the shower. Once inside, I lead her under the spray. She sighs, tilting her head up as the water drenches her face and hair. With her eyes closed and the water sluicing down her tits, I decide I really, really like her tits. Her nipples are hard, just begging to be bitten.

  Love knows no labels.

  Maybe Drew was right.

Before my mind can drift to Drew and his naked body, I focus on my girl. I squirt some toothpaste on my brush and then grip her now clean chin.

“Open up, MiMi. I need to wash that expensive mistake out of your mouth.”

She opens her big brown eyes and parts her lips. Jesus. I love this girl. I want her and need her. I can’t believe I ever doubted it.

I brush her teeth for her, enjoying immensely how cute she is foaming at the mouth. Once I’ve scrubbed her clean, I lead her back under the spray. As she rinses, I drop the toothbrush on a shelf and grab the bar of soap. My hands are eager to clean her, but she’s drunk and I don’t want her to be pissed later. Instead of touching her like I want, I hand her the bar of soap.

Sloppily she cleans her body while I shampoo her hair. My dick is hard, much to my delight, as I wash the puke out of her hair. She turns to face me, the soap slipping from her grip and hitting the floor with a thud.

“Ashton,” she whimpers. “Why am I not enough?”

I rinse the shampoo out and then grip her hair, tilting her face up to look at me. My lips press to her forehead, then her nose, and finally her lips.

“Mia,” I rumble. “You’re more than enough. You’re too much. I don’t deserve one sliver of you, but I need you all the same.”

Her lips part and I kiss her. Softly. Gentle at first. And then my tongue is greedily lashing against hers. She slides her soapy palms up my chest to my shoulders, her body pressing against my front. Her tits are firm and an odd sensation pushed against me, but one I like. My dick is stone against her stomach.

The urge to grip her ass and lift her is strong.

I could fuck her right now.

I’m hard. I could do it. I know I could.

But the first time I attempt this with Mia, it needs to be once we’ve cleared the air between us. She’s drunk and I would die if she regretted this in the morning.

  Don’t be destructive, Ashton.

Think of your girl, not your dick for once.

“Let’s get you dried off and into bed, baby. You need sleep,” I murmur against her lips. “In the morning we can talk.”

She nods. “Thank you for rescuing me.”

  “I’ll always rescue you, Mia.”

Her groan wakes me up. The room is still dark, but dawn is creeping into my bedroom. I roll over onto my side, staring at her pretty face that’s barely visible in the dim light. A dark, still-damp tendril of hair is draped across her face. I gently brush it away.

“Morning,” she murmurs, her eyes opening just a bit. “Is this a dream?”

“Hmm,” I tease. “I’d call it more of a fantasy. Some hot swimmer rescues you from a pedophile bartender and wicked sorority sister and bathes you after you showered yourself in two-thousand-dollar gin. Are you into it?”

She scrunches her face. “Yuck. That’s more like a nightmare.”

“Which part?” I murmur, dragging my thumb along her jaw.

“Maybe not the naked shower part with the hot swimmer.” Her smile undoes me. “Definitely the barf part, though. Yuck. You hate puke.”

“But I love you,” I tell her, no longer joking. My voice drips with conviction. “You know that, right?”

Her head nods as tears well in her eyes.

“Mia,” I murmur. “I’m so fucking sorry. For everything. I’ve acted like a total asshole and it’s unforgivable. I swear, I can be better than this. For you. You have to let me try, because if you don’t, what the fuck am I even living this life for?”

She blinks hard, sending tears skating down her temples. “Don’t talk like that.”

“It’s true,” I say with a sigh. “My life is a fucking mess. My parents hate me and I have no friends because I’m a difficult piece of shit. Somehow, I got you. Like the universe forgot it was supposed to punish me, but tossed me a reward instead. And, as you know, I’m spoiled and wanted what it gave me. I wanted you.”

