Once I hang up I feel much better, talking with my mom always does that and maybe she’s right, I should give Jonathan a chance. I’m going to go to work today and get some things done and then I will contact Jonathan and tell him that I think we should give love a try.
Later that day, after talking with my boss, he told me I can take the night shift tonight.
I decide to pack a bag for my time with Jonathan. We could take turns at each other’s houses and maybe this can grow into something long term. I’m so excited to see if Jonathan and I can make a good couple.
I wish I could have gotten a number from him, but I think I remember where he lives. The no name servant drove my car, with me in it, home and I paid close attention to all landmarks in case I needed to contact Jonathan.
CHAPTER 12
JONATHAN
As I’m walking down the stairs where my brother Nathan is each step feels heavier than the last. Everyone has gotten their punishment except him. I sentenced the wolves and witches to a year in a super prison for their involvement.
When I reach his cell, he’s on the floor looking at the wall.
“Are you here to tell me how many days I have left to live brother?’ Nathan says, with resentment.
“Why do you hate me so much? I have always loved you and the fact that you are trying to kill me is unbelievable.”
“You have always been so concerned about people’s feelings, and at this point the things I tried to do to you, doesn’t compare to what I did.” Nathan spits.
“When I was trying to talk with you, I felt heartbroken and shameful, I know that you don’t feel that about trying to over throw me and kidnap Raina, so what’s it about? Who else have you wronged?”
Nathan looks up at me and for the first time in a while he seems in pain. His eyes are beast and they look weak and defeated. Nathan is hiding something.
“Nathan, tell me and then I promise I will give you what’s coming to you.” I say, hoping he will speak.
“I guess it doesn’t matter now, I found my true mate the other day and I walked away from her because I planned to mate with Raina.” He looks down now.
“Raina is my true mate and you put a spell on her… Now you’re saying you found your true mate and you left her in pursuit of another woman, which you had no chance with?”
“YOU SAID YOU WILL ISSUE MY PUNISHMENT, SO DO IT!” Nathan yells.
I looked at him and knew Raina was right about me killing my own brother. Even if the law called for it to happen, how can I kill him knowing he’s found his true mate? She would surely die soon after because of the void of knowing he’s gone for good.
“You want it? You got it!”
Nathan stands and turns his back to me with his head lowered.
“Make it quick Jonathan and tell our parents I love them.”
“Nathan Justice you are here by forced back to your homeland away from Earth. You will not be permitted back on Earth until six months has passed, in which time you can pursue your true mate. You will be forced to feel the pain of abandoning your mate, as well as, you are forbidden to release your beast for thirty days and you get to live. I hope you use this time to reflect on all the bad shit you’ve done and how so many others are being punished because of your pride, envy and stupidity.”
Very slowly Nathan turns around and looks at me with confusion.
“Why do you show me mercy? I don’t deserve your mercy.”
“You right you don’t, but Raina said that I should give you a second chance, so I’m giving it to you, but if you mess it up, I’ll revoke the mercy shown today. I’ll have some guards from home come get you soon.”
“Thank you, for something I would have not done for you, but I guess that’s why you’re the Keeper of the Law and I’m not.”
“Yeah, you would be sentencing everyone to death.”
We both laugh and then I begin to walk away.
“Jonathan, do you think that you could take me home instead of guards? I don’t want Mother to see me with anyone else but family.”
I think about it for a few seconds.
“Ok Nathan, I will escort you home, and remember you need to be on your best behavior.”
Nathan nods and then sits down on the bench in the cell. Even though I would rather go to Raina, I will take my brother home and return to Earth to speak to my mate. I can’t live without her and I must make her understand.
I open the cell and my brother walks over to me. I grab his arm and pull out my portal, it’s been a long time since I’ve been home, home to Janui, Cortamagen!
We are off and before I know it we are back home in our land, were the dragons are rulers and peace is every day.
