The Price of Loving A Boss

“I wish you didn’t have to deal with that.”

“I have to do what I have to do for right now. So what else can I do?” I asked as she reached on my nightstand and handed me some tissue.

  “I know.”

“I miss my mama so much.” I took a deep breath and thought of my mother’s face. “Why she had to leave us in this cold world alone?” I asked Red, knowing she didn’t have the answer.

She rocked me back and forth

My sad reality was that I had to deal with Davinchi and all his shit. Even if I wanted to go back to Texas, I would be homeless there too. I came here for a better life, and now life was worse than it had ever been.

  Chapter Ten

  Yazz

“Can you jump out the pussy and open the door? Damn,” I said to Gee over the intercom as I stood at the front door. I had been knocking forever, it seemed. Now I hated that I had accidently left my key to his place at my condo. I was in such a rush to beat the traffic.

“Stop bitching,” he said as he opened the door in nothing but his boxers.

“Go cover up, boy,” I said as I went to the fridge and grabbed some juice.

“Whatever,” Gee said and walked downstairs to the master bedroom, rubbing his eyes. Then Kasha came walking her ass up the stairs.

“Why do you even have a condo if you’re here all the time?” she asked, taking the jug of juice from me and pouring her a glass.

“Same reason you’re here and you live in Paris. Because I do what the fuck I want.” I snatched the juice from her.

She had on Gee’s long shirt, some knee high socks, and her curly hair was all over her head. Judging by the mascara all over her face, and passion marks all around her neck, Gee tore that ass up last night. Probably this morning too.

“I’m here because my man missed me,” she boasted, leaning back on the countertop.

“Why are we talking again?” I asked, walking past her to turn the TV on, which took up most of the wall. I didn’t understand Kasha. She had a promising career, a law firm, and plenty of other accomplishments, but she was fucking with Gee; a drug lord.

“You still didn’t answer my question,” she said.

I kept my back to her. She was annoying as fuck; I swear I couldn’t wait until the day Gee left her for a woman who didn’t have her head so far up her ass.

  “Answer mine first,” I said.

  ‘What?”

“How come you don’t want to move here for Gee?”

“Because I have my life and independence built there already. He knew it was always my dream to live in Paris. Just like it was his dream to live here.”

“If you’re so independent, why you always in my brother’s pockets?”

She laughed. “Because it costs when you’re first starting out and building your own law firm.”

  “Don’t you have money?”

“I do, but… you know what? It’s none of your business. Ain’t you living off of him too?”

“Incorrect. We do this shit together and you know that. But that’s beside the point. Why you couldn’t build your life here? Huh? Why you only visit every once in a while?” I asked.

She raised her brow. I knew why she couldn’t build her life here, but that was our secret. We made an agreement a long time ago to stay out of each other’s way. She had something on me, and I had something on her. Simple as that. That’s why I didn’t understand why she was steady in here bothering me.

  “Whatever.” She walked away.

“Thought so. Bitch,” I said under my breath as I watched the news and waited for Gee to put some damn clothes on.

“What I tell you about pissing my girl off? Every time you make her mad, I don’t get no pussy,” Gee said as he walked up the stairs, still pulling his white shirt over his body.

“Whatever. Ain’t we meeting with the lawyer today?” I asked him. We had decided to get advised by a lawyer on our situation.

“Damn, that’s right. What time is it?”

I looked at my Rolex. “About to be 7 a.m.”

“Bet. Let me go shower. Ain’t them maids coming today?” he asked.

“Yeah, they should be here in a minute.”

“I’ght.” He walked back down the stairs.

There was a knock on the door.

“Hold up,” I said as I turned the TV off.

  “I got it,” Kasha said.

“Seriously, Kasha? Fuck out my face, dawg. I’m tired of looking at you,” I said as I walked to the front door and opened it.

“Morning, ladies,” I said to Red and Diamond.

“Morning,” they said in unison as they walked in.

I saw Kasha standing there with her arms folded, so I guess she wanted me to introduce her. “Damn, I sure will be glad when you get what you came for so you can be gone. Annoying ass…”

“I didn’t get to properly introduce myself to you two, yesterday. My name is Kasha. I’m Mr. Achul’s fiancée.” She held her hand out so she could shake their hands.

Before they could shake, I walked over and gently put Diamond’s hand down.

“We told them to call us Yazz and Gee. Don’t come up in here doing what you do,” I said, guiding Red and Diamond to the kitchen.

“But it’s unprofessional for maids to call their client by nick name.”

“And it’s unprofessional for lawyers to date criminals.”

“Oh yeah?” she asked with a smirk.

  “Gee!” I yelled.

  “Yo!” he answered.

“Please come and get Kasha. She all in my way!”

  “Kasha!” Gee yelled.

She flipped me the bird and walked down the stairs.

“Don’t mind her. She’ll be gone once she finesses some more money out of Gee. Are you ladies hungry?” I asked. They both shook their heads no. “Why y’all so quiet today?” I asked.

Red looked at Diamond, then back to me. “It’s nothing,” Red said.

