Passionate Yearning Page 6

“Damn Raina, I could stay here with you forever, but I must go search for my brother.” I rest my head on her leg.

“I understand, you must go and get your brother and like I said if there’s a way to save his life try, not only for him, but for you.”

With those words, I rise, kiss her on the forehead and make my way out of the room.

Once I leave Raina I go straight into my armory room and get ready for battle. I put on my boots that contain a poison that paralyzes you instantly if I were to kick you. I grab a ton of my neck rings that keeps you in place until I release you. I also place my sword on my back and take a few more power elements used on supers.

I step out of my door and stand on the stoop and I can smell the wolves around my home. They can’t see me or even know that I’m aware that they are there. My brother has sent them to be slaughtered like meat, but I will not slaughter them. They have aligned with an enemy, but I think punishment instead of death will do.

One of my servants comes down the steps and is standing next to me holding my gun for witches.

“Thank you!” I simply reply and she’s gone.

The idea that my brother would attempt to challenge me is not adding up, he knows I will win, but maybe he’s trying to get to Raina while we are fighting. That I will not allow, Raina will be protected. I run back in and take precautions in case someone breaches my protective shield surrounding my compound.

  CHAPTER 9

  RAINA

Can I be falling for a dragon? I’ve had sex with him twice and it didn’t feel weird, it was the best sex I’ve ever had. I feel so comfortable with Jonathan. He’s easy to talk with and he has this huge heart that makes him even sexier, and he believes in doing what’s right.

I get ready to climb out of the bed and my legs are so sore, and my body is sore, but I can make it to his bath. I start running the water when I see a note on the counter, put these beads in your water, it will help with the soreness. He knew I would be sore and he left me something to help. I put the pretty shiny white beads in the water and they burst into an oil with smoke coming from out of the water. It looks magical. I climb in and relax and begin thinking, if Jonathan and I could have a chance at being together. Then reality sets in and reminds me that we can’t because he’s a dragon and I’m a human who will die long before he does.

After I get out the bath, I look in the mirror and I can’t help but smile. Then I notice my eyes getting bright just like Jonathan’s eyes do. That’s weird, but I guess when you have as much sex as he and I did, side effects are bound to happen.

I dress in the clothes that Jonathan retrieved for me. I put on my favorite t-shirt and some jeans. I walk out of the room and there is a lady standing there.

  “Who are you?”

“I’m here to make sure you don’t leave the house until Mr. Justice returns.”

  “I’m not a prisoner.” I snap.

“No you’re not, but our leader is fighting and when he fights he allows his beasts to take over, he will not be able to distinguish you from those who try to attack him.”

  “What’s your name?”

“I don’t have a name, I’m the servant of the Keeper of the Law and that is name enough.”

  She’s weird and creepy.

“Ok, I was going to go to the kitchen to get food.” I say.

She nods and we both walk to the kitchen. She doesn’t speak and after a few minutes I forget she’s there.

I start eating the breakfast prepared for me, when I hear a loud bang and a growl that shakes the house. I know in my gut that it is Jonathan.

I take off running and just as I’m about to step outside, the no name bitch pulls me back. I scream and scratch at her, but her grip is too tight. As my frustration grows, I let out a loud growl that even scares me.

I couldn’t believe I did that and neither could the no name servant. She turns me around and her eyes get big.

“OMG! You’re one of the chosen.”

“What are you talking about? I need to get out there.”

She walks me over to a mirror and my eyes are not only glowing they look like dragon eyes. I examine them, wondering how this coule be, then I look at her and she said I’m one of the chosen.

  “What am I chosen for?”

“You are one of the human dragons.”

She’s lost her mind. The fact that I slept with a dragon is the only reason this is happening. I’m sure Jonathan didn’t know having sex with a human could have this effect.

“I’m not a dragon, but I would like to know that Jonathan is, ok. Is there a way to find out?”

She looks at me strange then she replies.

“If the Keeper of the Law gets hurt, this compound gets weak or fully unprotected. If that were to happen, we will all be dead.”

That’s great, not only is he out there risking his life for me and possibly killing his brother; there is a chance that we all could die if he gets hurt. I don’t like this scenario.

“Since you will not allow me to step outside, then I guess you and I will wait and hope for the best.”

I go to sit on the floor, but she pulls one of the most elegant chairs I’ve ever seen from the wall.

“Please take this seat.” I sit and notice she’s standing looking at the door like me. I wonder if she’s as nervous as I am. I want Jonathan to stay alive.