CHAPTER 13
RAINA
After my shift at the hospital I decide I need to see Jonathan. As I’m walking to the car a couple of my colleagues ask if I wanted to go get some food. I apologized and told them I wanted to go home and to me Jonathan is my home.
I’ve been thinking about him all night long. I couldn’t wait for my shift to end. Being at work, I thought would make my feeling subside some, but it didn’t. All night all I wanted was to feel his touch and I felt empty, like a piece of me was missing.
If this true mate thing makes you need the person all the time, I’m going to be a sore woman. Once I’m in my car I make a stop at my home, picked up my bag and began the route back to Jonathan.
“I’m coming to you my true mate dragon.” I say out loud in my car. It’s going to be weird at first, but I’m going to like dating Jonathan.
After making a few turns and turning down the dirt road, things start to look familiar. I get to where the gate should be, but it leads to an open field.
“JONATHAN IT’S ME RAINA, YOUR TRUE MATE, LET ME IN!” I yell into the field.
Yet, there’s no response. I yell a few more times, but it was like making a fool out of myself, screaming into an open field when I know there is a home there.
I get back in my car and as I’m about to leave the gates appear and open. I drive through with hope. I look at all the flowers and beautiful things Jonathan has here and can’t wait to be a part of it.
When I reach the main doors, Wina is standing there smiling, waiting for me. I get out of the car and walk right up to her.
“Hi Wina, where’s Jonathan?”
“He went home Ms. Peters, I opened the door because I didn’t want you out there screaming.” She says, calmly.
“Wina, why do you have a name and the other’s don’t?”
“I’m not like them, I keep the home running for Mr. Justice.”
“Well can I stay and wait for him? Do you think he’ll be back soon?”
“I’m not sure when he will return, but I know that he will return.” She responds.
“You didn’t answer if I can stay and wait.” I reply.
“I’m not sure you can.” She responds looking away.
“I’m going to wait and I will tell him I forced my way in.”
She smiles and I walk inside. I quickly go to his bedroom and there is no sign of him, like Wina said. I guess I was hoping Jonathan would come out and say something funny.
I decide to relax, so I get in my comfy clothes and lay across his bed. He doesn’t have a TV in his room, but I have my tablet so I start watching Netflix.
Wina comes in and brings me food. I was able to eat some, but soon my eyes are tired from working all night, and I drift off to sleep.

I wake under the covers and when I reach out the other side of the bed has a chill, letting me know Jonathan still is not home. I look at the clock and it’s six in the evening. I must have been really sleepy because I have never slept ten hours in my life.
I decide on a shower and after I dress I go looking for Wina. I find her outside in the garden humming and pruning.
“Did he call or something?” I ask.
“No, Ms. Peters, he didn’t call, but he should be here soon.” She smiles.
I believe her, so I watch her work on the beautiful flowers. I find that Wina’s family has always served the keeper of the law. She speaks highly about this job and doesn’t feel like she’s sacrificed anything.
After a while we go inside and she fixes dinner and I eat with her. I didn’t want to be alone. After we eat and talk she goes to her sleeping quarters and I go back to Jonathan’s room. I tried to get Wina to come watch some TV with me, but she said it’s against the rules for her to be in the Keeper of the Law’s room except for business.
I go to his room and look through his drawers and look at his reading collection which needs updated. I climb in the bed alone and this time I begin to think that he’s changed his mind. Even if we are true mates it doesn’t change the fact I’m human, even though I can growl and my eyes can look like a dragon.
I fall asleep reading a romance story, hoping that Jonathan will be home soon.

The next morning, I awake still tired and alone. Jonathan still hasn’t returned from his home and now I think I should go home as well. I slip out of the bed and get dressed. I grab my bag and walk out of the room. As I’m walking down the hall passing two no names, Wina turns the corner.
“Ms. Peters, are you leaving? I have breakfast for you.”
