A World Of Dreams

Direction is relative in the dream world, but that evil guy wanted to find me, and I wanted to find him, so I figured if I walked I would find him eventually. Keyn was rearing and huffing in disapproval.

I fired a look at him but he was not intimidated. After a while, through odd and odder territories, I began to hear yapping consistent with the blue dogs. I would have to be ready. I became much more alert, concentrated and ready to inflict pain on anything that stood between me and my friend. My lava sword unconsciously appeared in my hand. I approached to see two sniffing blue canines, as they detected me I sliced their heads off. But there were other creatures. Smiley faces. Smiley faces everywhere. My own nightmares. Okay, maybe I was exaggerating, but still, this guy had been spying on my nightmares? There were also these dark and long figures with three pairs of legs. They were set low on the ground and had a sharp beak with teeth. Yes, a beak with teeth.

“We have to pick them one by one.” We were hiding behind a convenient block of concrete. I took a moment to wonder why in the world someone would create an urban setting in a world where you can create anything. I spat on the ground.

  “Humans, completely useless.”

We were completely quiet. Tension was rising. I had been fortunate to go to sleep long before the others so I didn’t have them meddling in my business ruining everything.

We picked them out a few by a few. Making noises, waiting for some to come check, killing them, repeating this from another location. They obviously weren’t being controlled by a creator so they were stupid creatures.

The coast was finally clear and the background faded into a smoky black ground with interludes of solid red rock. I knew we were probably walking in to some kind of trap but I would not fail. I damned myself for letting it happen in the first place and bit my fist. I got closer and closer to a dark figure, alone, no guardian or anything. Tension rose even more. For behind the figure I could hear the yapping of the blue dogs. I felt vulnerable, in serious danger, but calm at the same time. I was very close now, my lava sword drawn, Keyn had his ears back and was growling. The hood went down. My heart stopped, I knew I was in a situation where I would probably die and I was saying a farewell to the world in my mind while promising myself to kill as many things as possible in the process. Then he turned around.
