  Bryce rubbed his chin, scratching his five-o’clock shadow. “Kit’s in there…with that joke of a character,” his conscience pummeled him, and he grimaced.

  He had done this to her. He had used his connections to dump her in Retha as an elf dancer. It was supposed to be funny! But now…it was a matter of grave severity. Perhaps even a life or death situation.

  Bryce shook his head. No, I can’t think like that. “It’s Kit. She’ll get out—she has to. I mean, if anyone can pull it off, it’s her. She can’t just…”

  He limply plopped down in his chair. He woke up his smart phone and hesitated before opening up what had once been an active group message. He paused, then typed in a short text and sent it off before he could regret it.

  Milk Crown: Kit is stuck in Retha.