Besides I think I’m falling for him and I need to be able to tell him that face to face. I’ve never been this way with a guy. Never wanted more with a guy, but for some reason Jonathan makes me want to be with him. I need for him to stay alive so I can at least tell him how I feel. We may not be together because of the obvious reasons, but I want him to know I appreciate the emotions he’s awoken inside of me. Plus the growling must be explained.

  CHAPTER 10

  JONATHAN

The wolves try to attack me as soon as I’m out from behind the protective barrier. I bring out my neck rings and start slinging them around their necks and one by one they were all sitting still. Once I had them all sitting, the look on their faces is relief. I guess they assumed I would kill them all for attacking me, but I know my brother is forcing these wolves.

That’s no excuse, they could have come to me when my brother approached, but now they must be punished as well.

I look at them and as I’m about to leave I hear the growl of a dragon coming from my home. The sound should not be coming from any of my workers, even though most are dragons and would not growl in the house.

I replay the sound in my head and it sounds like Raina, but how can that be she’s human, I’m sure.

I glance at my home and wonder what she could be growling about. I know my servants will protect her. I need to go find my brother and end this.

I go to the field and allow my beast to come forth. With my arms spread wide and my head in the sky I transform into my dragon. It’s not long before I’m fully turned into what would be a nightmare to most. When I transform all my weapons and clothes disappear, but once in human form I will have my weapons again.

I make myself invisible and start flying away from my home. As I’m flying I use my senses to track my brother. When we were young my mother made it so, that we could always find each other. She had us do a ritual that tied us together in case we needed one another, but I can also use this to locate him if he’s doing bad things.

As I get closer to Nathan’s compound I can smell his scent, but it feels like he’s not here. I land and his compound has been spelled, interesting the witches would side with a dragon, he must have promised them something, but what could they want from Nathan?

I look around and see a set of wolves coming towards me in one direction and Vampires in another. I throw my neck rings around the wolves and I decide the vampires were not being spared. I take off, meeting the vampires head on and start ripping their heads off quickly to end it. I realize Nathan is not here and the only other place he would go is my compound.

  I fly q
uickly home and find Nathan outside my compound looking at the wolves.

“Nathan, you will not take her.” I snap.

I hear the growl again and I’m sure it’s Raina, but why does she growl like a dragon. I would have smelled the dragon blood in her, she would have known herself.

“I guess I can tell you now, Raina has dragon blood in her and I’m going to make her my mate.” Nathan growls loudly.

He starts to transform into dragon and before I could try to talk some sense into him. He is shooting fire at me. I fly high in the air, getting Nathan away from the wolves, who can’t run from harm’s way.

He starts blowing flames again at me and I start returning fire. I try to reach him telepathically, but every time I try to touch his mind I feel heartbreak and anguish. This is not about me or Raina, my brother is truly hurting on the inside.

“Nathan, stop this! I don’t want to kill you.” I try to touch his mind again.

“Get out of my mind asshole, fight me!” He yells back and my head feels like an explosion.

I start shooting fire at Nathan, the fire hits him, but he keeps flying. He turns and tries to hit me and misses, which makes him fly towards me fast. I start firing at him and soon he’s firing at me again. He’s trying to really do damage to me. I can’t believe my brother would hurt me, yet it seems that’s his intentions.

The clouds get dark and I can hear the thunder rolling as Nathan crashes into me and we both hit the ground rolling, destroying everything in our path. Nathan hits me with fire and the pain is intense. I look and see the shield waver slightly.

Nathan looks at me with a wicked grin and I look at my home and back at him. The shield becoming weak is a way for someone to enter and take Raina. They will not be expecting the no name servants I hired, they are the assassins of our land.

“You’ll never see her again.” Nathan teases.

I blow fire at him and it catches him off guard. I continue my assault knowing I will kill him if I don’t stop. I think about Raina’s words and I stop. Nathan lies unconscious on the ground. I quickly change back to human form and go to pick up my brother when two witches come from the woods and start chanting something that gives me pain. I pull out my chains and throw them towards them. It hits them both taking them down on the ground. It doesn’t allow them to practice, but it also puts them to sleep.

I pick up Nathan and walk back into my compound. I can tell Raina is still in the home. I sit my brother down on the bench and throw a dragon chain on him. It will keep him from transforming and drains him of strength.

I run to where I can hear Raina yelling at someone. When I arrive, I find Nathan’s right hand man Xar fighting with one of my no names. When Raina sees, me she runs into my arms.