Her sob guts me. Tears a hole inside my chest, stealing not just a part of my soul, but all of it. I want to make it better. I want to heal her. I want to make her smile and laugh and be fucking happy.

  I want her.

My lips press to hers for a chaste kiss and she whimpers.

  “Ashton…”

“Mia, listen,” I whisper against her lips. “I wanted you as my friend, so I thought. I wanted your light brightening my dark world. I just wanted you. But then you kissed me and I realized I wanted you in more ways I didn’t realize I could have you. I’m greedy as fuck, baby. It’s been a mental adjustment, but I’m getting there. I’ve made some terrible mistakes concerning you, but I will always try to undo them or get better when it comes to you. You have to believe me. I’d never hurt you on purpose.”

This time, when I kiss her, her fingers thread into my hair, deepening our kiss. I want to throw out a morning breath joke, but now’s not the time to be playful. If I’m willing to swim through puke for her, I’ll kiss her when we both need to brush our teeth, because when it’s the one you love, you’ll do whatever it fucking takes to have time with them.

“I like you in my clothes,” I murmur, my hand skating up under her shirt to feel the tit I wanted to touch last night. “I think I like you out of them better, though.”

Her laugh is pure gold—honest and sweet. “Do you use that pickup line a lot? Because even though it’s corny as hell, it’s oddly magical.”

“Funny,” I tease as I pinch her nipple, “no one’s ever called my dick oddly magical before.”

“I was talking about you, not your dick.”

I nip at her bottom lip, loving the gasp that escapes her when I pull at her nipple. “Know what else is oddly magical about me?”

  “What?”

  “My mouth.”

Her eyebrow arches up. “Ashton, what are we doing?”

I pull away from her, sitting up on my knees. My dick is hard and straining against my boxers. Her eyes slide over my bare chest, lingering on my nipple ring.

“We’re doing what feels right, Mia. No labels, just us.”

Her eyes widen when I pull my sweats down her sexy thighs, baring her to me. My heart rate speeds up as she shakily tugs off my borrowed T-shirt.

  Naked.

Mia is naked and in my bed.

“I thought…” I choke out, frowning. “I thought I’d fail and you’d be disgusted with me.”

Her brows furl. “You have to put yourself out there. You have to try.”

“With you, I realized I don’t have to try. It just comes naturally,” I admit. “I didn’t know if I could do this or want to be with you this way, but now I can tell you with absolute certainty, I want and need to be with you. I love you, Mia, and if you let me, I want to show you with my body just how much.”

“I’m a virgin,” she croaks out. “I don’t exactly have experience. I want to be good for you. The best. What if I’
m not enough?”

I prowl over her, pressing kisses up her soft stomach to her breasts. They jiggle as she breathes heavily. I nip one of her breasts, delighting in the firmness of it, before tonguing her nipple. Sucking hard on the peak, I revel in the surprised yelp that escapes her.

  “Ashton,” she whimpers.

  “You’re everything to me.”

Her back arches up when I start licking and nipping at her breast. I may have never fucked a woman before, but I know how to pleasure a body. Her nipples are sensitive, and she clearly likes the attention. When I’ve made them red and swollen from my teeth and tongue, I kiss my way back down to her pussy. Her dark hair is trimmed neatly and her scent is alluring. I’m not a complete dunce. I know how the female anatomy works, but I’ve just never been exposed to it. I run my tongue along her slit, thankful that I enjoy the taste of her. It makes me eager to continue. I part her pink pussy lips to expose her clit. It’s cute and begs, like her pert nipples, for a kiss.

Her body jolts up off the bed when I tease the nub with my tongue. She moans—a low, seductive purr that strokes my fucking soul—and then I’m lost to her. I’m desperate to bring her pleasure. To show her how fucking amazing we can be together. The more I suck on her clit, the wetter her pussy gets. I want to go slow with her, but my dick is seeping with the need to be inside her. All it takes is a little more tongue play on her needy clit and then she’s coming hard, crying out my name like I’m the god she prays to.

