Frank stood up, rocking the table. He wasn’t about to go down that path. “Thanks for the donut, guys.”
“Bye, Frank,” they all chorused.
Walking across the green, something caught Frank’s eye. He paused before the town bulletin board, then fumbled in his pocket for his keys. The smallest key on the ring opened the glass door. He reached in and removed a flier. Janelle’s sweet face beseeched him one last time. Then he crumpled the paper and threw it away.
