The intercom buzzed. Yasmin walked over. ‘Yes? Oh, definitely, let him in.’ She turned to Nabil. ‘It’s Shehab. He wants to see us before the ceremony. Mum and dad will be waiting in the Ceremonial Hall.’

‘Shehab,’ Nabil said as he saw his brother-in-law at the door. ‘Please, come in.’

Shehab walked in with a quick nod to Nabil. He walked over to Yasmin and gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. ‘How are you doing, sis?’ He asked.

She glanced quickly over at Nabil then said, ‘Pretty good.’

Shehab turned obviously noticing the gesture. He walked over to Nabil and held out his hand. ‘You have proven yourself worthy of my sister. And as long as she is this happy for the rest of her life, I’ll let you keep your teeth, brother,’ Shehab joked.

Nabil let out a thunderous guffaw and took Shehab in a big bear hug. Yasmin walked over to her brother and threw her arms around him.

‘Are we ready?’ Nabil asked. ‘Then let’s get on with the next phase of our lives,’ he said as he took Yasmin’s hand.

He stood with Yasmin, looking out at the crowd from the Great Hall. A thunderous round of applause could be heard from inside and outside the palace. It reverberated throughout the city, and indeed the entire country, as the population watched every detail live.

Nabil looked deep into Yasmin’s eyes. He moved his hand around her shoulders and brought her closer to him. She stood touching shoulder to shoulder. Then she heard the words that matched his actions, the words she could never tire of hearing from him.

‘Ana behebek, Yasmin. I love you.’

She held onto her husband’s hand even tighter, ‘I love you too, with all my heart.’