As she shudders and writhes, I reach into the drawer and pull out a condom. I rip it open and roll it over my dick. I’m not sure if chicks need lube like guys do, so I yank out the bottle from my drawer and slather my condom-covered cock just in case.

  “Ashton,” she murmurs. “Kiss me.”

I crawl up her body, locking my eyes with hers. “You’re my first…” I tell her, needing her to understand that if I fuck this up, I’ll try harder the next time to make it better.

“Woman,” she finishes, wincing slightly as she lets her insecurities—ones I no doubt put on her—creep into her mind.

“Only woman,” I correct. “There’s only one you, Mia.”

Her breath hitches when I grip my dick and slide it against her slick hole. I press into her just a bit and then stare down at my pretty girl.

“I love you,” I remind her.

  “I love you too—ahh!”

I thrust my hips hard, growling as her tight body stretches to accommodate my thickness. My world tilts around me as I’m overcome with pleasure.

  She feels better than good.

  She feels fucking amazing.

Our lips connect and our tongues greet each other happily. Like we’ve finally figured out the steps to a dance we’ve been trying to learn. I thrust into her, desperate to connect her to me in such a physical, deep way. We kiss and moan, each of us tearing at the other like we might be able to climb inside one another. All too soon, I lose control, coming with a relieved groan. Rather than disconnect from my girl, I fall against her, sliding my arms around her and crushing her to me.

I know I should dispose of the condom.

Ask her if I should make her come again.

  Clean her up.

  Let her breathe.

For now, I just want to keep her like this.

  In my arms.

  Mine.

On. Cloud. Nine. That’s the only way to describe how I feel right now as I wait for Ashton to come back to bed. After we made love and Ashton held me for several minutes, I excused myself to the bathroom to take a quick shower so I could clean up. When I got out, I got dressed in Ashton’s hoodie and sweats and then went in search of the man himself.

At first I was nervous maybe he would regret what we did. I think it would be naïve of me not to have little doubts in the back of my mind. We kissed twice and both times he freaked out. And this was bigger. This was sex. Something neither of us had ever done before.

But the moment I stepped foot into the kitchen and Ashton’s eyes locked with mine, I felt like I could finally breathe. He smiled that sexy, boyish grin, and butterflies attacked my belly. He cut across the kitchen and kissed my lips, then he told me to get my ass back in bed, so he could bring me breakfast in bed.

While I wait for him, my thoughts go back to earlier, to the way he let me completely in.

“I thought I’d fail and you’d be disgusted with me.”

I felt anything but. The way he took care of me… I can’t imagine doing what we did with anyone but Ashton.

“We’re doing what feels right, Mia. No labels, just us.”

This is all I wanted for so long and now I finally have it.

  “You’re everything to me.”

I have to hope that what he said is true, and that I’m enough for him. Because with every kiss, every thrust, I fell even more in love with Ashton and I don’t know what I would do, if it turned out I wasn’t enough for him.

“Hey,” a masculine voice says from the doorway.

I shake myself out of my thoughts and turn toward the direction of the voice. Standing in the doorway is Drew with a confused expression on his face.

“Hey,” I say back, trying and failing to contain my smile. “Did you guys win?”

“Did we win?” He laughs incredulously. “I just walked through the door and found Ashton cooking breakfast… while whistling. I thought for a second I was in the wrong damn apartment. Then, after double checking and seeing that I was in fact in the right apartment, and wondering why the hell he’s in such a good mood, I find you lying in his bed… In Ashton Carter’s fucking bed. The man you’ve been avoiding all week.” Drew’s eyes go comically wide. “And your first question is ‘Did we win?’ What the hell is going on, Mia?”

“What’s going on is I made my girl breakfast in bed,” Ashton says, pushing past Drew and setting a tray of food down on the bed next to me. “And now I’m going to feed it to her.” He drops on the bed on the other side of the food and winks at me. “I have a swim meet this morning, so we’re going to need to make this quick. You’re coming, right?” he asks me.

