These were the words of her father. He would say them continually, especially any time Karen reached a crossroads in her life and had to choose a particular path to further her experience. She smelled the paper.

Only he would know these words.

She flipped the envelope over and looked at the postmark date. Two days ago.

Karen stood up and looked out the window.

I have to go to Kusadasi. Somebody there has information about my father.

But then Karen thought of her father’s grave in Arlington. She knew Arlington shouldn’t be where he’s buried. He should be with his family in Israel.

“He didn’t choose Arlington. President Burke did, and I went along with it.”

Burke knew my father well enough to know Arlington wouldn’t do. Genesis 49:29—‘Bury me with my fathers,’ Jacob said.

“Why did Burke want Dad in Arlington?”

Karen waited for the hallway lights to be dimmed. She opened the door and began talking to the guard. After an hour, he was standing in her room. He made the mistake of turning his back and Karen rendered him unconscious.

She quickly dressed, grabbed her identification, her Glock 17, her backup firearm, holster and her phone—leaving it off.

She rubbed the front of her hip. The chip’s not there. They can’t track me. But if I turn on my phone… Even if it’s off.

Leaving the guard on the floor next to her bed, she escaped her room and the facility.

Within an hour, Karen was at the Paris airport. Once there, she casually slipped her cellphone into the side pocket of a bag being carried by an elderly woman, turned, and walked away.