“Jonathan.” She says, and starts crying.

When Xar is in dragon chains he sighs and then looks at me.

“Kill me Keeper of the Law, I don’t deserve to live.”

I don’t respond to him, but to my no name.

“Take him and get some help with the wolves and witches outside. Nathan is to be taken to the cell I use for high authority.”

She nods and drags Xar with little effort.

“Raina, I’m so glad you’re safe, I was worried they had gotten to you.”

“Jonathan, not too long ago I felt something lift off my chest and it was like I could feel you.”

“Yes, we must talk Raina. I’ve found out some information that you need to know.”

I pick her up and walk with her to my room. I will deal with all the others later, right now Raina needs to know what she truly is.

Once I have placed her in a sitting position on the bed. I kiss her on the cheek and then look her in the eyes.

“Raina, you’re from a line of dragons, and…”

“I know that, the no name girl told me, but what I’m trying to understand is why I feel like I need you.”

As soon as she says that I can feel my body heating up for her. My beast growls out and the words true mate screams from my soul. I look at her and she’s rocking back and forth.

“Raina, I think you’re my mate and I think you know this as well.”

“I feel something Jonathan, but I’m not sure if I can deal with all this violence.”

She looks at me and I knew that she wanted to get away, now that she knows that I’m ok.

  “Raina…”

“I think this all is too much, learning about my bloodline means my birth parents knew and I need to be alone in my human home.”

“Yes, of course, anything you need. I can take you.”

“Can you have one of the no names take me please? I can’t think when I’m around you, all I want to do is kiss you and do all sorts of things.”

I wanted her to kiss me and do whatever she wants to with me, that’s what true mates do. Even though it’s physically hurting me not to make love to Raina, I will respect her wishes.

She stands and walks towards the door.

“I will have one waiting for you and don’t worry everything is safe now.”

“Thank you Jonathan and this isn’t goodbye.”

When she closed the door it felt like my world split in two. Now I can deal with all traitors including my brother.

  CHAPTER 11

  RAINA

As soon as I walk into my home I feel sick. I miss him already, but I need to process the fact that I’m this dragon human, and why did my parents abandon me, what could be their reason?

I walk in and the tears start flowing like a dam has broken. The hurt of knowing my parents didn’t want me, to know who I truly was is beyond hurtful. I walk into my kitchen and get the bottle of wine off my counter. I need to drink and cry.

I know that Jonathan wanted me to stay and I wanted to too, but he still must decide if he’ll kill his brother and God knows what he’ll do with the others. Do I want to be in a world with dragons, wolves, witches and vampires? I’m not sure if my world and Jonathan’s world could ever work.

I sit down on the couch in front of the TV and drink and cry watching the movie ‘The Notebook’.

I’m not sure when, but eventually the TV is watching me and I fall asleep with tears rolling down my face.

  ***

The next morning, I decide that I should go to work, but every time I get up off the couch to get clothes on I think of the special times Jonathan and I had together. I’ve never met a man so kind and caring in my life. Even though he’s so sweet, he also can and will protect me from anything that tries to harm me. Every woman would want that, but Jonathan also is a dragon and law person in the world he lives in.

I decide to call my mom.

“Hey Raina baby, how’s the good doctor doing?”

I smile because hearing her voice gives me comfort.

“I’m doing ok, how are you doing? Are you eating correctly to keep your blood pressure down?” I ask.

“Yes baby, mama is doing what the doctor and the nutritionist told me to do, but your father’s been eating mini cheesecakes. I saw the evidence in his car.”

I giggle because I know my father sneaks sweets all the time.

“I’ll talk with him mom, but I need to talk to you about a man I met.”

“Ok, is he nice? Does he work at the hospital? This is so exciting.”

I take a deep breath and start talking.

“Well, he’s very handsome, polite, protective, attentive and kind.”

“Raina he sounds perfect, but I’m assuming you have something that bothers you about him.”

“Well, it’s not that something bothers me, but his work…his work and my job we would never see each other.”

“What does this young man do?”

Oh shit, I can’t say he’s a dragon keeper of the law.

“He’s ahh… in law enforcement and sometimes he goes undercover.”

“Oh baby, I see what you mean, that is a high stress job. How do you feel about him?”

“Mama, I love him and I kno
w he loves me, but what if this is a mistake.”

“Listen Raina, if you never take a chance on love you will be alone and honey you deserve love. Give this man a chance, besides I want grandbabies.”

“Maybe your right, well I will let you go now and I’ll be sure to call soon.”