“Of course. I can’t wait to finally see you compete.” I run my fingers through his floppy hair and push it out of his eyes. Ashton playfully reaches up and snags the tip of my finger, biting gently on it.

“Good, because I want you to be there when I kick Travis’s ass.”

“So, what, I’m gone like fifteen hours and you two are together now?” Drew asks, his tone a mixture of hurt and disbelief.

I glance over at him and my heart drops. I was flying so high on my Ashton cloud I didn’t think about how this would affect Drew. He’s been there for me every day, whether it was bringing me over food or coffee, or just stopping by to make sure I was hanging in there.

I move to stand, but Ashton must sense it, because he wraps his fingers around my forearm, stopping me. “I need to talk to Drew for a minute,” I tell him, silently begging him to understand. His eyes dart back and forth between us, but he lets go of my arm and nods.

When I gesture for Drew to follow me out, he shakes his head. “We can talk here.” His gaze swings back over to Ashton. “You forgave him?” His tone isn’t judgmental, but it isn’t happy either. He’s worried, and if I’m not mistaken I think sad—and I wonder if it’s because he and Brayden aren’t talking yet or if he’s upset that Ashton and I are together.

“I did,” I tell him. “We talked and he apologized.”

  “And you’re together now?”

“Yeah,” I say softly. “We are.”

Drew nods. “That’s good. I’m happy for you.” He clears his throat, then looks around me at Ashton. “I know you regret what you did. I saw it in your eyes all week. The way you sulked halfway to depression over what happened. But what you didn’t see… what she didn’t let you see was how badly you hurt her.”

  “Drew,” I start.

“No. He needs to hear this.” Drew turns his attention back to Ashton. “You didn’t see her refusing
to eat all week. You didn’t see her crying to the point I thought she was going to pass out from exhaustion. I know you love her, and I don’t doubt right now you think you have it all figured out, but I’m warning you right now, if you fucking hurt her again, I will kick your ass.”

  “Drew,” I repeat harshly. “Stop.”

“No, MiMi,” Ashton says. “He’s right. I hurt you. I saw it last night when I brought you home wasted. I felt it when I held you. You’ve lost weight… because of me. And if I hurt her again,” he says to Drew, “you have my permission to kick my ass.”

“I don’t need your permission,” Drew volleys. “Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.”

“It won’t. He won’t hurt me again,” I say, even though deep down I’m scared of exactly that. Ashton may have the best of intentions, he may love me, and I may be everything to him, but what if I’m still not enough?

“You know I’m here, right?” Drew says to me.

“I know, but I don’t want it to be like this…” I don’t want to lose Drew in order to be with Ashton. We’ve become close and I care about him. “Come to the swim meet with us,” I blurt out. “Please.”

Drew opens his mouth, most likely to say no, but Ashton speaks first. “Don’t even think about saying no. I told you this before. What MiMi wants, MiMi gets. It’s a home meet, too, so you don’t have to travel far.”

Drew groans. “Fine, but I need to shower first.”

“Yay!” I jump into Drew’s arms. “Thank you for everything,” I murmur softly. “I couldn’t have gotten through this week without you.”

Ashton clears his throat and I pull back. “The food’s getting cold.”

“I’ll meet you guys at the pool,” Drew says before retreating.

“You and Drew have gotten close,” Ashton observes once he’s gone. He averts his eyes, grabbing a piece of pancake and dragging it through the bowl of syrup.

“Hey.” I tip his chin up. “He was there when I needed a friend… But that’s all he is, a friend.”

Ashton nods then brings the drenched pancake piece to my mouth. I take a bite and flinch at how sweet it is. Typical Ashton, a little pancake and a lot of syrup. I’m actually surprised he didn’t throw some candy in there while he was at it.