  Diamond didn’t say anything.

“Is something wrong? Did I say something?” I asked them.

“No. Diamond just had a rough morning. That’s all,” Red said.

“Wanna talk about it, Diamond? I won’t be mean to you. I’m only mean to Kasha,” I joked, but she didn’t laugh.

“It’s fine. We’ll just finish our job and be out the way,” she said, unloading her bag as she bent down on one knee.

“Gee was very impressed with how you two did the laundry,” I said, trying to break the awkward silence. He really was impressed though. They did it just right, and that was the one thing we forgot to tell them how to do. “Who did it?” I asked.

“I did,” Diamond mumbled, preparing to wash the dishes.

Red began to dust the fixtures in the house.

“Great job, Diamond. Can y’all take tips?” I asked.

  “Yes.”

“Okay. Gee will leave a tip before we leave in a bit.”

  “Thank you,” she mumbled again.

It was something about her that I couldn’t put my finger on. Weren’t maids supposed to be excited about tips? She was excited yesterday about how huge the place was, but today she was so different.

I walked outside to the balcony and lit up a cigar as I waited for Gee. It didn’t take him long at all. “You ready?” he asked, fixing the tie to his suit.

  “Yep. Let’s roll.”

We walked back inside. “I hope you told Kasha not to be in here terrorizing the maids,” I whispered as we got closer to the kitchen.

  “Already straightened her out.”

  “Good.”

“Ladies, I might not be here when you two leave, but I left a tip in my master bedroom. It’s $2,000. I know I asked a lot of you. Hope that’s enough,” Gee said as he opened the fridge and grabbed his protein shake.

“That’s more than enough,” Red said in excitement. Diamond was steady washing the dishes.

“Once again, ladies, please help yourselves to anything in the kitchen. Honestl
y. I don’t want to come back home and nothing has been touched. Eat. You’re here for hours. Please,” Gee said.

“Ready?” I said when I saw that Diamond just wasn’t going to talk.

Gee noticed it too. “Yeah, let’s go.”

When we got on the elevator, Gee said, “Wonder what’s wrong with them today.”

“I already asked. They said nothing.”

“Yeah? You think Kasha said something to them yesterday?”

“Ain’t no telling with Kasha. Probably did,” I said as the elevator let us off.

“Mr. Achul, you’re early!” Attorney Brewster said as we walked into our destined meeting spot; a coffee shop downtown. Brewster was one of the best lawyers in the city, and you had to have major cake to deal with him.

“Brewster, you old bastard,” Gee joked as they clapped hands and bumped shoulders.

Brewster was an older white man who knew the law like a hoe knew her prices… to the dot. For every crime that was committed, he had a loophole to get mothafuckas off. He was that good.

“Let’s have a seat,” I said as we chose the furthest back table to sit at.

Though Brewster knew the law, he also knew everything about his clients. It was a must that no one lied to him. He had defended cold blooded murderers and knew that they were guilty. But for a million dollars, I would find a loop hole in that too, like he always did. Needless to say, he knew exactly what we were trying to do; fuck the American government with no Vaseline.

“I will get straight to the point. If you really want to go legit and leave the drug trade, you will have to become a citizen. A legit citizen. You don’t have jobs, so you absolutely can’t be a resident,” Brewster said when we sat down.

“I can’t just pay for it?” Gee asked.

“Then they will get you with charges because you don’t have a job or proof of legal income. They know what you do, they just can’t prove it. Let’s not go that route. It’s not safe. You’ll be banned from the U.S. and they will fuck around and put you on the terrorist list. I mean… look what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to bring healthier food here at a cheaper cost. Do you not know how much money this poison for food brings to the U.S. every year? Trillions.”

“They feel threatened,” I added. It was making sense.

“Yes, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they haven’t been watching you already. My advice is to find an American girl, marry her, and get rid of any illegal business that you have for now.”

“How long do I have to be married?” Gee asked.

  “Three years to be safe.”

“But how will I ensure that she won’t rat me out?”

“That’s where I come in. I draw up a contract and you pay her in installments. So if she ever tried to tell, she will be prosecuted also for taking the money in the first place, knowing what it was for.”

“Genius,” I said. “I’ve been telling Gee this ever since he decided that he wanted to be a businessman here. Especially of that kind.”

“Shit,” Gee said, leaning back in his chair and loosening his tie.

  “It’s the only way.”

“But what if I marry an American girl and the government still try and get over?” Gee asked.

“It’s loopholes around that too. They have guidelines that they have to follow. And you being black in this age makes it better because of all the police brutality going on. I will throw so many goddamn lawsuits at them, the whole country will be doomed.”

“Or we can kill them,” I said.

“Don’t underestimate them, my friend. Don’t think they haven’t thought about killing you also. Be very careful and try to stay under the radar for now.”

  “Damn.”

“Have you heard of the King Gibbs case?” Brewster asked.

“Yeah. He used to run with my cousin, Poppi. Feds trying to give him all day. Heard they framed him,” Gee said.