“I’m sorry Wina, I‘m going home. I shouldn’t have stayed this long, it’s not my home and I’m here in his home like a stalker. It was nice getting to know you Wina.”
“It’s been a pleasure Ms. Peters.”
“You know, you should call me Raina. I consider you ?? more now, I mean we have eaten together and had long talks.”
Once I’m in my car I drive away fast, my crying comes fast and my tears will not stop flowing. Once I was home, I took another shower so I can wash the scent of his home off. I look in the mirror and give myself a pep talk.
“Raina, never let a man make you cry more than once, especially if they’re not happy tears. You have lots of guys who would love to spend time with you. You don’t want to be a part of his world, besides his brother tried to kidnap you. Pull yourself together and move forward, you can and will get through this.”
I walk out of the bathroom only to find Jonathan standing in my room looking at me.
“I’m sorry Raina, please forgive me.”
Jonathan is here, in my bedroom, looking sexy with those pants showing the shape of his thighs. I waited for him and if he thinks that it’s ok, he’ll do it again.
“You didn’t give me your number so I showed up, but you didn’t come home.” I say, rolling my eyes.
“I know, but I took your advice and didn’t kill my brother, but banned him to our native land. He asked if I could take him home so our parents could see me bringing him instead of guards.”
“So you think he’s done hating you?”
He walks toward me, but I take a step to the side.
“I think he will be too busy thinking of what to say to his true mate that he denied. Are you going to stay away from me or can you please let me touch you? I’ve been anxious to see you.”
“You made me cry, more than once and…”
Before I could finish what I’m saying. Jonathan grabs me and pulls me to him, where he starts kissing me. I submit and let all my feeling’s go and hug him back kissing him hard.
“I’m sorry baby, let me get you back home in my bed.”
“I’m staying here, I was at your home.”
He frowns and then looks at me.
“You’re my true mate, it’s our home besides I need to claim you and I can’t do that here.”
“Claim me what are you talking about Jonathan?”
I look at him, unsure of what claimed meant.
“Raina I’m yours and your mine, but I need for anyone you encounter to know that and for me to do that I need to claim you and then we can start planning a ceremony so we can go to my native land. You’re going to love being there.”
“Jonathan you know I’m a doctor right and where is your land? I’m assuming some place other than Earth, can’t we stay here and date?”
“Date? Raina true mates don’t date and I’m going to take a leave of absence so I can spend time with you and then come back to protecting my region.”
He’s serious. I’m not leaving for an uncertain amount of time. I believe in the true mate thing and I like the idea, but changing everything for him and he doesn’t do any compromising is wrong.
“Jonathan, can we stay the night here please?”
“We can tomorrow. I need to claim you, so please beautiful let me make love to you.”

Jonathan pulls out this cube and we disappear and reappear in his bedroom. It’s decorated with lots of flowers and wine next to the bed, fruit and meat trays along with a bowl of nuts as well.
I look at Jonathan and he smiles and starts removing his clothes. I can’t help but follow his direction and I start removing my clothes too. When we are both naked in front of each other Jonathan pulls me close to him.
“Raina, I’m so happy right now and I hope you forgive me my love for not being here when you came looking for me.”
“Of course I forgive you, I love you.”
“I love you too, and now I’m going to do something that you’ve never seen before, but you will be fine. You’re of dragon blood, so please can you trust me?”
“This is a little scary, but my gut tells me to trust you, so I do, trust you.”
He then wraps his arms around me and because he’s so much taller than me I can’t see what’s happening until I feel the heat. I look and we are surrounded by fire, but I don’t say anything as I don’t feel in danger. Jonathan looks down at me and lifts me up to him and I wrap my legs around his waist. He bends down and we are on the floor now and he slips inside of me and my body begins to shiver from the pleasure. He starts kissing my neck and I close my eyes and when I open them up for only a second the fire is upon us. It’s on us, surrounding us. There is nothing but us and fire.
