She was getting there, but she needed to accept that sometimes you just had to put a person down.

Erik placed the pistol back in the box.

“It’s time to make some noise.”

He’s a thirty-year veteran of military operations, she’s the youngest daughter of a wealthy business family.

Both used roundabout means to become detectives. She’s smart, he’s tactical. Now they need to learn from each other.

Mix in a very early high budget R&D AI created by the Military and we might have a problem.

For those trying to hide from justice.

Two years ago, a small moon in a far off system was set to be the location of the first intergalactic war between humans and an alien race.

It never happened. However, something was found many are willing to kill to keep a secret.

Now, they have killed the wrong people.

How many will need to die to keep the truth hidden?

  As many as is needed.

  Author Notes - Michael Anderle

Here is just one of the questions OpusX is supposed to answer for me: Can an author who does well on one distribution platform survive the effort to make a name for himself on others?

Just how hard is it? (I am told VERY hard.)

How much (virtual) blood, sweat and (possibly) tears will I have to shed to see if we can sell stories on other distribution platforms than the one I am already popular on?

Why do I need to do it? I’ve answered that last question on our Behind the Fiction podcast, with host Stephen Campbell please check it out.

I like to say that OpusX is one story told in twelve parts over eighteen months.

There won’t be one book release party, but rather one long continuous effort to announce to the world this series is available to read, to enjoy and to share with friends and family.

As a reader, we get involved in Jia’s life when Erik comes crashing in, saving her from being relegated to checking on traffic tickets after a second partner quits.

  He represents both opportunity…and annoyance.

He is not like her previous partners, and she discovers that perhaps she should have been careful what she asked for – a partner who cared to shake up the system. The system is well and truly starting to be shaken up and so is her misconceptions.

Jia and Erik are two rebels whose worlds collide on a planetary scale. They will either effect change that shakes the foundation of society.

  Or die in the process.

  Can they survive? Of course.

Will they survive? Well, that is a different question.

I will only admit there are plenty of opportunities for the fickle finger of fate to finagle an unfortunate demise.

The challenges increase from this first book and I’m not just talking about criminals. No, Mei and Jia’s Mom are focused on her personal life and not willing to cave because she finds satisfaction in her job.

She needs a husband whether Jia wants one or not. Jia, however, is no pushover even when family is doing the pushing.

Recognizing that Erik is spending all of his personal time on preparation and not his personal life, Jia believes he needs a date…So, learning nothing from Mei setting her up, she decides to set Erik up.

While I see many changes in our society every day I believe that certain behaviors will be with us centuries into the future. Family … is family.

OpusX is my opportunity to ask a few questions about where our society is heading when medical advances allow humanity to de-age their bodies.

We have incredibly smart people working on genetic and cellular advances and postulating we can accomplish amazing feats with stem cells. But what happens in society when this becomes a reality?

I set this concept in a new reality, an area of one country that was devastated beyond comprehension due to the efforts of a group who thought to force society to accept their version of the future, not realizing just how obstinate humanity (as a whole) can be.

Asimov considered the implications of society in his Foundation Trilogy. You can’t explain what one person might do, but you can create mathematical models on what large groups of humans will do.

Who says that this ability is limited to the government think tanks? What if someone or someones with money, time and willingness decided to move society onto a different path, and got away with it?

Or was it just a random gang, bent on having their way.

I have more questions to unravel as the story goes forward and I hope you continue with us as we bring you one new book every six weeks.

One new audio book every six weeks arriving at the same time (to the best of our abilities) on the same day.

Same with the paperback(s). No matter if you like to curl up with a book, a tablet or listen to the story – we will be delivering the next part in just a few days.

One story, twelve books, six weeks apart each.

Two cops, each brought into the system and yet not a member of the system.

The lifeblood of a series are reviews, the group who has worked on these stories (going back over a year before the first one came out) would love to know what you enjoyed. IF we did well, do you mind leaving a review where you bought this book? On their website?

Join us as we try something a bit new and we – a very small publishing company – seek to make a splash reserved for the big companies with deep pockets. We may accomplish our goal, we may not. But, like Jia and Erik, we are going to try.

Opus noun - any artistic work, especially one on a large scale.

X – the letter "x" is often used in algebra to mean a value that is not yet known. It is called a variable or sometimes an unknown.

This is my OpusX – I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