“Yes. That’s my client, and what you heard is true. He started looking into opening up free shelters around the world to get junkies help. It was sure to take more than half the drug abusers off the streets. They put him away and put a halt to that plan too. I’m telling you, these are some dirty sons of bitches,” Brewster said.

“Of course they don’t want drugs off the streets. It’s helping them destroy the streets more than they already are. They need drugs,” I said.

  “Exactly,” Brewster said.

Even though I hadn’t heard from Poppi in a while, I knew why I hadn’t heard from him. He was a trained assassin, and people were about to die. I had no doubt in my mind that King would be a free man again if they didn’t kill him first.

“So, I need to find me someone to marry and soon, basically,” Gee said to Brewster.

  “Correct.”

  “But who?” he asked.

“That’s the hard part. These things can be tricky. Try to find a dirt poor woman who isn’t hard on the eyes. You will have to see her face for six months because you two will be mandated to counseling. It’s the law when immigrants marry, to ensure that you really know and love the woman.”

  “But I won’t love her.”

“Well, invest in some acting classes too,” Brewster joked as he stood up to leave. “I have a meeting. I will have to catch up with you two another time. When you have a woman, the contracts will be ready.”

  Chapter Eleven

  Patricia

“I’ma tell you like I told her, you can deal with it or not. I ain’t forcing you to do shit,” Davinchi said as he sat on my countertop counting money.

“Is she the only one?” I asked, knowing the answer.

“Nah, but she’s the only one I fucks with on an everyday basis.”

“So where did you go last night?” I asked.

“I was with Diamond,” he lied.

I know he wasn’t there because I was watching.

“So, what? I’m just supposed to accept her?”

“You don’t have to do shit that you don’t want to do.”

“Can’t you see that I love you?” I said as I walked over to him and rubbed his face.

“I don’t like your love. Your love makes a nigga wanna kill you.”

“Well, why you still fucking with me?” I asked with an attitude as I backed up.

“Honestly? Because you let me do whatever the fuck I want.”

  “Well, that stops today.”

“And when it stops, I bounce up outta here. Until you act like a fucking main bitch, I will steady treat you like a hoe.”

  “A hoe?”

“Not calling you one, but I damn sure ain’t making you my main,” he said, putting his money into rubber bands.

When he stood up, I dropped to my knees and unbuckled his pants.

“What you want? You want a nasty bitch?” I asked, pulling his drawers down.

“Yeah, that’s what I want,” he smirked, rubbing my head.

“What else you want? Huh?” I asked, taking him into my mouth.

“I want you to shut the fuck up and suck this dick.”

I felt like trash as I allowed him to talk to me that way. But I loved him, and I was willing to go to great lengths to prove it. Davinchi was the only guy that I had ever fucked with who put up with my craziness. It’s like we understood each other. He just kept coming back for more, and that made me feel special. I was used to being knocked off and left. So now I was trying to humble myself and see exactly what it was that Diamond did to make him this way about her.

“Does she suck your dick like that? Huh?” I asked as I slapped his now wet dick across my face.

“Nah. She don’t suck my dick at all,” he said, grabbing a handful of my weave and forcing my head further onto his dick.

I almost choked, but I had to suck it up if I wanted to win him over. I wanted him all to myself, for many reasons. He was fine as hell. He gave me money from time to time. He always threatened to leave me alone, but never did. He was on the come up. Money w
as growing for him, and I wanted to be there when he made kingpin status so I could stunt on all my exes and my haters. And I also wanted to take him from that Diamond bitch. She didn’t deserve him. Hell, she didn’t even suck his dick. What type of woman was she?

“You like that?” I asked between gags as he fucked my throat.

Tears were now falling. Not because I was crying, but because his dick was choking the life out of me. I had to do what I had to do to show him that I had his best interest at heart.

“Yeah. Just like that. See what I mean? Stop worrying about them other bitches and suck this dick,” he moaned as he leaned back on the counter and rubbed my head like I was a puppy.

My cats came over to me and cuddled against my legs as spit rolled from my face down to my shoulders.

“I’ma… make you… love me,” I said between gags.

“Shut up and love this dick,” he said, pulling me up and bending me over my small eating table.

Since I had just gotten out the shower when he came by, I only had a robe on. He yanked it off, and before going inside, he smacked my ass a few times.

“Ooooh,” I moaned. It hurt so well.

“You said you want me to love you? You wanna take Diamond’s place?” he asked as he spit in his hands and wet his dick.

“Yes,” I said as he slammed my head on the table.

“See, Diamond don’t like all that rough shit. But you do, so you gotta let me take that shit how I wanna,” he said. I didn’t know what he was getting at until I felt the head of his dick at my asshole.

“No, Davinchi. That hurts really badly. It still hurts from yesterday,” I said as I turned around to look back at him.

“Well, quit acting like you wanna be my bitch. Can’t take me from Diamond if you ain’t willing to do what she won’t do. Fuck outta here.” He started to pull his pants back up as I put my robe back on.

  “Where you going?” I asked.

“I’m out,” he said as he went to my bedroom to grab his gun.

  “What? Why?” I asked.
