The last vehicle left, scattering dirt and dust into the air as it traveled down the narrow road. From its territory in the pond, the glowing eyes watched in silence, taking note of everything that happened in its domain.
As the dust settled and the crickets resumed their chirping and the bullfrogs began croaking, the alligator moved suddenly, sending waves across the water as it made a single powerful thrust with its tail and propelled itself upon the bank of the pond. Its dark, rough hide glistened in the moonlight as the water ran from its skin.
Once again, it was the lone predator in its domain, and its prehistoric lizard brain liked it that way.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As a young boy author K.C. Sivils developed a lifelong love for reading. Among the first series of books he discovered was The Three Investigators Series of mysteries. Later in life Sivils stumbled across classic crime noir film, The Maltese Falcon, and saw the theatre run of the film Bladerunner. Thus, the foundation was laid for what led to the writing of The Inspector Thomas Sullivan Thriller series of novels.
